The LRIP implementation continues to progress in a satisfactory manner, with some delays observed in the preparation of design studies. All civil works activities planned under the original and LRIP-AF1, and several planned for LRIP-AF2, are already completed. About 56% of Bank funds have been already disbursed and the AF1 closed in December 31, 2011. 2. Based on past and current progress, it is still highly likely that the targets of the LRIP would be exceeded. The second additional financing to the LRIP is expected to close on Public Disclosure Copy December 31, 2013. 3. The Transport PIU recently submitted several Terms of References for the recruiting of additional staff. It is expected that 2 procurement specialists, a chief accountant, an office manager, and 3 engineers (including a deputy director of the PIU) would be recruited in the coming months. Page 1 of 10 Public Disclosure Authorized The World Bank Report No: ISR6150 4. The Bank is working with the Ministry of Transport and Communication (MoTC) to ensure the use of more efficient design based on traffic and road conditions, and to address the issue of limited maintenance on lifeline roads in order to enhance the sustainability of road infrastructure investment.
