BACK. This weekend we celebrate the feast day of St. Teresa of Calcutta, who we also know as Mother Teresa. One of the things I think about when I ponder on the works of this saint is her boldness. I watched a video where she boldly spoke in front of world leaders, some INSERT IS THE who did not agree with her, about the dignity of life and the end to abortion. She was so strong in her convictions and her words reflected this. Her moral courage was so powerful that she has cared for the poorest of the poor with the most loving charity. We are SAME FOR SMSJ all called to be charitable to our brothers and sisters as if our love for them portrays our love for God. This is how St. Teresa lived and breathed. She was bold and persistent to care for God’s creation. AND ST. ANTHONY AND COVER To find out how to live a life like St. Teresa, go to the Catholic Relief Service website and go deeper into these ideas: PRINTS EACH https://www.crs.org/stories/5-ways-live-mother-teresa • Be an advocate for those without a voice WEEK • Be determined, but don’t be afraid to ask for help • Pray • Live humbly • Smile Thirsting for God, Angelo D. Scolozzi, M.C.III.O. Now that a lot of people are working from home, it is a good time to keep some spiritual reading at your side. This book is a wonderful way to keep your faith life first every morning. Thirsting for God has daily meditations in the words of St. Teresa of Calcutta. This will give us some daily hope to go about our daily lives. Forty Hours Exposition and Adoration Next Weekend Next weekend we all will have the distinct opportunity to share in the special blessings of our solemn Forty Hours Exposition and Adoration. This is a chance to experience the moving and inspiring peacefulness that comes from individual prayer in solitude with Our Lord, especially in this very uncertain and challenging time. The Opening Ceremony will be at the regular 9:00 AM Mass on Friday, Sept. 11, with continuous exposition and adoration of the Eucharist until the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 13, at the 10:00 a.m. Mass. We are still greatly in need of guardian adorers willing to commit to an hour (or more), especially in the late night and early morning time slots during that weekend. Sign-up sheets are online at the parish website under “Events.” If you have any questions, call Jeff Icsman at 513-321- 3089 or email at [email protected]. • September 2020 Dispatch
September 2020 Dispatch Brother Knights, This serves as my second monthly dispatch to the council as Grand Knight… praise God for continuity and inspiration! It’s hard to believe that September is already here (Tempus Fugit, Memento Mori), but I pray that God has been present in your lives and that you are able to converse with the LORD daily and attend Mass in person or virtually as often as possible (see Good of the Order below). If you take a look at the summary of upcoming events below, you will see that we have another busy month. I would especially like to point your attention to the Silver Rose event. This has become a very important endeavor to me and I would really appreciate a good showing from brother Knights. Additionally, our monthly general meeting, which will be September 9 after 5:30 Mass, will be no ordinary meeting. There are two neat things happening, so perhaps you won’t want to miss it. I will be honest that I’m attempting to build up enough interest that we get to see a good number of new faces, which is always exciting. Fun fact: St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, whose feast day is September 5, had an affinity for the Knights of Columbus. Although she was typically known to eschew worldly honors for her work, she did accept an award from the Knights of Columbus stating, “I accepted to come, and to accept out of sheer gratitude, for they (the Knights of Columbus) have done so much for our congregation and for our poor.” If I don’t happen to see you at any point this month, know that I will be praying for you and your family, asking the LORD to bless each of you abundantly! Happy birthday to Past Grand Knight Tim Mohatt and Terrence Rush today! Also, St.

  • Confirmation
CONFIRMATION December 1, 2020 Dear Parents and Students, You have elected to register your son/daughter for the St. Agnes Christian Formation program this year. When registering your son/daughter it is stated that our Confirmation program is a two-year program. This program challenges him or her to grow in his or her understanding of the Catholic faith and his or her personal relationship with God. There are several points to make you aware of in preparation for Confirmation (which starts in 8th grade with the student receiving the Sacrament with the completion of 9th grade studies) (due to pandemic this school year completion of 10th grade)). Successful completion of the curriculum includes once a month catechesis, service to others, and spending time with God in prayer. The greatest form of prayer is the celebration of the Mass. As Catholics, we are encouraged to attend weekly Mass in order to recognize God’s love more fully in the Word and Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. While the pandemic poses a particular challenge at this time, students and their families are highly encouraged to either attend weekly Mass in person (Precautions are in place to ensure everyone’s safety) or to seek out an online Mass to encourage growth in love for Christ in preparation for Confirmation. Below is a list of other expectations. Remember, these “assignments” are designed to support our students in their desire to know, love, and serve our wonderful God while helping to prepare them for the reception of the Sacrament. This process for being Confirmed in the Spirit is a commitment from the parish, support from parents, and a commitment from the student that wishes to be Confirmed.

Saints of Cancer This book is a collection of small articles, profiles of Saints, Beati and Venerables of the Church who have suffered with cancer, healed people with cancer, or have a tradition of patronage against cancer and for its sufferers. Articles are taken from the web site http://saints.SQPN.com . Expanded versions of these and thousands of similar profiles of Christian saints with images, support documents, links to other sites, liturgical calendar, ebooks and more are available at the web site Saints.SQPN.com , and it's just a small part of the SQPN - the Star Quest Production Network. SQPN is leading the way in Catholic new media with audio and video, books and blogs, podcasts and television, and the most welcoming community of clergy and laity you'll find online. Come by and see us. SQPN Saint Agatha of Sicily Memorial 5 February Profile We have little reliable information about this martyr, who has been honoured since ancient times, and whose name is included in the canon of the Mass. Young, beautiful and rich, Agatha lived a life consecrated to God. When Decius announced the edicts against Christians, the magistrate Quinctianus tried to profit by Agatha's sanctity; he planned to blackmail her into sex in exchange for not charging her. Handed over to a brothel, she refused to accept customers. After rejecting Quinctianus's advances, she was beaten, imprisoned, tortured, her breasts were crushed and cut off. She told the judge, "Cruel man, have you forgotten your mother and the breast that nourished you, that you dare to mutilate me this way?" One version has it that Saint Peter healed her.

MASSIMILIANO BERTOLAZZI I hold to be wise those After the second or third sip, who make use of aged wine judgments are uttered, comparisons, memories of past years of “fabulous” wines that will never be repeated. alle d’Alpone V Vino Santo of Brognoligo ognoligo in r in Valle d’Alpone ino Santo of B V Massimiliano Bertolazzi www.carugate.it 2008 To my wife Luciana MASSIMILIANO BERTOLAZZI Vino Santo of Brognoligo in Valle d’Alpone 2008 Vino santo, dessert wine par excellence, dates back to the earliest times of wine production by the ancient Romans or even earlier. From Pliny to Columella, Domitius Ulpius, Flavius Magnus Aurelius Senator known as Cassiodorus, the Bolognese Pier de’Crescenzi, Andrea Bacci, the marquis Scipione Maffei, Da Persico, the Verona innkeeper Valentino Alberti, Giuseppe Beretta (a member of the Accademia di Agricoltura, who lived in Verona during the frst half of the 19th century), down to Carlo Belviglieri: there has been a continuous fow of praise for this wine. It is surprising that the offcial recognition of the DOCG has not yet come about for this wine, born centuries ago in the Valle d’Alpone and still produced today in a limited area of the same region with the specifc method that is so different from the much more acclaimed “holy wines” from Tuscany or Trentino, etc.
