A NEW SKIPPER: Former Major League All-Star Joey Cora took over as the ninth manager in franchise history. He was officially announced as the new skipper of the Curve on December 15, 2015. The native of Caguas, Puerto Rico spent 11 seasons in the majors with , White Sox, and . He was an A.L. All-Star in 1997 with Seattle. Following his playing career, Cora spent eight seasons on the staff of manager Ozzie Guillen with the White Sox from 2004-2011 and one season as the bench coach with the in 2012. Prior to joining the Curve, Cora last managed in the minors in 2003 with Savannah of the , then a affiliate. He also guided the Appalachian League’s Kingsport Mets in 2001 and 2002. Cora replaced Tom Prince, who guided the Curve for one season and is now the Pirates’ Minor League Field Coordinator.

OPENING DAY ROSTER: The 2016 Opening Day Curve roster featured 12 players that have worn a Curve uniform prior to 2016, with 13 will be playing at the Double-A level for the first time in their career. There were 12 pitchers and 13 position players on the Curve roster, including one member of the Pirates’ 40-man roster (Harold Ramirez).

SPRING TRAINING: Prior to heading north to Altoona, 13 members of the Curve Opening Day roster played in Major League games for Pirates this year. Eleven positions players, including Jon Schwind, Jose Osuna, Harold Ramirez, Reese McGuire, Barrett Barnes, Chris Diaz, Erich Weiss, Stetson Allie, Edwin Espinal and Anderson Feliz all got plate appearances in big league games. Relievers Montana DuRapau and Dovydas Neverauskas were the only two pitchers on the Opening Day Curve roster that saw action in MLB Spring Training Games.

OPENING DAY NOTES: With a 10-6 loss on April 7 to Harrisburg, the Curve are 7-11 all time in season openers. When opening the season in Altoona, the Curve are 6-3, but have gone just 1-8 in openers on the road. The Curve are 5-11 on Opening Day against teams from their own division, and 4-5 against affiliates. An Altoona has not earned an Opening Day win since 2010 when Mike Crotta earned a victory against the Sena- tors.

BASE ON BALLS AND BIG FLIES: Through the first four games, the Curve pitching staff combined to allow 31 walks, the most in the Eastern League and an average of 7.75 per game. After not allowing a single homer in the first three games, Akron crushed five home runs on April 11 in a 9-1 loss, tying a franchise record for the most in a single game against the Curve in franchise history.

TRIP-TRIP-TRIPLE: The Curve came through with a three-run, bases-clearing triple in three straight games from April 16-18. On April 16, Stetson Allie brought in three runs with a triple in the top of the ninth at Richmond against Ray Black to give the Curve a 3-0 win. On April 17, Erich Weiss drove a three- run, go-ahead triple down the right field line to give Altoona a 5-3 win at Richmond. On April 18 at Harrisburg, Harold Ramirez tied the game at 4-4 with a three-run triple during the Curve’s eight-run second inning.

SETTLING IN: The first five games of the season, the Curve starting rotation combined to go 1-3 with a 6.94 ERA. Over the next nine games, the pitching staff recovered to post a 2.41 ERA (26 ER/97 IP). The starting pitchers had a 2.73 ERA (18 ER/59.1 IP) in that span, and the has posted a 1.72 ERA (7 ER/36.2).

NOT JOSHIN' YA: Reliever Josh Smith had not allowed a run over 20.2 consecutive innings, dating back to July 20, 2015, until he surrendered an unearned run on April 14 at Richmond. He had a streak of 22.2 straight innings without allowing an earned run until Richmond's Matt Winn hit a solo homer against him on April 22.

WORKING FOR THE WEEKEND: The Curve went 5-0 in their first five weekend games through April 24, with wins in all three Sunday games and a 2-0 mark on Saturdays.

SO LONG, APRIL: The Curve went 9-13 in April and finished the month in fourth place in the division, five game behind first-place Akron. It was the worst record in a single month for Altoona in 2016. The team was seventh in the league in hitting (.240), home runs (12), walks (82) and strikeouts (162). MAY

EXTRA! EXTRA!: The Curve played back-to-back extra-inning games on May 1 and May 2 after not needing extra frames through any of the first 22 games of the season. Akron defeated Altoona with a walk-off single by Jordan Smith in the 12th inning on May 1. The Curve rallied for three runs in the top of the tenth to beat the SeaWolves on May 2 at Jerry Uht Park.

