Alwinton Show is a fun day out for all the family. Alwinton Show is the ‘last’ show of the season in , and one of the largest in the valley. With splendid views of the Coquet Valley and river, Alwinton Show consists of various organised activities for visitors to either participate in or just watch. To name a few of the activities held on the day: Adults Fell Race, Children’s Fell Race - Under 16 and Under 13 Events, Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling, Stick Dressing Terrier Racing, Open Dog Show, Collie & Terrier Dog Show Traditional Collie Dog Trials, Hound Dog Trail Sheep Show, Trade Stands, Beer Tent, Food and Refreshment Stands Craft Tent - Alwinton Show has the largest Craft Tent within the Coquet Valley of local shows, displaying quality products, from local hand made crafts, pillows, jam and much, much more. Exhibit Tents - Come and see local exhibitors showing vegetables, cakes, eggs, quilts, knitting, photos, and the list goes on . . . Enter your own exhibits. Please note that Mobile Reception is not good on Show Field so stall holders may be unable to take card payments. Please bring cash.

Directions: NE65 7BQ Alwinton Show is situated just before the small, friendly village of Alwinton. From Morpeth, Northumberland, leave the A1 at the A697, sign posted for Coldstream and Wooler, turn left for . Continue through Rothbury and through the village of . After approximately 3 miles after Thropton, turn right up a large bank, following signs for Alwinton. Continue along this road for approximately 7 miles. You will see the show field on the left hand side before reaching Alwinton.

Entries for Exhibits and Sheep close Saturday 21st September 2019 SHEEP RULES The Society respectfully request that all stock etc., exhibited will be shown in accordance with the following rules: 1. It is now legal that all stock (half-bred mules and Leicester classes excepted) intended for show purposes may be grazed on old land pastures, likewise no restriction as to period of time nor where competitors may elect to graze their stock, 2. Ewes to have bred and reared lambs this season up till 1st July, 3. All Hirsel stock, viz, Cheviot Ewes, Gimmers and Ewe Lambs; also Blackfaced Old Ewes, Gimmers and Ewe Lambs must be shown subject to Rule 1, 4. Any competitor who shows stock must do so under his own name and address, 5. Competitions open to Scotland for all classes of stock, unless where specials are scheduled to the contrary, 6. All entries for this show must be accompanied by the necessary paperwork, 7. All sheep (both farmer’s and shepherds) to be shown single, 8. Should any Exhibitor show sheep contrary to the above rules he shall forfeit the prize money. 9. No person allowed in sheep pens except the judges and attendants, 10. The committee cannot hold themselves responsible for the loss or damage of any kind; all officials will exercise every reasonable care and attention, 11. Judges decision to be final and irrevocable, 12. The committee and secretary reserve themselves the right to modify or withhold the awards, where they deem it necessary through limited competition etc. 13. RULES FOR THE HORTICULTURE AND INDUSTRIAL 1. That all stands to be set up no later than 10.30am on day of show, the judging to commence at 11am prompt. During Judging no one to be admitted except Judges and Committee members into Marquees. 2. That all produce shown must have been grown by exhibitor, any exhibit not made by the exhibitor will be disqualified. 3. No remarks/scores shall be attached to exhibits. 4. A number will be assigned to each exhibitor and must be placed on exhibits this number will match the catalogue entry, so can be identified for prize giving. 5. Exhibits will receive all reasonable care and attention, but the secretary and committee cannot hold themselves liable for loss or damage. 6. Professionals and Teachers of Fancy work etc. debarred from competing. 7. All articles not to have been shown at a previous Alwinton Show, except Walking Stick Classes. 8.
