Milestone win for Dani Pedrosa n addition to extending his winning career to greater than 14 years as detailed above, Dani Pedrosa’s win was Isignificant in other ways:

2016 is the 15th successive season that Pedrosa has taken at least one grand prix win across the three classes. The only rider who has previously achieved this is Valentino Rossi who had at least one grand prix win for 15 successive seasons from 1996 to 2010, inclusive. He has won at least one race in the MotoGP class every year for 11 successive seasons. Only two other riders have achieved this in the premier-class: Valentino Rossi, who won at least one race for 11 successive seasons (2000 to 2010 inclusive) and , who won at least one 500cc GP race for 12 successive seasons, 1965 to 1976 inclusive. Pedrosa’s win at Misano was the 52nd time he has stood on the top step of the podium in grand prix racing, the same number of career GP wins achieved by Phi Read. His win at Misano was after not finishing in the top three at the five previous races - his longest sequence of GP starts without a podium since his rookie year in the 125cc class in 2001. This was Pedrosa’s first win in Europe since the Czech Grand Prix in 2014 and his first win in Italy since his victory at Misano in 2010.

Amazing record breaking season continues he amazing record breaking season of grand prix racing continued at Misano with Dani Pedrosa winning for the first Ttime in 2016 and Lorenzo Baldassarri taking his maiden GP victory:

There have been eight different MotoGP winners already in 2016 (Marquez, Rossi, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Viñales, Iannone, Crutchlow, Miller) and with five races of the season still to come this already the greatest number of different winners in a single season in the MotoGP era. The only other year in the 68 year history of grand prix racing that there were eight different winners in a premier-class season was in 2000, when the eight different 500cc GP winners were: Jnr, Garry McCoy, Valentino Rossi, Max Biaggi, Alex Barros, Alex Criville, Loris Capirossi and Norick Abe. The last eight races in the MotoGP class have been won by eight different riders. This is the longest ever sequence of successive different winners in the premier-class of grand prix racing. With Jack Miller’s victory at the Dutch TT, Andrea Iannone’s in Austria, Cal Crutchlow at Brno and Maverick Viñales at Silverstone, there have been four first time winners in the MotoGP class in 2016. The last year in which there were four first time winners in a single season was in in 1982 with Franco Uncini, , and Michel Frutschi - who won the French GP at Nogaro that was boycotted by most of the top riders. There has never been a season in the premier-class with five first time winners. At the San Marino grand prix Lorenzo Baldassarri took his maiden GP victory, making it seven different winners in the first thirteen Moto2 races of the year (Zarco, Rins, Luthi, Lowes, Folger, Nakagami and Baldassarri) The seven different winners in the Moto2 class represent seven different nations: France, Spain, Switzerland, Great Britain, Germany, Japan and Italy. There have been eight different winners in the Moto3 class this year. This is already the greatest number of different winners in a single season in the lightweight-class of grand prix racing since 2008, when there were also eight different winners. Of the eight different riders who have won in the Moto3 class this year, for six of them it has been their maiden GP win. The last time that there has been so many first time grand prix winners in a single season in the lightweight-class of grand prix racing was 2005. There have been 23 different winners this year across the three classes of grand prix racing, and with five events of 2016 remaining this is already the largest number of different grand prix winners in a single season since 1974 - when the grand prix series also included the 350cc and 50cc classes and there were a record 24 different winners. Considering just the current three classes or equivalent there has never been as many as twenty three different winners in a single season in the 68 year history of grand prix racing. Of the 23 different riders who have won this year, for nine of them it has been the first time that they have stood on the top step of a GP podium. This is the highest number of riders taking their maiden GP victory in a season since 2003 when there were also nine first time winners.

Brad Binder could clinch Moto3 title in Aragon t the Aragon Grand Prix has the chance to become the first South African rider to win a grand prix title Asince won the 350cc title in 1980. The most likely scenarios to give Binder the title are as follows:

If Binder finishes first or second he will be world champion irrespective of where his closest rivals finish. If Binder finishes third he will be champion if closest rival Enea Bastianini does not win the race. If Binder finishes fourth, fifth or sixth he will be champion if Bastianini does not finish either first or second and Jorge Navarro does not win the race. If Binder finishes seventh he will be champion if Bastianini does not finish on the podium and Jorge Navarro does not win the race. If Binder finishes eighth or ninth he will be champions if Bastianini does not finish on the podium, Navarro does not finish either first or second and Bulega does not win the race.

Note: It is still possible for Binder to win the title finishing lower than ninth, but it then gets more highly dependent on where his rivals finish.
