Warszawa in 2 days Mini guide www.noclegwarszawa.com.pl tel. 506-000-200 This guide is for you - take it with you

Visiting . Day 1.

11:00 [time: 3h] - I suggest visiting Warsaw with the Zygmunt's Column at the Royal Castle. Every day, all year round, here at 11:00 you can meet a city guide with an orange umbrella. Visiting (in English) organizing by, for example, Orange Umbrella Free Tour Warsaw is free (later you can give a tip) and lasts 3 hours. You can say that this is the history of the city in a nutshell and it is very good to start your adventure with Warsaw just from quickly learning about its past.

As an amateur historian and tour guide, I can say that the knowledge that our guide Gosia possessed was of a fairly high level, and she herself spoke in a very interesting and understandable way. In addition, the photographs of Warsaw presented during the war are a great help for tourists who do not realize the scale of damage.

Well, as a supporter of propagating in the world of Polish culture and a great fan of our traditions - especially culinary ones - I was delighted that at the end of the tour the whole group got a sandwich with lard and cucumber (one of the better lard I've eaten!) And a glass of perfectly frozen vodka .

14:00 [time: 1-2h] - after sightseeing with a guide you can still be in the Old Town and, for example, visit the Old Town Cellars () opened recently under tenement houses, which until now housed the Historical Museum of the Capital City of Warsaw. You can also visit the Royal Castle or just have a cheap dinner at the Barbakan milk bar near - as the name suggests - Barbakanie.

str. 1 For a moment, you can once again enter the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist ("once again", because inside the guide also tells something) and look at the Baroque Baroque Chapel on the left side of the main altar. It is the best preserved fragment of the destroyed in 1944, in which you can see a gothic crucifix with human hair from the beginning of the 16th century. It was hidden from the and today is the most important place of worship for Varsovians.

15:00 / 16:00 [time: 1h] - then it is worth going down the street Krakowskie Przedmieście - one of the most historic streets in Warsaw. On the way, you can look into the church of St. Anny with a beautiful baroque interior (this church I recommend EVERYONE - it is really beautiful!).

And attention - while walking Krakowskie Przedmieście, it is worth looking for black benches playing 's music. I am a huge enthusiast, because it is a really ingenious tourist attraction, which not only gives Krakowskie Przedmieście an even more unique character, but also allows passers-by to find out what is the place where the bench was set, with Fryderyk Chopin. Benches are arranged from the beginning of Przedmieście to Łazienki Królewskie.

At the monument to Mickiewicz, turn right to the Grand Theater (we will be at its back, so you have to walk around it to see the facade), and then to the Saski Garden with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. From here you can go straight back to Krakowskie Przedmieście.

We will go somewhere to the right of the Bristol Hotel, the most expensive and the most luxurious hotel in Warsaw. On the left is the Presidential Palace with a copy of the monument of Prince Józef Poniatowski by Danczyk Bertel Thorvaldsen from the 19th century - the original was blown up by the Nazis in 1944 and its fragments can be seen

str. 2 today in the , and a copy of the Kingdom of after the war. .

Going to the right of the Bristol Hotel, we pass the and the monument of , also by Thorvaldsen, original, although destroyed during the war and restored later.

Then, Krakowskie Przedmieście turns into Nowy Świat. At the intersection with ul. Świętokrzyska, you can go left and in a few hundred meters you will reach the , while if you go straight to the end of the street (and a roundabout with a palm tree), you will finish your walk right next to the National Museum. If you want to visit the museum, remember that the ticket counters are closed at 17:15 from Tuesday to Sunday, and on Thursdays at 20:15. from 18:00 - the first evening is best to get to know Warsaw at dusk, for example around the Center metro, Plac Konstytucji, Stare and Nowe Miasto. And in the summer, go to the Vistula Fountain Multimedia Park, where on Fridays and Saturdays from May to September at 21:00 (June-August 21:30) you can watch the water-light-sound show.

str. 3 Visiting Warsaw. Day 2.

10:30 [time: 3h] - a tour of the second day can start with the Museum of the King Jan III Sobieski Palace in Wilanów. Definitely one of the most important and most beautiful monuments in Warsaw and even in .

The Wilanów Palace was lucky to survive the war almost intact, and today you can see beautiful royal interiors and admire the architecture that combines European baroque art with Polish traditions of builders.

An alternative option is to visit the modern Warsaw Uprising Museum, where an exhibition has been arranged that affects all the senses of the viewer (eg in the speakers you can hear the sounds of the city from 1944). [visiting time: 2h]

14:00 [time: 1h] - if the weather is good, I encourage you to visit the Royal Łazienki Park - a park with numerous classical monuments founded in the 18th century by King Stanisław August Poniatowski. Especially, of course, I recommend visiting the Palace on the Island (Palace on the Water), the summer residence of Stanisław August, and the White House, where the later French king Louis XVIII stayed for some time.

Next to the Palace on the Island is one of the oldest court theaters in Europe - Teatr na Wyspie from 1790 (in summer it is still in use!).

The Palace on the Island was burned during World War II and rebuilt immediately after it. While the Theater on the Island is original, because the Germans stated that if the decor is already damaged (it was not - it was designed specifically for the model of ancient ruins), it does not make sense to waste energy on re-destroying the Theater. The White House, the first building in Lazienki, built at the request of the last king of Poland, avoided the devastation and today you can admire the interiors of the eighteenth century, which retained its original design.

str. 4 16:00 [time: 30 minutes] - at the end you can go to the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture and Science, from where you can see the whole of Warsaw. The panorama may not be very impressive, but in the summer the viewing terrace is open longer and you can admire the city at dusk, when it is beautifully illuminated.

If you already have a view of PKiN, I suggest visiting one of the museums, such as the Fryderyk Chopin Museum or the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, or at the historic cemetery at Powązki.

What else?

Warsaw is really much more than the places described.

Probably many of you are thinking about visiting the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews - remember to devote two hours to this place, and preferably even three. It's easy to lose track of time here!

It is worth visiting the Praga district with pre-war buildings and seeing the church of St. Mary Magdalene (visiting until 16:00), also the original architecture can boast of the Warsaw University of Technology.

The New Town with Freta Street or the nearby Bonifraterska and Miodowa Streets are also worth recommending.

Those interested in the history of the twentieth century, especially during World War II, may also go to the area of the former ghetto or to the Pawiak Prison Museum.

And if you're looking for something more entertaining, then I recommend Escape Game in the Old Town, which is an escape room game, where you're locked up and within 60 minutes you have to solve the puzzles that will lead you to the key. It's only thanks to him that you can get out of the room. And if you do not make it, you will stay in it forever ... ha ha ha