RALLYING IN RICHMOND: The Curve rallied to plate the go-ahead run in the ninth inning four times in a stretch of five games played at The Diamond in Richmond. On April 16, Stetson Allie hit a bases-clearing triple to break a scoreless tie in the ninth and give the Curve a 3-0 win. The next day,Erich Weiss clubbed a three-run triple to put the Curve in front in the ninth in a 5-3 win. On May 13, The Curve scored four runs in the ninth, capped by a two-run, go- ahead single by Allie, to beat Richmond 5-2. The next night on May 14, the Curve scored six runs with two outs in the ninth, with Jin-De Jhang supplying a go-ahead, two-run double.

THE OLD COLLEGE DAYS: On May 15 at The Diamond in Richmond, Curve lefty Brandon Waddell opposed Flying Squirrels righty Tyler Beede. It was their first meeting since the two pitchers went head-to-head during the College World Series finals in Omaha for Game 2 on June 24, 2014. Beede's Vanderbilt Commodores bested Waddell's Virginia Cavaliers that day, 7-2, and went on to win the national championship. Beede was selected in the first round of the MLB Draft that year, but Waddell returned to the CWS finals and against faced Vanderbilt in 2015, picking up a win in the clinching series clinching game. In their first Eastern League meeting, Altoona topped Richmond, 6-2, with Waddell allowing two runs in 5.1 innings to improve to 3-0, while Beede allowed three runs in six innings and dropped to 2-2 on the year.

WADDELL'S WINNING WAYS: Lefty Brandon Waddell won each of his last four starts with A-Adv. Bradenton before earning a promotion to Double-A on May 3. He continued his streak with the Curve, picking up a win in each of his first three starts, marking a stretch of seven straight starts won overall.

IT’S HOW YOU START: From May 9-15, the Curve cashed in with a first-inning run in six of seven games, including all three games in a home series against Trenton and three of four games against Richmond. In five of six games from May 10-15, Altoona's reached base safely and came in to score the game's first run.

MARK IT EIGHT, DUDE: The Curve went on an eight-game from May 10-18, which tied for the third-longest in franchise history. During that span, Altoona outscored Trenton, Richmond and Binghamton, 42-19. The Curve also won eight straight games during their 2010 E.L Championship season (5/20-5/26 vs. Akron, at Erie, at Akron). The most recent eight-game winning streak came in 2013 (6/13-6/20 at New Britain, vs. Trenton, vs. New Hamp- shire).

#WINNING: From May 7-23, the Curve won 13 of 15 games. Prior to that stretch, they were 11-16 and fourth in the E.L. West. The run began with a three-game sweep of Richmond, but was interrupted with a loss to Trenton on May 9. The Curve responded with an eight-game winning streak, including a four-game road sweep of Richmond. Altoona moved from fourth to second in the division, but only gained one game on first-place Akron, still sitting 6.5 games back.

YOUTH MOVEMENT: Through the end of May, the Altoona season roster had an average age of 23.6, the youngest of any team in the Eastern League. Hart- ford (24.0), Trenton (24.3) and Akron (24.5) were the next closest. Erie (26.1) had fielded the oldest roster. The three youngest players on the Curve roster were all 21 and are also the three highest-ranked prospects: Austin Meadows, Reese McGuireand Harold Ramirez. No players on the roster at that time had played above Double-A at any point in their professional careers.

IF WE MAY: The Curve went 19-9 in May, their best month of the season. The team hit .274 in the month, led by a .366 average by Harold Ramirez. Through May, the Curve held a 28-22 record and sat in second place in the E.L. West, 7.5 games behind first-place Akron. Lefty Cody Dickson went 3-0 in the month with a 3.25 ERA in five starts and one relief outing. Closer Montana DuRapau one run over 11 appearances, a 0.79 ERA, and successfully con- verted all six save chances. Reliever Dovydas Neverauskas pitched 10 scoreless outings in the month, working 13.2 innings with 15 strikeouts.

WHAT A RELIEF: Lefty Jared Lakind made his mark in the Curve record books, pitching 25.1 consecutive scoreless innings from May 1-June 23, the longest streak in a single Curve season. The streak surpassed the previous record 23.2-inning span set by Derek Hankins in 2010. Reliever Dovydas Neverauskas went on a scoreless streak of his own from April 25-June 2 that spanned 18.1 scoreless innings, including 12 straight appearances without allowing a run.

