In total, the new player development system includes 179 teams across 17 leagues in 43 states and four provinces. Including the AZL and GCL, there are 209 teams across 19 leagues in 44 states and four provinces. That includes the 150 teams in the PDL and AZL/GCL along with the four partner leagues: the American Association, Atlantic League, Frontier League and Pioneer League. Triple-A East consists on 20 teams; all 14 from the International League, plus teams moving from the Pacific Coast League, the Southern League and the independent Atlantic League. Triple-A West is comprised of nine Pacific Coast League teams and one addition from the Atlantic League. Outfielder Christin Stewart and right-handed reliever Adam Ravenelle will represent the organization at the league’s annual showcase game. Not selected this season was centerfielder JaCoby Jones. Stewart has struggled this fall, hitting .198 (7-for-37) with one home run and three RBIs in 10 games. The second-round draft pick out of Tennessee in 2015 had a strong debut for his first full professional season, with 30 home runs and 87 RBIs at Class A Lakeland and Double-A Erie. Ravenelle should garner consideration for a big league call-up sometime next season. Armed with a high-90 m.p.h. fastball, the righty out of Vanderbilt has allowed one hit in six innings this fall. He has recorded four saves for the Salt River Rafters, striking out three and walking three. Jones is playing well, going 13-for-39 in 11 games, with one home run and seven RBIs. Jones, who logged limited time with the Tigers last season, could compete for the starting centerfielder job if the team decides against picking up Cameron Maybin’s $9-million contract option and elects to fill the spot internally.

Cincinnati Reds Press Clippings January 23, 2018 THIS DAY IN REDS HISTORY 1992-The Reds sign Scott Bankhead of the Mariners as a free-agent. Bankhead will spend one season with the Reds, collecting a 10-4 record, with a 2.93 ERA in 70.2 innings pitched, allowing just four home runs MLB.COM Senzel named No. 2 third base prospect Highly-touted player set to experiment with SS/2B, outfield in Spring Training By Mark Sheldon MLB.com @m_sheldon 12:48 AM ET CINCINNATI -- Nick Senzel was an elite and highly anticipated prospect the moment the Reds selected him with the second overall pick in 2016. That latest accolade was revealed on Tuesday when Senzel was ranked as the No. 2 third baseman in the Minor Leagues by MLB Pipeline. Senzel, 22, placed one spot behind the No. 1 third baseman, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays. Ranked No. 1 in the organization by MLB Pipeline, and No. 9 in all of MLB, Senzel batted .321/.391/.514 with 14 home runs and 65 RBIs in 119 games combined last season at Class A Advanced Daytona and Double-A Pensacola. He missed a few games in the final week while being treated for vertigo, but has overcome the issue through therapy. One of the bigger questions facing Senzel and the Reds this season is whether he will actually get to play third base. Cincinnati is happy with Eugenio Suarez there and plans to have Senzel show off some versatility in Spring Training. At his first big league camp, Senzel will get opportunities to play shortstop and second base -- positions he previously played as an amateur -- and will get his first exposure to the outfield.
