Digital Commons Publishing Services is designed for editors and institutions ready to take the next step in professionalizing their journals. Participating journals benefit from professional publishing infrastructure and services previously reserved for large publishers. Digital Commons The program connects journals to dozens of library and publisher tools in a single Publishing step by: Services • managing memberships, legal agreements, and fees • carrying out the technical setup, followup, and troubleshooting • providing strategic support to orient the institution and editors to this new landscape Digital Commons Publishing Services can help you reach global readers by showcasing your scholarship with the quality hallmarks necessary in today’s publishing world Because journals can have different sets of needs, we offer two tiers of Digital Commons Publishing Services. DIGITAL COMMONS PUBLISHING SERVICES Professional 1. PRESERVATION IN CLOCKSS AND PORTICO Journals are included in CLOCKSS and Portico, both recognized long-term preserva- tion archives founded by leading libraries and commercial publishers. 2. LIBRARY DISCOVERY PLATFORMS AND LINK RESOLVERS Articles are delivered to library discovery platforms: OCLC (Worldcat), Ex Libris (Primo), ProQuest (Serial Solutions / Summon), and EBSCO Discovery. Additionally, we list jour- nals with KBART, ensuring they are exposed to link resolvers. 3. DOIs Journals are included in CrossRef, and we create, assign, display, and register DOIs for published articles in accordance with CrossRef’s requirements. The journal needs to comply with CrossRef’s outbound linking requirement, and bepress can suggest several easy tools. 4. JOURNAL INDEXES AND DATABASES Once the journal has applied and been accepted to indexes and databases (such as Scopus, EconLit, EBSCO, Westlaw, or any local or national archives), we manage auto- matic metadata feeds, as well as full-text feeds when possible. In addition, we register the journal in Ulrich’s, and obtains an ISSN for the journal. DIGITAL COMMONS PUBLISHING SERVICES Premier In addition to everything included with Professional services, Premier offers: 5. STRATEGIC ADVISING Journals subscribing to the Premier tier of Publishing Services are eligible for strate- gic advising services which support editors with topics related to indexing, journal improvement and growth. JOURNAL IMPACT REPORTS Editors will receive a yearly Journal Impact Report, which compiles data from a variety Publishing of sources to help editors understand the impact their journal is having. Data included in the report details: downloads per year, notable organizations that are engaging with Services the journal, submissions per year, rejection rate, average turnaround time per year, and altmetric data. 7. TYPESETTING We work with third-party vendors to offer 400 pages of custom-typesetting to journals subscribing to the Premier service. This service includes page proofs, two correction cycles, electronic image conversion/sizing, final web/print PDFs as needed, full-text XML and outbound linking for DOIs. 8. CONNECTION TO ADDITIONAL THIRD-PARTY PRODUCTION SERVICES For support with more complex production processes—outbound linking for DOIs, XML conversion, deposit in PubMedCentral, copyediting, custom typesetting, print on demand, and print production – we can refer the publisher and/or editors to third- party vendors offering production services. www.bepress.com/products/digital-commons www.elsevier.com/solutions/digital-commons.