#WINNING CONTINUED: From May 7-June 3, the Curve won 20 of 26 games, going from 11-16 to 31-22. They won seven of eight series during that span, with the lone exception being a four-game series split with Akron at PNG Field.

DICKSON DOMINATES: After going 0-2 with a 6.45 ERA (16 ER/22.1 IP) in his first five Double-A starts from April 11-May Cody2, Dickson went 5-0 with a 1.16 ERA (5 ER/38.2 IP) over his next seven starts from May 7-June 12. He did not allow more than one earned run in any of the seven starts.

MEADOWS MAKES HIS MARK: OutfielderAustin Meadows compiled a 24-game hitting streak from May 23 through his promotion to Triple-A on June 18, raising his season average from .192 through his first 21 games to .311. It was the longest hitting streak in the Eastern League in 2016 and the longest active streak in baseball, MLB and MiLB, at the time of his promotion. It was the longest streak in Altoona franchise history, surpassing the previous mark of 21 games set by Kevin Sefcik in 2002. Over the 24 games, Meadows hit .404 (38-for-94) with six homers, six triples, 17 RBIs, six stolen bases, seven walks, 24 runs scored and only 11 strikeouts. He had 12 multi-hit games during the streak. He was named the Eastern League Player of the Week for May 30-June 5 after batting .444 in seven games with five triples, two homers, nine runs scored, six RBIs and two stolen bases with four multi-hit games.

MEET IN THE MIDDLE: At the conclusion of the game on June 23, the Curve officially hit the halfway mark of their 2016 season. Altoona sat a then-season- best nine games over .500 and riding a five-game winning streak, just one game behind first-place Akron.

SIX PACK: The Curve went on a six-game winning streak from June 18-24, their second-longest of the season. That streak included the final two games of a homestand against Hartford, a three-game road sweep in Binghamton, and the opener of a series at Bowie. During the streak, the Curve offense hit .340 (72-for-212), scored 36 runs (6.0/game) and hit .385 (25/65) with runners in . The pitching staff posted a 2.57 ERA (16 ER/56 IP). Altoona starting pitchers went 5-0 with a 2.50 ERA (10 ER/36.0 IP) during the streak, while the bullpen went 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA (6 ER/20.0 IP).

DUCK HUNT: The Curve passed Akron on June 26 to take over first place in the E.L. West for the first time in 2016. The Curve (24-20) were 8.5 games behind Akron (33-12) on May 25 and went 18-12 over the next 30 games to move into first, while Akron compiled a 10-22 record.

EDWINNING: Edwin Espinal hit .364 (36/99) from May 26-June 30 with six doubles and four homers while striking out just nine times. His .314 season average at the time not qualify for the league leaderboard, which requires 2.7 PA per team game played (Minimum through June 30 was 211 in 78 games. Espinal had 204). After leading first basemen with a .995 fielding percentage in 2015, Espinal had a .997 mark at first in 2016 through the end of June.

OPPORTUNE IN JUNE: The Curve went 16-12 in June, finishing the month with a 44-34 overall record and a 1.5-game lead over Akron for first place in the E.L. West. Right-hander Tyler Eppler went 3-2 in six June starts with a 2.65 ERA and just six walks in 37.1 innings. The Curve hit .281 as a team in June. Edwin Espinal hit .361 over 23 games with three homers and 14 RBIs. Austin Meadows batted .361 with eight doubles, five triples and five homers in June before his promotion to Triple-A. Jose Osuna batted .300 with one homer and eight doubles while leading the team with 17 RBIs and nine walks.Jin-De Jhang hit .306 over 12 games in the month. JULY

HELLO, NEWMAN: Shortstop Kevin Newman joined the Curve on June 18 with Austin Meadows' promotion to Triple-A, and he lived up to the offensive hype that had him drafted in the first round by the Pirates in 2015 out of the . Newman hit had at least one hit in 18 of his first 19 Double-A games, posting a .354 average through July 9. He went on a 17-game hitting streak from June 21-July 9, the seventh-longest in Altoona franchise history. Newman also scored at least one run in 11 of his first 14 games, 15 total runs, and scored at least one run in seven straight games from June 27-July 4.

SHINING STARS: Four Curve players were selected to play for the Western Division in the Eastern League All-Star Game on July 13 at Akron's Canal Park. Right-handed pitcher Tyler Eppler, leftyJared Lakind and first baseman Edwin Espinal each earned the first All-Star selections of their careers. Outfielder Harold Ramirez picked up his second All-Star nod and first since 2013 in the New York-Penn League.

