Figures for the month of May 2020 • Estimated May 2020 net profit and prize payout figures do not include accruals for prizes won that have not yet been paid. o Due to the overall decrease in sales, and in-person prize claims limited to prizes of $10,000 and above by appointment only (reducing the amount of prizes over $600 being claimed and cashed): . Estimated net profit for May 2020 was $112.9 million compared to $119.4 million in May 2019, resulting in an estimated $6.5 million decrease in net profit. Estimated prize payout for May 2020 was 68.99 percent, as compared to 70.53 percent in May 2019. Figures for Fiscal Year 2020 • Our estimated FY20 year-to-date net profit and prize payout figures both include accruals for prizes won that have not yet been paid. o Due to a combined $185.1 million decrease in overall sales in the months of April and May and a combined $137.7 million decrease in Mega Millions and Powerball sales in the first eleven months of FY20 compared to the first eleven months of FY19 (Mega Millions: $76.8 million decrease, Powerball: $60.9 million decrease) as a result of smaller jackpots: . Our estimated year-to-date net profit for the first eleven months of FY20 is $924.9 million compared to $1.045 billion for the first eleven months of FY19. After adding a 1-day average net profit figure of $2.8 million due to a shift in the calendar that resulted in 1 less day being included in the net profit figure for the first eleven months of FY20, the adjusted year-over-year change for the first eleven months of FY20 vs. the first eleven months of FY19 is an estimated $117.3 million decrease in net profit. Our estimated year-to-date prize payout for the first eleven months of FY20 is 73.44 percent, as compared to 72.17 percent for the first eleven months of FY19.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA CONTACT: Media Relations, 512-344-5131 [email protected] DELAYED PROCESSING – AUG. 23, 2021 POWERBALL DRAWING RESULTS Statement from the Multi-State Lottery Association: The official results of the Powerball® and Double Play® drawings on Monday, Aug. 23 have been delayed due to several lotteries needing extra time to complete the required security protocols. Powerball has strict security requirements that must be met by all 48 lotteries before and after each drawing to produce official draw results. Without the draw results, the next estimated jackpot cannot be calculated and, in some jurisdictions, prizes on winning tickets cannot be paid. The Powerball drawing on Monday night was held at 11:56 p.m. ET, and the Double Play drawing was held at 12:21 a.m. ET. Both drawings were live streamed on Powerball.com, and recorded video was posted to the Powerball website and the Powerball YouTube channel. The winning numbers from both drawings are also available on Powerball.com. While most jurisdictions were able to complete the required protocols on time, two lotteries need additional processing time. While we apologize for the delay in delivering the information to the public, the additional time enables us to ensure that we are reporting the official and verified number of prize winners. Please hold on to your tickets, and we will let you know when retailers are able to pay prizes on winning tickets from the August 23 Powerball and Double Play drawings.
