In 1980, the Special Committee against Apartheid decided to publish a "register of sports contacts with South Africa" in order to promote the full implementation of the United Nations resolutions for the cessation of all sports exchanges with South Africa. 2. The register includes names of sportsmen and sportswomen who have already participated in sports events in South Africa (see annex to the present paper). The names of those who have given an undertaking not to engage in further sports contacts in South Africa were deleted from the register and are shown separately. 3. Most Governments and international sports bodies have taken action to boycott apartheid sport. However, some sportsmen and sportswomen, sports bodies, promotions and others continue to collaborate actively with apartheid sports bodies, enabling them to continue to participate in international sports exchanges. The Special Committee hopes that the publicizing of the sports exchanges and the names of individuals and organizations involved will help Governments, organizations and individuals to persuade those concerned to cease further collaboration with South Africa. 4. The most notable victory against apartheid sport was the suspension of the South African team from the Olympics in 1964 and its expulsion in 1970. Since then, South Africa has been expelled from a series of codes of sports including: amateur boxing, athletics, badminton, basketball, canoeing, chess, cricket, cycling, football (soccer), swimming, table tennis, water-skiing, weight-lifting and wrestling. South Africa's applications for affiliation to many other codes of sports have been rejected. 5. In some sports federations where the system of weighted votes prevails, it has so far not been possible to acquire the required majorities to exclude South Africa. Even in such cases, however, there have been boycotts by individual countries, teams and/or sportsmen and sportswomen in protest against the participation of apartheid South African teams, and the pressure for the exclusion of South Africa has grown. 6. The Special Committee against Apartheid, in co-operation with the South African Non-Racial Olympic Committee (SAN-ROC) and the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa (SCSA) organized two international conferences against apartheid sport, the first in London in 1983 and the second in Paris in 1985. The consultations at the two conferences among the representatives of sports bodies, Governments, anti-apartheid groups and prominent sports personalities prepared the ground for a more vigorous campaign against apartheid sports. 7. In the face of growing opposition against apartheid sports contacts, South Africa has been offering exorbitant sums of money to lure international sports stars to South Africa. However, many prominent sportsmen and women have rejected these offers. -3 - Annex CONSOLIDATED LIST OF SPORTSMEN AND SPORTSWOMEN WHO PARTICIPATED IN SPORTS EVENTS IN SOUTH AFRICA FROM 1 SEPTEMBER 1980 TO 31 DECEMBER 1985 Spor t Sportsperson Boxing Motor sports (car racing and Grand Prix) Polo Rugby Roberto Alfaro Abel Breur Roberto Candori Fominho D'Elia Ramon Dominguez Cesar Duarte Lorenzo Garcia Walter Gomez Santos Laciar Juan Domingo Malverez Julio Melure Juan Antonio Musladino Ruben Pardo Hector Patri Victor Robledo Jesds Romero Adolfo Rossi Ram6n Soria Tito Lectoure (promoter) Carlos Reuteman Ricardo Zunino Horacio Araya Juan Jos6 Blaguier Luis Maria Blaquier Martin Blaguier Enrique Braun Jorge Allen Marcos-Maria Baeck Gonzalez Beccar-Verela Sliso Branca Marcello Campo Diego-Maria Cash Andr~s Courreges Serafin Dengra Ricardo de Vedia Francisco Elizagaray Country Argentina Sportsperson Argentina (continued) Rugby (continued) Rugby teams Shooting Tennis Australia Aeronautics Body-bu i ld ing Bowls Guillermo Holmgren Marcello Lopez-Imizoz Bernardo Miguens Javier Miguens Gustavo Milano Buenaventura Minguez Fernando Morel Marcello Morelli Andres Nicholson Jos4-Maria Palma Tomis Petersen Juan Pablo Piccardo Hugo Porta Jorge de Prat Gray Alejandro Puccio Martin Sansot Alejandro Schiavo Diego Cuenesta Silva Fabian Turnes Ernesto Ure Fernando Venegas Domingo Beriatua (administrator) Oscar-Carlos Martfnez-Basante (manager) Hector Silva (coach) C6rdoba Fisherton College St. George's College Los Toros (also known as Banco de las Naciones) Alvero Aquico Braghini Gurcio Muga Ranfgeni Recio Jos4-Luis Clerc Guillermo Vilas Robert Saad Tracey Tabart Sammy Ioanides Barry Salter Country -4 - Sport Sportsperson Australia (continued) Cricket Terry Alderman John Dyson Peter Faulkner Mike Haysman Tom Hogan Rodney Hogg Trevor Hohns Kim Hughes John Maguire Rod McCurdy Carl Rackeman Steve Rixon Greg Shipperd Steve Smith Mike Taylor Graham Yallop Bruce Francis (manager) Dr. Frank Polese (physiotherapist) Murray Hall Ben Lyons David Graham Greg Norman C. MICHELIN DOSSIER DE PRENSA MotoGP 2016 BIENVENIDO El retorno de Michelin es incontestablemente la gran novedad de MotoGP para la temporada de 2016.
