Chaney and Brown: Is Black Motherhood A Marker of Oppression or Empowerment? Hip-Ho BLACK MOTHERHOOD . Is Black Motherhood A Marker of Oppression or Empowerment? Hip-Hop and R&B Lessons about “Mama” Cassandra Chaney and Arielle Brown A qualitative content analysis was conducted on the lyrics of 59 songs (40 Hip Hop songs; 17 R&B songs; 2 songs that represented the Hip Hop and R&B genre) from 1961-2013 to identify the ways that Black male and Black female artists described motherhood. The songs were determined by Billboard Chart Research Services, and Black Feminist Theory provided the theoretical foundation on which the themes were identified. Qualitative analysis of the lyrics revealed Black motherhood in R&B and Hip Hop to be based on the following four typologies: (1) Motherhood as Source of Emotional Comfort and Support; (2) Motherhood as Source of Strength and Self-Confidence; (3) Motherhood as Superior to Fatherhood; (4) Motherhood as Teacher and Disciplinarian; and (5) Motherhood Instills Unconditional Endless Love. Supporting qualitative lyrics are provided to support each of the aforementioned themes. For most Black women, the ability to create, nurture, and provide for their progeny holds boundless personal, cultural, and social significance. Although racism, sexism, and classism frequently make motherhood difficult,1 becoming a mother is one of the most salient personal and social identity symbols for many Black women. Somerset/Stereo Fidelity by David Edwards, Patrice Eyries & Mike Callahan © 2018 by Mike Callahan Somerset/Stereo Fidelity Records Discography Somerset Records was a division of Miller International Co. located in Media Pennsylvania. David L Miller was the President and had previously owned, Essex Records and Trans-World Records. Somerset was started in 1958. The output of the label was popular, jazz and classical. Of the first 63 releases on Somerset, 62 of them were straight reissues of Trans-World albums. After Somerset/Stereo Fidelity, Miller was involved with two other budget labels Alshire and Sutton. The Sales Manager was Joe Martin and Miller handled A&R. Somerset was a budget label whose albums listed for sale for $1.98, when most albums sold for $3.98 in the ‘50s and ‘60s. A subsidiary label was Stereo Fidelity, the only difference between the two labels was that the monaural record was a Somerset and the stereo record was on the Stereo Fidelity label. The numbers were the same. Main Series Canadian LP’s in this series did not use the last two zeros, for example SF-12700 was SF-127, leading to endless confusion about the Somerset release numbers. Soulja Slim Albums Download the Streets Made Me
soulja slim albums download The Streets Made Me. Another new release from Master P's label, Soulja Army Records, The Streets Made Me is the second album by Southern rapper Soulja Slim. As is the case with many of Master P's releases, the real star of the album is the production. Handled mainly by production wizard Beats by the Pound, the album has an original style that manages to shake the cobwebs off of No Limit's trademark sound. His technical mastery makes cliché- riddled tracks, like the playful "That's My Hoe" and "Ya Heard Me," sound fresh. On "Straight to the Dance Floor," he manages to get away with sampling Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" and make it his own. As for Soulja Slim, he doesn't just come along for the ride -- he adds his own unique style to the mix. While he spends plenty of time rapping about thug life in tracks like "I'm a Fool" and "What You Came Fo'," he also seems to have grown a bit of a conscience on "Soulja for Life." It would be nice to see Soulja Slim explore that consciousness. The Streets Made Me provides everything a No Limit soldier could ask for. Soulja Slim Discography Rar Downloads. Mostafa Dehghani Dr. Sander van Splunter University of Amsterdam University of Amsterdam [email protected] [email protected] First supervisor Second supervisor Abstract This thesis demonstrates the use of sequence-to-sequence learning for the automatic generation of novel English rap lyrics, with the goal of generating lyrics with similar qualities to those of humans in terms of rhyme, idiom, structure, and novelty. The sequence-to-sequence model tries to learn the best parameters for generating target sequences given source sequences, and is trained on over 1.6 million source-target pairs, containing lyrics from 348 different rap artists. The automatic evaluations of each of the four characteristics show that idiom and structure have the best performance, whereas rhyme and novelty should be improved to be in a similar range of human lyrics.
