If a torrent tracker appears to be offline, this might be a temporarily issue and the tracker should be online again in a few hours. Problem: Slow torrent download speeds. If you can't download torrents at high speed or cannot see any seeds than probably some of the torrent trackers listed in your .torrent file are down. Adding trackers to your torrent downloads won't speed up your torrents notable but generates even more load on these trackers. Bandwidth throttling is another issue resulting in frustratingly slow speeds when downloading torrents. Many ISPs around the world are making a deliberate effort to keep BitTorrent traffic as slow as possible. They do so to avoid high bandwidth usage on their networks. To encrypt your data, block throttling and speed up your torrents you can use a VPN. A Torrent VPN routes all BitTorrent traffic through a third-party server to unblock P2P throttling. Run your own torrent tracker. With support of Open Torrent Tracker Project by erdgeist you can setup your own open torrent tracker. Other private tracker projects include Ocelot (for Gazelle project) and Gazelle Tracker. Private BitTorrent Trackers Face Credit Crunch. The credit crunch has impacted the global financial market and many businesses are struggling to survive the economic downturn. Now, a rare academic publication on private BitTorrent trackers suggests that the same is happening in private BitTorrent communities. Statistically, it is simply impossible for all members of a private BitTorrent tracker to maintain an upload/download ratio close to 1. However, even the less strict ratios of 0.4 or less are hard to maintain for newcomers with limited upload speeds, a notion that has now been confirmed scientifically. Researchers from the Tribler P2P team at the Technical University of Delft, Netherlands, took an in depth look at the ‘ratio economy’ at various private BitTorrent trackers. Interestingly, they found some striking similarities between this virtual economy and some of the recent events in the global financial system. In the paper, the researchers looked into the BitTorrent share ratios of members of a private TV-torrent tracker. They found that the current ratio system is heavily skewed towards a small group of people with a lot of upload capacity, often armed with seedboxes. These greedy ‘rich peers’ take away a disproportional of the available upload ‘credit’ so that new peers, or poorer ones have trouble keeping their ratio above the required figure. In addition, several variations of swarm populations were simulated to see what their effect is on the users’ share ratios. Overall, the researchers found evidence of a credit crunch in the current ratio tracking schemes currently employed by most private BitTorrent trackers. Even when everyone has similar bandwidth limits this credit shortage still occurs. “We discovered a strange phenomenon in existing private BitTorrent communities,” Dr. Johan Pouwelse told TorrentFreak. “Lack of credit is hampering performance. We have been able to reproduce this effect in a simulator to further understand it. It has many similarities with the credit crunch where the greasing oil of the world economy is drying out.” “Lack of credit makes for bankrupt states and poorly functioning BitTorrent communities,” Pouwelse added. While it is unlikely that the trackers will collapse from it, the paper indeed shows that the current emphasis on share ratios is not fair to all members of the community. Previously, Bram Cohen, the inventor of the BitTorrent protocol has spoken out against share ratios. “A better approach would be to not count it against people when they download from heavily overseeded torrents. Or to just not use total upload/download ratios at all, or if you do only make them advisory and not a source of banning,” he said at the time. There are indeed hundreds of alternatives to the current ratio calculation, and most of them will indeed guarantee a healthier sharing environment (less favorable towards ‘rich peers’). In the paper, the researchers show that a ‘seeding bonus’ where peers get more credits for their uploads may help and others have suggested to use the total seeding time instead of the upload/download ratio. While the paper presents some interesting findings, it doesn’t say much about download speeds on private trackers, which tend to be much higher than on public trackers. The parallels with our collapsing financial system are interesting, and with the only difference that a ‘bailout’ or ‘bonus’ would actually help the poor peers on private BitTorrent trackers, we can’t be too sure if that’s also going to work in the real world. GPS and GSM Tracking (GG-Tracker) GG-Tracker tracks the location of your mobile device. It displays your position on the internet using Google Maps / Earth and uses live updates via ajax technology. GG-Tracker can run standalone or integrated on an existing webpage. The application is built using the template framework Bootstrap which makes it fully responsive (fits on any screen). Also the supporting files for Google Maps, Streetview and Earth are 100% responsive. GG-Tracker can potentially hook up to many different apps (iOS and Android) as long as they follow the OpenGTS or Garmin $GPRMC standards. The application itself runs on a standard Apache and MySQL setup. Torrent Tracker List Updated Aug 2021. .torrent is an extension used for BitTorrent file format. What is Torrent Trackers? Torrent trackers is a software tool that tracks the information of peers and seeds for a torrent file. In simple words records the statistics of the torrent file across the distributed network. The main purpose of its usage is it helps the torrent clients like BitTorrent, Utorrent, qTorrent, etc to communicate with each other such that it can find more peers and seeds enabling the user to download the relevant torrent file(let it be movies, songs, videos, images, documents or anything) quickly.