HOLMES HITS STRIDE: Right-hander Clay Holmes went 5-4 with a 5.66 ERA through his first 12 starts at Double-A, but hit a hot stretch in the middle of the season. In six starts from June 16-July 15, Holmes went 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA (7 ER/35.0 IP), lowering his season ERA to 4.27.

FAMILIAR FACES: The Curve saw two rehab assignments in July by players that came through Altoona earlier in their careers. Right-handed pitcher Ryan Vogelsong pitched for the Curve in 2002, going 1-5 with a 5.56 ERA in eight starts. He was placed on the disabled list by the Pirates on May 24 after being hit in the face with a while batting, suffering facial fractures. He made his first rehab start for the Curve on July 10 at Erie, allowing three runs, all in the second inning, over five total innings in a no-decision. He made a second start on July 15 at PNG Field against Harrisburg, picking up a win while working six scoreless, two-hit innings. 2014 Curve MVP Elias Diaz was placed on the disabled list by the Pirates before the start of the season with right elbow debride- ment. The catcher joined the Curve on a rehab assignment on July 16, hitting 2-for-7 over two games with a walk and an RBI.

SEVEN-GAME : The Curve were outscored 33-12 over a seven-game from July 15 (G2) through July 21, their longest of the season, and did not score more than two runs in a game during that stretch. The losing streak was preceded by a six-game winning streak.

A HAROLD-ED PROSPECT: Outfielder Harold Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a triple on July 23, raising his season batting average to .318, third-best in the Eastern League at the time and the highest it would reach during the 2016 season. The game capped a 15-game hitting streak dating back to July 6, the longest active streak by an active E.L. player at the time and the third-longest streak for a Curve player in 2016. During the streak, Ramirez hit .439 (25/57) with 12 RBIs.

GRIN AND BARRETT: OutfielderBarrett Barnes hit just .249 in his first 70 games through July 4, but went on an 11-game hitting streak from July 5-19 in which he hit .475 (19-for-40) and raised his average to .283. He hit .404 overall in the month of July.

DICKSON DOMINATION CONTINUES: After going 0-2 with a 6.45 ERA (16 ER/22.1 IP) in his first five Double-A starts from April 11-May 2, Dickson went 8-1 with a 2.40 ERA (21 ER/78.2 IP) over his next 14 starts from May 7-July 22.

HEAT WAVE: Over a six-game winning streak from July 22-27, the Curve hit .429 (78/182) as a team and scored 44 runs (7.3/game). At the time, the Curve were batting .273 on the season, the highest in the Eastern League, including a .292 (242/829) mark in from July 1-July 27.

TRIPPED IN TRENTON: Entering the series with a six-game winning streak, the Curve were swept in a four-game road series in Trenton from July 28-31, scoring just one run in each of the four games. In the series at ARM & HAMMER Park against the top pitching staff in the league, the Altoona offense hit just .163 (19/116) and .083 (3/36, 2 RBI) with runners in scoring position.

GETTING BY IN JULY: The Curve went 14-15 in July, finishing the month tied with a 58-49 overall record and tied for first place in the Western Division with Harrisburg. Barrett Barnes led the team with a .404 batting average in the month. Kevin Newman hit .333. Harold Ramirez batted .324 with three homers in the month. Eric Wood led the team with five homers and 18 RBIs in the month while batting .295. Cody Dickson went 2-0 with a 3.08 ERA over five starts. Miguel Rosario posted a 0.96 ERA in eight outings and Edgar Santana had a 1.23 ERA in eight appearances.

DEADLINE DEAL: On August 1, just moments before the trade deadline, Curve catcher Reese McGuire and outfielder Harold Ramirez were traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates along with big league left-handed pitcher to the for Triple-A pitcher . Both McGuire and Ramirez were ranked as top 10 prospects in the Pirates system. Both players were assigned to Toronto's Eastern League club in New Hampshire, and both of them had a big impact in their first game with the Fisher Cats on August 3 against Akron. McGuire went 1-for-4 with a three-run double in the first inning and later came in to score. Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

JECKYLL AND HYDE: The Curve were a team of streaks from July 4-August 3. It started with a three-game losing streak from July 4-6 at Akron. They answered with a six-game winning streak from July 7-July 15 (G1), outscoring opponents, 39-11. The Curve followed that with a season-worst seven-game losing streak from July 15 (G2) through July 21, during which they were outscored 33-12 and did not score more than two runs in a single game. They re- sponded with another six-game winning streak from July 22 through July 27. That streak was followed by a four-game losing slide, all in Trenton, which was snapped with a three-game series sweep against Richmond.

