Soldier Systems Technology Roadmap SOLDIER SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY ROADMAP CAPSTONE REPORT AND ACTION PLAN SUPPORTING THE FUTURE SOLDIER SUPPORTING CANADIAN INDUSTRY SOLDIER SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY ROADMAP CAPSTONE REPORT AND ACTION PLAN Abstract The Soldier Systems Technology Roadmap Capstone Report and Action Plan captures and summarizes the findings of the Development Phase of the Soldier Systems Technology Roadmap (2011–2025) (SSTRM) initiative. The SSTRM is a groundbreaking industry-government collaboration focused on enhancing the operational effectiveness of the future Canadian soldier and the competitiveness of Canadian industry through open innovation. Led by the Department of National Defence (DND)—with participation from Army and Materiel branches and Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC)—and Industry Canada (IC), the initiative enjoys the strong support of the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) and of Technopôle Defence and Security (TDS). Applying roadmapping principles and processes to Canadian Forces soldier modernization efforts, the initiative involves industry and academia collaboratively in a comprehensive knowledge-sharing platform to articulate future needs and identify capability gaps, related challenges and potential technology solutions for the Canadian soldier of the future. The report includes an Action Plan that highlights the key R&D priorities identified by the soldier systems community of interest and makes recommendations for next steps in the initiative to Night hunting with artificial light may be prohibited or restricted in your state. Please check your state’s game laws for clarification. CAUTION: The TLR-1 HL®, TLR-2 HL®, TLR-2 HL® G and TLR-1 HPL® provide a powerful beam. When operated for a long time, it will get uncomfortably warm. This is NORMAL and is not a defect. Any LED flashlight of similar size and performance will produce similar amounts of heat during operation. The only way to reduce operating heat is to SIGNIFICANTLY lower the output, or increase the size of the flashlight. While this heating may trigger the drop reflex if an unattended hot light is picked up, the temperature does not present a burn hazard. When used tactically for short periods of time to clear a room, check for intruders, etc., heating will not be a problem. FAILURE TO READ AND FOLLOW THESE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS WHEN HANDLING A FIREARM OR THE TLR CAN BE DANGEROUS AND CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY, DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, OR DEATH. • Use of a firearm under any circumstance may be dangerous. SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH may result without proper training in the safe handling of firearms. E-mail: [email protected] Abstract. Paper deals with the building visual detection problem. Particular buildings which are important to government infrastructure must have additional security means including camouflage painting to disguise from aerial reconnaissance and observation. The approach for computer-generated camouflge pattern design is proposed. The novelty of the proposed method consists of the consideration of the camouflaged building and urban environment fusion effect in description of the multicolor camouflage effectivity. An analytical method for determination of building camouflage effectivity is presented. This method is constructed within the framework of visual detection probabilities. The proposed method is illustrated by the design of the camouflage drawing geometry and determination of the effectivity characteristics for prescribed observation range.
