Factsheet - Singapore Assault Rifle 21 Factsheet - Singapore Assault Rifle 21 11 Sep 1999 The Singapore Assault Rifle 21 (SAR 21) is the latest assault rifle developed jointly by the Singapore Army, the Defence Technology Group, and the Chartered Industries of Singapore. The SAR 21 is a highly reliable and technologically advanced weapon. The new improved features of the SAR 21 are: Shorter Length. The SAR 21 is a bull-pup designed weapon (i.e., the butt stock of the weapon is removed), making it about 20% shorter than the in-service M-16. The shorter length of the weapon makes it more suitable for the soldiers to move in confined spaces such as dense vegetation, windows, tunnels, inside armoured vehicles and helicopters. Integrated 1.5x Optical Scope. The new SAR 21 comes with a built-in aiming scope with a 1.5 magnification. This allows the firer to detect and hit targets rapidly and accurately. With the integrated 1.5x scope, our soldiers no longer need to zero their rifles (the aligning of weapon sight to where the barrel is pointing at). Laser Aiming Device (LAD). The SAR 21 also has a new feature called the LAD. It enables a soldier to fire quickly without aiming through the scope. The LAD enhances a soldier's combat survivability in the night and is highly effective for night combat and close combat in build-up areas. Greater Control and Faster Recovery. The low recoil (the kick-back when a round is fired) of SAR 21 gives the soldier better control over the rifle and hence faster recovery between successive shots. This is critical in combat operations where the soldier must be ready to fire his weapon instinctively. The SAR 21 is designed to suit the build of the Singapore soldier. Its Technical Specifications are: Length : 805mm 1 Calibre : 5.56 x 45mm Barrel Length : 508mm Sighting system : 1.5x Optical Scope Laser Aiming Device Effective Range : 460m Weight : 3.98 kg Rate of fire : 450 - 650 rpm Feed Device : 30 rounds Plastic Box Magazine News Release: - Launch of New Assault Rifle at Opening Ceremony of Army Open House 1999 (Document No: MINDEF_19990911001.pdf) 2 .

  • Weapons in the Dark: Dark Net Demand and Supply Response to Mass-Casualty Events
COPENHAGEN BUSINESS SCHOOL MSc Advanced Economics and Finance Master’s Thesis Weapons in the Dark: Dark Net Demand and Supply Response to Mass-casualty Events. Authors: Elena Ivanchenkova, Lavi Apfelbaum Supervisor: Chandler Lutz Date of submission: May 15th, 2017. Number of Pages: 100 Number of Characters: 164,460 May 2017 Illustration source: Scotti, 2013. \Place your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark." Robert A. Heinlein COPENHAGEN BUSINESS SCHOOL Abstract by Elena Ivanchenkova & Lavi Apfelbaum In this paper, we examine the effect of mass-casualty events on the supply and demand for arms on the Dark Net markets. We explain the environment based on the existing research literature on Bitcoin, encrypted browsers, smuggling and other mechanisms that keep it functioning. We overcome data quality issues related to missing observation using imputation tools. In this research, we use classical econometric methods to obtain evidence on the weapons trade response to the non-strict exogenous shocks. Our results provide some evidence on the short-term and midterm arms sales reaction to the terror attacks and mass shootings. We also find a potential of recognising trends and patterns in weapon trade through the activity analysis in the Dark Net markets Acknowledgements We hereby thank our thesis supervisor Chandler Lutz for the continuous support his guidance and engagement in the process of this research. We furthermore thank Gwern Branwen for his advice and being open in sharing the knowledge not only about the dataset but on the research field in general. Finally, we thank our family and friends who supported us throughout the process and provided some valuable ideas which we implemented in the research.

  • Singapore, Malaysia, and the International Arms Industry
III SINGAPORE, MALAYSIA, AND THE INTERNATIONAL ARMS INDUSTRY Singapore is a modem, ultra-clean city-state, with excellent tourist and shopping facilities. It also has the highest rate per capita of executions in the world, a large, government-regulated commercial sex industry, and is a manufacturer and exporter of weapons that are designed to kill. The Singa pore government's strong preference for execution and the city-state's commercial sex industry were looked at in The Asian Insider. It's Singa pore's role in the international arms industry that is examined here. No Messing Around Four men of Pakistani descent hijacked Singapore Airlines flight SQ 117 on March 26, 1991. The flight was on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, with 118 passengers from 18 countries and 9 crew members on board. l Armed with knives and canisters of explosives, the hijackers directed the flight's captain to take the plane to Sydney. But the plane did not have enough fuel for the journey, so the hijackers agreed to allow it to land at Singapore's Changi Airport. The four claimed to be members of Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Pakistan's main opposition party. Their demands included the release of various PPP leaders from prisons in Pakistan. Once at Changi, they asked that the aircraft be refueled so that it could be flown to Australia and there after to Iraq or Libya. The first load of fuel was delivered to the aircraft at about 3am. The hijackers agreed to release ten women and children before the next load of 138 M.

One of the infantry weapon that Albania received tons of was the Chinese copy of the AKM, the Type 56. At first, the Albanians used the Type 56s as they were, but they gradually made modifications to suit local manufacturing methods and perceived needs, creating essentially a new set of AKM variants.