RUNNING 'ROUND RICHMOND: Through August 4, the Curve went 15-3 this against the Flying Squirrels, and have won 13 straight games against them dating back to April 22. The Curve split a four-game at Richmond from April 14-17 before losing the first of a four-game set on April 21. The Curve finished that home series with three straight wins from April 22-24 to start the streak, outscoring Richmond 16-5. The Curve swept a three-game set at PNG Field from May 7-8 and followed with a four-game sweep at The Diamond from May 12-15. The two teams did not meet again until a three-game set in Altoona from August 2-4, which the Curve swept.

WALK-OFF EDWIN: First baseman Edwin Espinal hit the only walk-off home run of the season for the Curve on August 3, a solo shot to lift the Curve to a 2-1 win in the bottom of the 12th inning. The following night the Curve trailed 1-0 heading into the eighth beforeErich Weiss tied the game with an RBI double. With the game still tied 1-1 in the bottom of the tenth, Espinal hit a sac fly to scoreElvis Escobar and lift the Curve to a 2-1 victory, capping a three- game sweep and giving the Curve their thirteenth consecutive win over the Flying Squirrels.

BRINGIN' THE LUMBER: Curve third baseman Eric Wood entered 2016 having hit 15 career home runs in four minor league seasons. Through 91 games in 2016, Wood hit 15 home runs, with his 15th coming on August 5 at Reading. At the time, Wood led the team in homers and ranked with the fourth-best Home Run/ Ratio in the league (1/20.60). That same week, Wood was named the "Best Defensive Third Baseman" in the Eastern League on Baseball America's Best Tools list.

CLOCK WATCHING: On August 5, Eric Wood was called out on strikes after home plate umpire Takahito Matsuda rang him up for taking too much time to address the pitcher between pitches, resulting in the third out of the inning and stranding runners at first and third. The umpire made the call with approxi- mately four seconds showing on the . It marked the first time since the pitch clocks were added to play during the 2015 that a Curve player was called out on an automatic strike. Altoona manager Joey Cora and hitting coach Kevin Riggs each came out to argue the call, resulting in Riggs being ejected by Matsuda. Wood hit a home run the next time he came to the plate in the fourth inning.

A LITTLE EXTRA DEJA VU: The Curve went into extra innings in three out of four games from August 3-6, and they have won all three of those games by a 2-1 score. On August 3, Edwin Espinal hit a walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the 12th inning, and he lifted the Curve to a walk-off win in 10 innings with a the next night. On August 6 at Reading, the Curve rallied in the ninth to tie the game at 1-1 and won in the tenth with a go-ahead RBI ground- out by Anderson Feliz, scoring Jonathan Schwind from third.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: Through August 9, the Curve were 35-21 at PNG Field on the season, the best home record in the E.L. Western Division at the time. Altoona won 10 consecutive home games from July 22-August 9, setting a new franchise record. The streak included a three straight wins against- Ak ron from July 22-24, a three-game sweep of Erie from July 25-27, a three-game sweep of Richmond from August 2-4 and a win over Harrisburg on August 9. The streak surpassed the club's nine-game home winning streak record set from July 2-July 23, 2001 under manager Dale Sveum.

STEWART RETURNS: Catcher Chris Stewart began a Major League rehab appearance tonight with the Curve on August 12 and remained with the team for the rest of their regular season. He was placed on the 15-day DL by the Pirates on July 2 with left knee discomfort. Stewart also did rehab work with the Curve last season on April 9-10, 2015, and was the Opening Day catcher for the Curve last year.

SCHWIND'S SLAM: On August 17 at Portland, Jonathan Schwind hit the only of the season for the Curve. With the Curve trailing 4-3 in the sixth inning of the seven-inning game, Schwind drove a pitcher over the right field fence to plate four runs and lift the Curve to a 7-4 win over the Sea Dogs. The four RBIs tied the most that Schwind compiled in a single game in his career, matching a mark he set with the on April 6, 2014.

