It is one of the best books I've read on the subject, if not THE best. While Priscilla's autobiography depicts strict parents frowning upon their young daughter's relationship with an older famous rock star, this book tells a story exactly the opposite- that they pushed their daughter toward the ultimate goal of marrying Elvis Presley. To start off by saying Elvis didn't want to marry Priscilla, to then say he never loved her and vise versa, to then say Priscilla should never have divorced him because of his constant cheating and then quoting his ex-girlfriends stating they would never have divorced Elvis Presley for cheating because that was part of the package one of these quotes was actually from a girlfriend who left Elvis specifically because he was cheating on her with Priscilla and then to blame his untimely death on Priscilla because he was so in love with her and wanted to be with her so much that he let himself go due to depression after their divorce are just some of the many conflicting theories in this book. From her home state of Idaho, the trio drove 24 hours to Missouri where one can get married from the age of 15 with parental consent. This book has certainly out some interesting ideas out there. Baby and Funny I thought reading this after "Elvis and Me" would give a degree picture of the reality of Elivs and Priscilla's relationship and marriage, but it really acts as more of a expose on Priscilla's ambition and greedy family. And then in some cases, parents really have good intentions and they don't realize that they are also being groomed by pedophiles that have horrible intentions for their child. It's very hard for anybody outside of a relationship to comment exactly on what goes on behind closed doors. Soo Taft. Unfortunately, because of the cultural emphasis on virginity, child marriage is sometimes seen as a legitimate way to protect girls in unsafe environments. I closed my mind on the whole situation. This book made me more of a fan of Priscillas. Creating safe spaces and channels for them to speak up for what they want and speak out against harmful practices will allow their voices to be heard. However, child marriage occurs in disproportionately high numbers in developing countries. Her fairy tale rendering of living with Elvis was a page turner and a riveting invitation into an inequitable relationship many could not imagine. I could get past the anger this author seemed to feel against Priscilla for whatever reason and I could even get past how she made Elvis seem easily manipulated to do things he didn't want to do, because I honestly believed almost everything in this book was severely embellished. I had a hard time believing anything I couldn't get past Chapter 7. Best of Cinematic Youth. She also said one can get married in her native UK at age 16 — a law that should also be questioned. In these cases, families living in poverty who have several children may arrange a marriage for their child to reduce their economic burden : One less daughter to take care of means one less mouth to feed and one less education to pay for. MARQUETTE LAW REVIEW Volume 98 Summer 2015 Number 4 NOT YOUR MOTHER’S WILL: GENDER, LANGUAGE, AND WILLS KAREN J. SNEDDON* “Boys will be boys, but girls must be young ladies” is an echoing patriarchal refrain from the past. Formal equality has not produced equality in all areas, as demonstrated by the continuing wage gap. Gender bias lingers and can be identified in language. This Article focuses on Wills, one of the oldest forms of legal documents, to explore the intersection of gender and language. With conceptual antecedents in pre-history, written Wills found in Ancient Egyptian tombs embody the core characteristics of modern Wills. The past endows the drafting and implementation of Wills with a wealth of traditions and experiences. The past, however, also entombs patriarchal notions inappropriate in Wills of today. This Article explores the language of the Will to parse the historical choices that remain relevant choices for today and the vestiges of a patriarchal past that should be avoided.

Your Corporate Story. Media Management On Video - In the News - On the Web Contact: Rick Kramer Marti Rulli Statement Submitted With Public Petition to LACSD: I, Margaret Rulli, a citizen of the USA in New Jersey, residing at hereby state as follows: 1. I make this declaration for the purpose of inducing the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to re-investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding the death of Natalie Wood on November 29, 1981 and to re-open the case for appropriate action as warranted. 2. Relevant facts include: Natalie Wood’s scarcely investigated death will continue to inflame controversy until a full-scale professional evaluation is completed. Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendour (GNGS), the book I authored with the former Splendour Captain, Dennis Davern, has answered the persistent curiosity of many readers, but information continues to surface, emphasizing the dire need for a full scale, official investigation. Marilyn Wayne, the only witness to hear Natalie’s cries for help—a vital witness ignored by authorities—has offered to publicly submit to a polygraph test to validate her account. Lead detective Rasure has always belittled Wayne for her adamant claim that Wood was in the water just minutes after 11 P.M. Wayne’s account is consistent with Davern’s account, yet these two crucial w itnesses, bot h w illing t o unde rgo pr ofessional pol ygraph t esting, c ontinue t o b e discounted and their motives questioned. Robert W agner’s book, Pieces of M y H eart only b riefly a ddressed the w eekend of hi s wife’s death—his account differed from the various versions he has told over the years.
