Cienegas Vanishing Climax Communities of the American
Hendrickson and Minckley Cienegas of the American Southwest 131 Abstract Cienegas The term cienega is here applied to mid-elevation (1,000-2,000 m) wetlands characterized by permanently saturated, highly organic, reducing soils. A depauperate Vanishing Climax flora dominated by low sedges highly adapted to such soils characterizes these habitats. Progression to cienega is Communities of the dependent on a complex association of factors most likely found in headwater areas. Once achieved, the community American Southwest appears stable and persistent since paleoecological data indicate long periods of cienega conditions, with infre- quent cycles of incision. We hypothesize the cienega to be an aquatic climax community. Cienegas and other marsh- land habitats have decreased greatly in Arizona in the Dean A. Hendrickson past century. Cultural impacts have been diverse and not Department of Zoology, well documented. While factors such as grazing and Arizona State University streambed modifications contributed to their destruction, the role of climate must also be considered. Cienega con- and ditions could be restored at historic sites by provision of ' constant water supply and amelioration of catastrophic W. L. Minckley flooding events. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Dexter Fish Hatchery Introduction and Department of Zoology Written accounts and photographs of early explorers Arizona State University and settlers (e.g., Hastings and Turner, 1965) indicate that most pre-1890 aquatic habitats in southeastern Arizona were different from what they are today. Sandy, barren streambeds (Interior Strands of Minckley and Brown, 1982) now lie entrenched between vertical walls many meters below dry valley surfaces. These same streams prior to 1880 coursed unincised across alluvial fills in shallow, braided channels, often through lush marshes. -

Lucifer Show Parents Guide
Lucifer show parents guide Continue #Lucifer season 5, episode 4 Review: It never ends well for the chicken Chloe has a big bomb dropped on her and it looks like she's not done with it yet. In Lucifer Season 5, episode 4, Trixie appears in Lucifer without her mother to play. First, yay for more trixie content. Trixie: Problems with adults. I'm not interested. Also, who cares where my mother is? Lucifer: Me for one. Trixie: it's a night game, and Trixie's in the house. Trying to get things back the way things were, Lucifer had a night of snacks and monopoly. Since it was just the two of them, Trixie persuaded Lucifer to tell her the story behind his ring. This episode was a funny, black-and-white, noir detective story. Lucifer tells her the true story of the ring, with several different faces. The story begins in 1946 at the Garden Club in 1946, where Lilith (by Lily Rose) is known as the best chante on the market. The labyrinth is a bubbling image of the mother of demons. We'il love every episode where we hear Leslie-Anne Brandt. Lucifer apparently owes Lilith a favor, so she cashes in by heeding his help finding her stolen ring. People believe that the ring gives immortality without Lilith knowing, just keep it for sentimentality from his days with Adam in the garden. Lucifer wasn't very keen to help at first. Since when did the devil solve the crime? The devil, we solve crimes. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. -

The Reflection of Sancho Panza in the Comic Book Sidekick De Don
UNIVERSIDAD DE OVIEDO FACULTAD DE FILOSOFÍA Y LETRAS MEMORIA DE LICENCIATURA From Don Quixote to The Tick: The Reflection of Sancho Panza in the Comic Book Sidekick ____________ De Don Quijote a The Tick: El Reflejo de Sancho Panza en el sidekick del Cómic Autor: José Manuel Annacondia López Directora: Dra. María José Álvarez Faedo VºBº: Oviedo, 2012 To comic book creators of yesterday, today and tomorrow. The comics medium is a very specialized area of the Arts, home to many rare and talented blooms and flowering imaginations and it breaks my heart to see so many of our best and brightest bowing down to the same market pressures which drive lowest-common-denominator blockbuster movies and television cop shows. Let's see if we can call time on this trend by demanding and creating big, wild comics which stretch our imaginations. Let's make living breathing, sprawling adventures filled with mind-blowing images of things unseen on Earth. Let's make artefacts that are not faux-games or movies but something other, something so rare and strange it might as well be a window into another universe because that's what it is. Top Pick Wednesday 21 March 9.00Pm
1 Top Pick Wednesday 21 March 9.00pm Sando Victoria ‘Sando’ Sandringham (Sasha Horler) is the charismatic loose cannon CEO, and public face of, beloved department store chain ‘Sando’s Warehouse’. Australia knows Sando as the larrikin ‘Package Deal Queen’, a born performer who for decades starred alongside her young family in their own furniture commercials. But things began to unravel for Sando the day of her daughter Susie’s wedding, when it is revealed that following a drunken night at a family weekend away, she became pregnant to Susie’s fiancé, Kevin (Firass Dirani), and was excommunicated from the family. Ten years later we catch up with Sando, freshly removed from her own company by her nemesis company CFO Tony (Rob Carlton), following one too many all-night benders. Her assets frozen and with nowhere else to go, Sando realises she must reconnect with her family if she’s to have any chance of rekindling the halcyon days. While granddaughter Rian (Sierra Lewis) is easily won over – as is son Eric (Dylan Hesp) for whom the parental flame was never extinguished - daughter Susie (Krew Boylan) has a much larger axe to grind. Even though she’s now happily married to dependable Gary (Uli Latukefu), Susie has never forgiven Sando and doesn’t intend to now that she’s back. Fearing another banishment, Sando fakes a stroke in order to buy a few crucial days to convalesce in the family’s pool house. Then, by blackmailing her ex-husband Don (Phil Lloyd) and Susie’s best friend and live-in life coach Nicky (Adele Vuko), Sando manages to further extend her stay. -

Vlaho Bukovac and My Search for His Paintings in England
VLAHO BUKOVAC AND MY SEARCH FOR HIS PAINTINGS IN ENGLAND It was in the late 1980s, after I had read the delightful autobiography by the painter Vlaho Bukovac, 1855 – 1922, published in Zagreb in 1918, that I realised that this important Croatian artist had found “home from home” in North Yorkshire, just as I had done in the small town of Bedale, my late husband's family home. Harrogate, where Samson Fox, 1838 – 1903, one of Vlaho's most important collectors in England lived, was only a matter of miles away from Bedale, a drive of less than an hour. Harrogate was then, and still is today, a lively spa town, where people came to drink sulphur waters for their health, to spend a holiday, to enjoy themselves, to make friends, to see exhibitions and to go to the theatre. The famous Royal Pump Room, now a museum, was a place to meet. Samson Fox, the ancestor of the present day well known acting family, Edward, Robert, James, Emilia Fox, to mention just a few, was a self-made engineer and a clever business man, who had invented an important part for the engines of steamships and had thus become very wealthy himself. He had been elected three times the Mayor of Harrogate, never repeated since, owing to his good works and generosity to many causes. His bust, by Prince Victor von Hohenlohe-Langenborg, still graces the corridors of the Royal College of Music in London. Fox had donated £45,000, a very large amount at the time, for the building of the College in 1894.
