Happy New Year! I hope that you enjoyed a restful and happy holiday with your families.

K-4 Program The K-4 program with Miss Sue will be starting January 14th! We are so glad to have you with us! The program will run every Tuesday and Thursday.

KazCan After School Program Will resume on Tuesday, January 14th and will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30pm – 4:00pm. This is a wonderful program to help students with their homework. If your child is not already signed up and would like to join please send a note or call the school for a registration form. Please note; once you are registered you cannot make changes unless there has been a 24-48 hours notice.

War Museum – Friday, January 17th We have been accepted through a school access program to visit the Canadian War Museum in . Cost of admission & bus will be covered by the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation. More information to follow with permission slip.

Cycle 3 Overnight Monday, January 20th & Tuesday, January 21st, the cycle 3 (grade 5 & 6) class will be going on an overnight ski trip. This is part of the outdoor education program with Alan Earwaker. The class will be practicing to build up their endurance, please make sure your child comes to school prepared to be cross country skiing every day this week and next week. More information to follow with permission slip and camping list.

Governing Board The next governing board meeting is January 23rd from 2:30 – 4:00. All parents are welcome. Anyone who would like to discuss a certain topic, kindly notify the school 48 hours prior to the meeting. This will allow us to place the topic on the agenda and allot a few minutes for discussion.

Fundraisers The ipad raffle was a huge success. The total profit was $815.00. Proceeds from this fundraiser are going toward a camera system for the school. The camera system will be installed early in the new year. The bake sale on Dec. 17th brought in $155.00. Thank you to everyone for participating in these events. Winter is here! Please make sure that students are sent to school with appropriate clothes for the weather… a winter jacket, snow pants, warm boots, hats and mitts as well as a change of socks, pants, and extra mittens would be great.

Inclement Weather Policy I am sure everyone is well aware of how this works, we certainly had enough practice. If not, here is a reminder; In the event that schools are closed or transportation is cancelled due to inclement weather, the information will be posted online at:

After this process the school’s phone chain will be started. Therefore, when there is bad weather and bus or school cancellation could be a possibility please listen to one of the above radio stations and wait for the phone chain to be activated.