Multi-core architecture for anonymous Internet streaming Quinten Stokkink Multi-core architecture for anonymous Internet streaming Master’s Thesis in Computer Science Parallel and Distributed Systems group Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science Delft University of Technology Quinten Stokkink 3rd March 2017 Author Quinten Stokkink Title Multi-core architecture for anonymous Internet streaming MSc presentation 15th March 2017 Graduation Committee Graduation professor: Prof. dr. ir. D. H. J. Epema Delft University of Technology Supervisor: Dr. ir. J. A. Pouwelse Delft University of Technology Committee member: Dr. Z. Erkin Delft University of Technology Abstract There are two key components for high throughput distributed anonymizing ap- plications. The first key component is overhead due to message complexity of the utilized algorithms. The second key component is an nonscalable architecture to deal with this high throughput. These issues are compounded by the need for an- onymization. Using a state of the art serialization technology has been shown to increase performance, in terms of CPU utilization, by 65%. This is due to the com- pression (byte stuffing) used by this technology. It also decreased lines of code in the Tribler project by roughly 2000 lines. Single-core architectures are shown to be optimizable by performing a minimum s,t-cut on the data flows within the original architecture: between the entry point and the most costly CPU-utilizing compon- ent as derived from profiling the application. This method is used on the Tribler technology to create a multi-core architecture. The resulting architecture is shown to be significantly more efficient in terms of consumed CPU for the delivered file download speed.

J.A. Pouwelse (supervisor) Delft University of Technology Prof. Dr. Ir. S. Hamdioui Delft University of Technology Dr. Ir. C. Hauff Delft University of Technology Abstract One of the cause of slow download speed in the BitTorrent community is the existence of freeriders. The credit system, as one of the most widely implemented incentive mechanisms, is designed to tackle this issue. However, in some cases, gaining credit efficiently is difficult. Moreover, the supply and demand misalign- ment in swarms can result in performance deficiency. As an answer to this issue, we introduce a credit mining system, an autonomous system to download pieces from selected swarms in order to gain a high upload ratio. Our main work is to develop a credit mining system. Specifically, we focused on an algorithm to invest the credit in swarms. This is composed of two stages: prospecting and mining. In prospecting, swarm information is extensively col- lected and then filtered. In mining, swarms are sorted by their potential and then selected. We also propose a scoring policy as a method to quantify swarms with a numerical score.

  • Master's Thesis
MASTER'S THESIS Analysis of UDP-based Reliable Transport using Network Emulation Andreas Vernersson 2015 Master of Science in Engineering Technology Computer Science and Engineering Luleå University of Technology Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering Abstract The TCP protocol is the foundation of the Internet of yesterday and today. In most cases it simply works and is both robust and versatile. However, in recent years there has been a renewed interest in building new reliable transport protocols based on UDP to handle certain problems and situations better, such as head-of-line blocking and IP address changes. The first part of the thesis starts with a study of a few existing reliable UDP-based transport protocols, SCTP which can also be used natively on IP, QUIC and uTP, to see what they can offer and how they work, in terms of features and underlying mechanisms. The second part consists of performance and congestion tests of QUIC and uTP imple- mentations. The emulation framework Mininet was used to perform these tests using controllable network properties. While easy to get started with, a number of issues were found in Mininet that had to be resolved to improve the accuracy of emulation. The tests of QUIC have shown performance improvements since a similar test in 2013 by Connectify, while new tests have identified specific areas that might require further analysis such as QUIC’s fairness to TCP and performance impact of delay jitter. The tests of two different uTP implementations have shown that they are very similar, but also a few differences such as slow-start growth and back-off handling.

Cases brought against the notorious torrent trackers arenabg.com and zamunda.net still have not been fully resolved, and in the meantime the number and reach of Bulgaria’s hosted pirate sites, infringing peer-to-peer (P2P) services and networks, and even services hosting open and notorious pirate sites and uploaders continues to expand. Bulgaria’s Cyber Crime Unit at the General Directorate was once an important ally for the initiation of investigations into Bulgaria’s copyright criminals, but the Unit has been inactive since it was transferred to a new independent agency and pending cases under its review were transferred to regional police forces. An important casualty of this reorganization was the work begun in late 2012 by the Cyber Crime Unit against uploaders at the popular video streaming service VBox7.com , which provides hosting services to hundreds of thousands of sound and video recordings without authorization. The case now appears stalled. The Cyber Crime Unit was also an important ally in cases against enterprise end-user software piracy, an effort that is now severely hindered for rights holders, mainly due to the structural changes that were ongoing in 2013.
