One of the most famous Battles in the History of the Capital happened here, hence it being named after the God of Mars, often represented in his Chariot drawn by two Fiery Horses. This famous Esplanade, « Equestrian » by Nature, has not heard the echo of the Thundering Horses Hoof since 1993 and the last Gallop by Jappeloup ... In 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018, the Longines Global Champions Tour - Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping, has brought the Horse back onto its Familiar Territory again. This Event also finds its Origins from a Desire to revive a Special Relationship. The Appearance of the Horse in the Daily Life of Man dates back beyond recorded History. The Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) is an Annual Show Jumping Series that comprises up to 15 Rounds of Competition hosted around the World. It brings together the top 30 Riders in the FEI Jumping World Rankings. It was founded in 2006 by the Olympic Gold Medalist Jan Tops. Since 2007, all LGCT Events have been held as CSI 5*, which means that under FEI Rules they are Championship-Level Events. The LGCT Classes are run under FEI Rules but the Governing Body has no part in the Organisation of the Series, aside from ratifying the Schedule. The LGCT is not an FEI Series like the World Cup or the Nations Cup Competitions. The Longines Global Champions Tour kicks off its 14th Season in the spectacular Destination of Doha, with the Introduction of St Tropez and the Addition of the magical City of Prague to the Star-Studded 2019 Calendar. The Championship spans three Continents and takes in the World's Great Cities including Paris, Monaco, Madrid, Miami Beach, Shanghai, Rome and Doha, Qatar. A near‐fatal riding injury saw Nick forced to retire in 2001, but he astounded everyone by making an amazing recovery and return to the sport in which he has topped almost ever since. Nick holds the British record for showjumping the highest fence when he cleared over 7’7” on Lastic in 1979, he has competed in six Olympic Games, won five World Championship medals and nine European Championship medals with the most recent being in Madrid 2011 where he brought home both a Team and Individual bronze.     Press Release Saturday 26 th November 2011 The Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 2011 Glorious Grand Prix win for Frenchman Roger-Yves Bost and Emphatic GCT title win for Australian Edwina Tops-Alexander The Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi held at the Al Forsan International Sports Resort saw two battles unfold for supremacy. The Grand Prix alone had a purse of 400,000 euros that the top world riders were aiming for. The class also provided the showdown for the 2011 series title. The 2011 title challenge had come down to just two riders Australian Edwina Tops-Alexander and German Ludger Beerbaum. And it was an unpredictable finale with Ludger and Chaman coming unstuck in the treble combination in the first round, retiring soon after. Edwina and Cevo Itot du Chateau, out two horses later felled two fences down and although she did not go through to the second round of the Grand Prix she had won the 2011 GCT title. A just reward for a year of spectacular show jumping feits, she took home the 300,000 euro cheque as their part of the 1 million euros divided amongst the top 18 ranked riders. Edwina was ecstatic with the win. “I am so happy for the great horse Itot is. He has had a very good year.” Commented Edwina directly after her ride. It was the way it played out today and as you can see anything can happen in show jumping. For sure I would have liked to have had a better place in the Grand Prix.

After 25 years, these equestrian championships will be hosted on U.S. soil for the first time at Ithe beautiful Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. With the eyes of the world soon to be upon them, the USET Foundation has worked closely with the United States Equestrian Federation to make sure that the horses and riders representing our nation have the support they need to shine in the limelight. A group of horses and riders are being selected to represent the U.S. Equestrian Team in each of the eight disciplines, Show Jumping, Reining, Dressage, Endurance, Eventing, Driving, Vaulting and Para-Dressage, to showcase the incredible equestrian talent that this country has to offer.
