The super dynamic IFerrari birthed from the vision of founder Enzo Ferrari is recognised the whole world over and renowned for its signature red. Enzo whose passion for motorsport began when he raced for Alfa Romeo in the 1920s set the pace for his vision that would become an international success. After winning the very first Circuito del Savio in 1923, Enzo Ferrari met Count Baracca, father of the famous Italian First World War pilot Francesco Baracca and later his wife, Countess Baracca, who invited him to use her son’s ‘Prancing Horse’ emblem as a mascot on his racing cars. LaFerrari Dynamic Art edited by Moreno Gentili is a celebration of the Italian founder and his legacy as well as the LaFerrari that would join the GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo as one of the most emblematic cars in the history of Ferrari. After running the racing department for Alfa Romeo and as head of Alfa Corse in the 1930s, Enzo Ferrari designed his first Ferrari model in 1945 with a V12 engine, suited to use on sports prototypes as well as single-seaters and Grand Tourers. His entrepreneurial words of wisdom such as “The future is in the hands of those who know how to foresee it,” and “If you want to do big things, you must think big” has helped to retain a legacy that will continue to remain in our midst for a very long and passion….” Following this, editor as a road car instead. Ferrari’s Anniversary Celebrations get underway With re-enactment of 125 S driving through the Maranello gates Maranello (Italy), 10 March 2017 – On March 12 1947, Enzo Ferrari fired up the 125 S, the first car to bear his name. That test-drive on the streets of Maranello marked the start of modern Ferrari history. The then-modest factory quickly grew into one of the great internationally-renowned Made in Italy icons. Now, exactly 70 years later, on March 12 2017, Ferrari launches its official celebrations for this milestone anniversary. To coincide with the official start of the celebrations and to commemorate the events of 70 years ago, Ferrari is also releasing a special video featuring a re- enactment of the first 12-cylinder to sport the Cavallino Rampante on its bonnet, the 125 S, driving through the factory gates on Via Abetone Inferiore and, in doing so, symbolically passing the baton of the Ferrari legacy to the LaFerrari Aperta. 125 S, the first Ferrari This was the first car to sport the Ferrari badge. Its 12-cylinder engine, vital to powerful performance, was designed by Gioacchino Colombo with Giuseppe Busso and Luigi Bazzi also contributing to the project. On March 12 1947, the 125 S, still an unbodied steel rolling chassis, roared to life for the first time and the great Ferrari adventure began. Two months later, on May 11 1947, the car made its track debut at the Piacenza Circuit. At the wheel of the 125 S (the S referring to its sports car-type bodywork) was Franco Cortese.

What makes its creator an enigma and a legend? Today, building a brand is a calculated and knowing process, but Ferrari arose from far more subtle and organic processes that matched different times. In an Italy ravaged by the Second World War, Enzo Ferrari and a small team decided to create the perfect racing machine. The exhibition, developed together with Ferrari, explores its powerful personality, the seldom-seen design process, manufacturing, its racing history, and the way Ferrari’s famous clientele helped establish its reputation.

  • Ferrari 812 GTS and SF90 Stradale Win Awards from BBC Topgear Magazine
Ferrari 812 GTS and SF90 Stradale win Awards from BBC TopGear Magazine Noise of the Year: Ferrari 812 GTS Eco-Warrior of the Year: Ferrari SF90 Stradale London, 1 December– Ferrari’s long-standing success in the BBC TopGear Magazine awards continues with two awards in 2020 for the Ferrari 812 GTS (Noise of the Year) and Ferrari SF90 Stradale (Eco-Warrior of the Year). This brings Ferrari’s impressive tally of BBC TopGear Magazine Awards to 18 Awards in 17 years. When deciding on the awards, the judges passed the following comments on two of Ferrari’s latest models: Noise of the Year: Ferrari 812 GTS This open-air 812 GTS is a certifiable psychopath. Any car with this engine – a baleful, wailing, soaring 9,000rpm V12 that fellates your ego while it pulverises your senses – would be remarkable. But when it’s matched to steering this reactive, a turn-in appetite that's outrageous for such a girthy beast and a gearbox that somehow sends lightning bolts of dopamine down your spine just from a quick tug of the paddles, it's a driving experience that beggars belief. Eco-warrior of the Year: Ferrari SF90 Stradale The hybrid LaFerrari was a toe in the water, but the SF90 Stradale makes a bigger splash. As years go, 2020 has been many things, but a new Ferrari halo car in which you can commute to work on electric power, with something explosive in reserve for the weekend, tips the scales right back to annus marvellous. Both the 812 GTS and SF90 Stradale are not limited-series cars but are completely new additions to the Ferrari range: the 812 GTS is the first series production convertible V12 since the 365 GTS4, while the SF90 Stradale has created a completely new segment for the brand, with a 1000hp hybrid supercar now available within the standard Ferrari product range.

  • The Ferrari SF90 Stradale – the New Series-Production Supercar
The Ferrari SF90 Stradale – the new series-production supercar The most powerful Prancing Horse car ever references Scuderia Ferrari Maranello, 29 May 2019 – Ferrari introduces a new chapter in its history with the introduction of its first series production PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), the SF90 Stradale, images, videos and information on which can be seen on the dedicated web site: SF90stradale.com. The new model is extreme on every level and represents a true paradigm shift, because it delivers unprecedented performance for a production car. Figures such as 1,000 cv, and a weight-to-power ratio of 1.57 kg/cv, and 390 kg of downforce at 250 km/h not only put the SF90 Stradale at the top of its segment, but also mean that a V8 is the top-of-the-range model for the first time in the marque’s history. The car’s name encapsulates the true significance of all that has been achieved in terms of performance. The reference to the 90th anniversary of the foundation of Scuderia Ferrari underscores the strong link that has always existed between Ferrari’s track and road cars. A brilliant encapsulation of the most advanced technologies developed in Maranello, the SF90 Stradale is also the perfect demonstration of how Ferrari immediately transitions the knowledge and skills it acquires in competition to its production cars. The SF90 Stradale has a 90° V8 turbo engine capable of delivering 780 cv, the highest power output of any 8-cylinder in Ferrari history. The remaining 220 cv is delivered by three electric motors, one at the rear, known as the MGUK (Motor Generator Unit, Kinetic) due to its derivation from the Formula 1 application, located between the engine and the new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission on the rear axle, and two on the front axle.

It was not just the cars that changed during this time; the illustrative styles did too. Pre-order the book. Car Life. Illustrated throughout with specially commissioned color photographs, this provocative profile of the most highly valued cars in the world evokes a world of speed and adventure, with every chrome curve and flared fin suggesting power and passion. The batteries are charged in two ways: during braking and every time the internal combustion engine produces more torque than required, such as in cornering. This boosts transverse and vertical rigidity by 20 per cent. Purists will be overjoyed to know that it is still the rear wheels that actually provide the power, with torque being transferred only to the front axle when required and even then intelligently and predicatively distributed to all four wheels.
