From the President

Thank you for entering one of our Sydney Royal Competitions. It is an absolute privilege to see first-hand the incredible range and standard of entries we attract each year to our competitions. It is thanks to entrants such as yourself that our competitions are so highly anticipated and regarded.

There is no doubt it has been an incredibly difficult 12 months for all involved with the Sydney Royal Easter Show and our competitions and we appreciate, more than ever, your trust in our events and your willingness to work hard and be ‘competition ready’.

Highlighting excellence, and the ethos of striving to always be better, we acknowledge a remarkable contribution from the rural and regional communities that are proud of all they are achieving despite conditions that should be working against them. It is a testament to the resilience of all involved with Australian agriculture, livestock and produce that entry numbers remain high and the standard is extremely competitive.

As I thank all competitors I must also thank our judges for giving their time so willingly and sharing their expertise with all involved. Also thank you to our generous sponsors along with our Committees, Councillors, Breed Societies and supporters.

On behalf of everyone involved with the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sydney Royal competitions and the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW as a whole, I hope you have enjoyed your Sydney Royal experience and I encourage you to join in the tradition of entering every year.

Jeff House Carcase Jeff is from Forbes in NSW and has been involved in the cattle industry for 28 years. Jeff is the Principle of Jeff House Livestock Pty Ltd, a private livestock consulting business established in 2014 to provide training and advisory services through the beef supply chain, including beef cattle producer’s and feedlot operators. Jeff’s areas of expertise include carcase assessment and feedback; cattle breeding, genetic selection, nutrition, live animal assessment and feedlot operation and quality assurance. Jeff has been judging for 22 years and in the past twelve months has judged carcases in a number of competitions including the 2019 RAS Purebred Steer and Carcase Competition, 2019 Bega AP&H Society Hoof & Hook Competition, 2020 National Capital Steer & Heifer Hoof & Hook Competition and the 2020 NSW Beef Spectacular Feedback Trial. Jeff says ‘It is an honour to once again be invited to judge the RAS Purebred Carcase competitions. The number and the quality of the entries make the RAS one of the premier carcase competitions in the country. The Purebred competition showcases the abilities of the purebreds to produce exceptional quality carcases in both meat yield and eating quality. Demonstrating the skills of exhibitors to breed and prepare animals to the market specifications required’.

Tahnee Manton Carcase Tahnee joins us from Glen Innes, NSW and has been involved in the cattle industry for 22 years. Tahnee’s involvement with the beef industry started at high school, showing and judging cattle. Since then Tahnee has been extensively involved in a number of facets of the industry. Tahnee has also bred and shown a number of local show and Royal Show Champions, both seedstock and steers. Tahnee has been involved in the seedstock industry for 17 years, through not only breeding her own cattle, but also the management of a successful Angus herd. Tahnee currently works as a Livestock Officer with the Northern Tablelands Local Land Services, delivering advisory and extension services to local landholders. Tahnee’s first judging appointment was as an associate Judge at Inverell Show in 2002, with renowned QLD cattleman Gary Noller. Tahnee has judged at a number of country shows in the northern Tablelands, mid- north and north coast and Northern rivers.
