Sold by Lexus since 2005, the line includes several V6 gasoline models, a four-door sedan and a two-door coupe convertible body styles. Additional sedan models are also equipped with a range of four diesel powertrains, and the F version, the IS F, has a V8 engine. The pre-sale of the second-generation IS model was first shown in 2005 at the St. Petersburg Motor Show, with the production version debuting in 2005 at the New York Motor Show. The second generation was only available as a sedan to a two-door coupe Options debuted in 2008. IS is built on a shortened version of the rear-wheel-drive mid-size platform, presented for the third generation Lexus GS, as well as the Toyota Crown and Toyota Mark X used in the Japanese market. however, the convertible coupe continued to be sold until 2014. A history of development after the start of sales of the XE10 in the U.S. in 2000, development began on its successor, the XE20 under the leadership of Chief Engineer Suguya Fukusato in 2001. The design work was done under Kengo Matsumoto for 2 years from 2002 to the end of 2003, when the final conceptual design of Hiroyuki Tada using the new corporate theme of the L-finesse style was chosen. From 2003 to the first half of 2004, the conceptual design was refined into the specification of the production design, which was then approved by the executive board. Design patents were filed in September 2004 in Japan, February 18, 2005 in Europe and February 25, 2005 with the U.S. Patent Office when the development was completed in early 2005. The exterior and internal 2008 Lexus IS 250 (GSE20; USA) Second Generation Lexus IS was the second debut of the new L-finesse lexus design philosophy on the production car after the premiere of the 2006 Lexus GS sedan. The new IS design featured smoother, coupe-like contours, a fastback profile, and a repeated arrowhead motif in the front fascia and side windows based on the Japanese concept of kirikaeshi, citing angular movements. The front design resembled an earlier Lexus LF-C concept. Compared to its predecessor, the second generation IS was 3.5 inches (89 mm) larger and nearly 3 inches (76 mm) wider, mainly due to the 2.3 inch (58 mm) wheeled base stretch. The grille was installed at a lower level than the headlights. The new IS body led to a figure of 0.28 cd. 2007 Lexus IS 350 interior (GSE21; Japan) The second generation IS interior features leather seats, a lightsaber-like electroluminescent lighting display tool and LED accents of interior lighting, 10-way (including lumbar) driver and front passenger seat power, as well as a selection of faux-metal or extra Bird's Eye wood-decoration Yamaha's maple trim. The interior design has also brought out elements from Japanese concepts, including hazushi, where the object retains individuality by being part of a larger whole, as typical of the side vents. Other available interior features include perforated leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, power incline/telescopic steering wheel, lunar hatch, electrochromic side-view mirrors, rear tan and aluminum scuff plates. The 2008 Lexus IS 250 (GSE20; Europe) Lexus IS system has standard dual front airbags, front-row knee airbags, front airbags and rear side curtains, and front torso airbags. The new IS also debuted the last two-camera V-shaped front passenger airbag of its manufacturer. The IS 250 was originally equipped with a Vehicle Stability Control System (VSC), while the IS 350 used a more advanced VDIM system that responds more quickly with less intrusive work. The Pre-Collision (PCS) system is the first offered in the initial luxury sedan market segment. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash test results in 2008 rated IS a maximum of five stars in the category of side driver and rollover, and four stars in the frontal driver, front passenger, and side rear passenger categories. Euro NCAP points were the maximum five stars in the Adult Occupant film, four stars in Child Occupant and two of the four stars in the Pedestrian test categories. The Insurance Institute for Road Safety gives the Lexus IS sedan a good overall score for both front and side impact tests, as well as is ranking IS Good in all other measured categories in front and side crash impact tests, but gives it a poor score for a small front overlap. Lexus IS 250 (GSE20R) F Sport (Australia) 2010-2011 Specifications for IS 250, IS 350 and IS F, engines equipped with direct injection system D-4S manufacturer; these models are certified by the California Air Resources Board of ULEV-II in the United States. The IS line is also equipped with an electricity control system (EPS), which replaces the previous hydraulic steering pump. The second-generation Lexus IS specifications also include windshield wipers for rain sensing, Intuitive Park Assist (IPA), bisenon headlights, adaptive front-facing lighting system (AFS) and dynamic cruise control radar. Lexus' SmartAccess without key recording with the touch of a start button is a standard feature along with a memory system that can remember the driver's seat, side mirror, and steering position. The Gen V high-resolution DVD sensory navigation system with voice recognition, Bluetooth, backup camera and Mark Levinson premium sound system is available as options. 2010-2011 Lexus 250 (GSE20R; Australia) Updates In response to criticism due to the lack of stability/traction control to disable the switch on the 2006 IS model, The Lexus added a VDIM/VSC switch for the 2007 model year. For the 2006 IS models, the stability/traction control system can be disabled by unconventional methods using code during the Engine. In 2007, in IS models, in addition to a switch for the traction control system, Lexus added a roof-mounted shark fin antenna in some markets. (Australian models supplied by IS did not receive a fin-style antenna until their first appearance on IS F's For the 2008 models, the steering system was configured to improve steering, and the rear seats were modified to improve the rear seat. The mid-cycle update of 2008 for the 2009 model year (designed by Takahiro Kanno in 2007) included a revised interior and exterior style, suspension and steering were reconfigured to improve stability and control, and the IS 250 also received A VDIM as standard for the 2009 model year. In 2009, Masanari Sakae developed changes to the IS line that were recorded in November 2009 in Japan and April 27, 2010 in Europe. In the second quarter of 2010 (2011 MY), these new changes were introduced, featuring an updated exterior with new wheels, LED daytime running lights, additional interior features, and dedicated IS F-Sport production models. Standard GSE20/GSE21 (2005) IS 250 (GSE20) models went on sale in 2005 in Japan and North America in the RWD (GSE20) and IS 250 AWD (GSE25) configuration, along with the more powerful rear-wheel drive IS 350 (GSE21) sedan. The IS 250 RWD comes in standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 6-speed automatic transmission is available as an option. All other IS petrol sedans are only available with a machine gun. 2010-2011 Lexus 350 (GSE21; Australia) IS 350 separates large brake discs and wicketkeepers borrowed from the GS 430; The big IS 350 wicketkeepers are four-piston, not two-piston front wicketkeepers IS 250.