NOT SO DREARY AGAINST ERIE: The Curve are 28-12 against the SeaWolves since the start of the 2015 season, including starting the season 8-0 against Erie last year. The Curve won eight straight games against the SeaWolves prior to Altoona's 7-6 loss on August 26, including a three-game sweep in Erie from July 8-10 and a three-game sweep at PNG Field from July 25-27. The Curve hit .297 against the SeaWolves in 2016 with a 13-7 record. In 17 games, Edwin Espinal hit .365 (27-for-74) against Erie with four doubles, his only triple and 11 RBIs. Stetson Allie brought in 11 RBIs and had six extra-base hits in 15 games against the SeaWolves with a .288 (15-for-52) average. Jonathan Schwind hit .346 (9-for-26) in nine games against Erie in 2016, and Jin-De Jhang batted .360 (9-for-25) with his only homer of the season against the Tigers' Double-A squad.

MO' IN A PINCH: After not hitting a single home run over his first five full professional seasons,Tomas Morales clubbed a pinch-hit, solo homer on August 21 at New Hampshire for his first career homer. It was also the first pinch hit home run by any Curve player in 2016. He followed with another pinch-hit, solo homer the next night at Harrisburg, the second part of back-to-back homers with Stetson Allie.

BARNES' BIG MONTH: Outfielder Barrett Barnes was named Eastern League Player of the Month for August. He hit .360 (31-for-86) in 26 August games with eight homers, six doubles and 22 RBIs. He also scored 16 runs and compiled a .709 slugging percentage with a .434 on-base percentage. Barnes was named E.L. Player of the Week twice in August, including the week of August 8-14 after hitting .529 with three homers in five games and the week of August 22-28, when he again clubbed three homers over six games and posted a .409 batting average with seven RBIs. He went on a career-best 13-game hitting streak from August 14-29, a span in which he posted a .408 batting average (20-for-49) with six homers and 15 RBIs. Eight of his nine home runs on the season came in the month of August.

DOWN THE STRETCH IN AUGUST: The Curve went 16-12 in August, and finished the month with a 74-61 overall record and a two-game lead over Akron for first place in the Western Division. Barrett Barnes led the team with a .360 average in 26 games, eight homers and 22 RBIs. Erich Weiss hit .287 with two homers and 19 RBIs in the month over 26 games. In 12 games, Tomas Morales hit .348 with two homers and a triple. Jin-De Jhang batted .313 in 19 games with a .370 on-base percentage. SEPTEMBER

HEY, McRAE!: Through his first six Double-A start from June 10-July 6, Alex McRae went 2-4 with a 10.25 ERA. He bounced back down the stretch, going 6-2 with a 2.47 ERA in his last nine starts and one relief outing from July 14-September 1, including a stretch in his last eight games where he went 5-1 with a 2.23 ERA.

D-D-DEFENSE: After holding the worst fielding percentage in the Eastern League last season, the Curve tied for the top fielding percentage in the circuit in 2016 at .980. That percentage surpassed the best fielding percentage in team history, which was set at .977 in 2010 and 2013. The Curve committed 105 defensive errors in 2016, breaking the franchise-best mark of 125 set in 2010.

HOW THE WEST WAS WON: The Curve finished the season 12 games over .500 and a half-game behind Akron in the Western Division, clinching a wild card berth with a 2-0, ten-inning win over Richmond on September 5. Altoona took over first place in the Western Division for the first time on June 26, and held that spot for 55 of 63 games until Akron took it on the next-to-last day of the season. The RubberDucks dominated the first half of the season, but fell to 56-59 through August 7. They went 21-5 over their last 26 games to storm back into the playoff mix and take the Western Division's regular-season crown. The 'Ducks were seven games out of first place on August 12, but went 18-4 the rest of the way to take over first place from Altoona on September 4, including an 11-game winning streak from Aug. 12-24. The 'Ducks also won the final four games of their regular season.

ALTOONA VS. AKRON PLAYOFF HISTORY: 2016 marked the seventh postseason appearance in Altoona franchise history and the fifth as a wild card qualifier. The Curve have faced Akron in the Division Series three previous times, with the then-Aeros taking all three sets. In Altoona's first playoff series in 2003, Akron won the series, 3-1. The two teams met again in 2005, and Akron eliminated Altoona in five games. They met again in 2006, with the series again going five games before a 5-2 win by the Aeros in the final game. The Curve lost to the 'Ducks in the Division Series, 3 games to 1, and Akron went on to defeat Trenton to win the Eastern League Championship.