  • The Lexus Range Experience Amazing
THE LEXUS RANGE EXPERIENCE AMAZING Since the launch of the LS 400 sedan in 1989, Lexus has become a synonym for exceptional quality and incredibly refined luxury cars. Determined to offer more than this, recently we’ve launched a new generation of vehicles: cars that stand out from the crowd and defy convention. Models like the exciting new UX compact crossover and the provocative yet elegant ES executive sedan. Based on a uniquely Japanese aesthetic of harmony without compromise, Lexus design is now more distinctive and single-minded than ever. However, head turning looks would be nothing without incredible performance. Inspired by the iconic Lexus LFA supercar that was launched in 2010, our ‘Master Drivers’, have worked tirelessly to identify and articulate the unique flavour of driving excitement. With this hard won knowledge we’ve now enhanced the precise and elegant nature of every Lexus with a sizeable dose of adrenaline: creating an exhilarating new driving experience that starts when you approach a car like the LC luxury coupé, and continues as long as you drive and cherish it. Unsurprisingly, technology plays a huge role in our work. We see innovation as a never-ending process, and are committed to anticipating future needs and desires. This approach has led to major automotive breakthroughs like the world’s first Self-Charging Hybrid in 2004 – the RX 400h – and now Multi Stage Hybrid that powers the LS 500h and LC 500h. Despite our intense focus on the future, we’re immensely proud of the world-class build quality of our cars, which is overseen by our ‘Takumi’ artisans.

Jeff Bracken, GVP & GM, Lexus Division: 2018 NAIAS - Remarks January 15, 2018 As prepared for: Jeff Bracken, Group Vice President & General Manager, Lexus Division 2018 Detroit Auto Show Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept Vehicle Reveal Cobo Center, Detroit January 15, 2018 Good morning everyone… That was an exclusive sneak peek of a new spot for our LC 500 Coupe showcasing Lexus performance and our exciting collaboration with Marvel Studios Black Panther movie. This commercial begins airing next week but we wanted you to get a chance to see it first right here. This LC coupe spot perfectly sets up our Super Bowl ad for the all-new fifth-generation LS — the flagship model that started it all for Lexus. You’ll have to wait a couple more weeks to see that LS ad. But there is one thing about our all-new LS and LS hybrid which hits dealer showrooms next month that I will share with you today. One of the hallmarks of the LS has been amazing luxury at a value price and I’m happy to say that will continue. The starting price of the turbocharged LS will be $75,000. On a comparably equipped basis that’s a $4,000 value over the current gas model and the LS hybrid will start at just $79,510. Kind of brings new meaning to “value” in the prestige sedan segment. Now let's talk about our future concept model. Just about any newspaper, magazine or website regarding the automotive industry seems to find its way to autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence.

  • Lexus Carves out a New Flagship Luxury Crossover with Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept All-New Concept Debuts at North American International Auto Show
Lexus Carves Out a New Flagship Luxury Crossover with Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept All-New Concept Debuts at North American International Auto Show DETROIT – Jan. 15, 2018 - Like molten metal being forged into a fine Japanese sword, the lines of the Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept have the potential to shape the future of a flagship luxury crossover for Lexus. Lexus established the luxury crossover segment two decades ago with the global debut of the RX 300 at Detroit. It remains the top-selling luxury crossover despite nearly 50 competitors that have since entered the segment. Now, the Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept introduces a new genre of luxury vehicle: the flagship crossover. Combining high performance with unrestrained luxury, the Lexus LF-1 Limitless is a showcase of technology, innovation and the latest evolution of design at Lexus. Like its name, the possibilities for powertrains are limitless. The LF-1 concept could be powered by fuel cell, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, gasoline, or even all-electric. By around 2025, every Lexus model around the world will be available either as a dedicated electrified model, or have an electrified option. The innovative spirit of the LF-1 was created at CALTY Design Research in California. The design language is rooted in the simple yet elegant design concept dubbed “molten katana”. This design visualization fuses the organic shapes of liquid metal with the sharp edges of a traditional Japanese sword. Imagining that shift from a smooth, flowing mass into a solid, chiseled shape formed the basis for the fluid, yet aggressive design of the LF-1 Limitless.
