OMV Resumes Purchasing Iranian Crude The Austrian company OMV is reported to have received the first consignment of crude oil from Iran in several years after sanctions were imposed on the country. OMV received 1 million barrels of crude oil from Iran in a spot delivery at the Italian port of Trieste. The cargo will be further send to the company’s two refineries in Austria and Romania for further processing. OMV has now joined several other European companies that have already resumed purchases of crude oil from Iran. The companies include Shell, Saras, Iplom, Repsol and Hellenic Petroleum. Mohsen Qamsari, the director for international affairs of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), told that talks with several other companies from Europe are underway on buying Iran’s oil.

Iran to be Peugeot’s Manufacturing Hub in MENA region The French auto brand Peugeot will try to make Iran its manufacturing hub in the Middle East and Africa. Jean Christophe Quemard, the Executive Vice-President of Middle East and Africa at Peugeot, stated that the company plans to offer 30 percent of its joint products with Iran Khordo Company (IKCO) in markets across the region. As he informed, the Peugeot- IKCO car-manufacturing company, known as IKAP, will make USD 448.5m within the five next years and by the time being, each side has primarily fulfilled its commitments.

Iran Invites Tenders for Rail Coaches Iran’s national passenger rail operator, Raja Rail Transportation, has issued a call for tender for the supply and maintenance of a 250-passenger coach’s fleet of three types. Raja requires a mixture of 41-seat day coaches, 42-seat restaurant cars and nine-compartment sleeping cars with 36 berths each. The coaches will be equipped with HVAC and must comply with Iran’s UIC 505-1 loading gauge. The coaches will have a maximum operating speed of 200km/h but must be tested at up to 220km/h. Raja requires prototypes to be constructed first, which will need to be tested in Western Europe. The winning bidder will be required to manufacture a proportion of the vehicles in Iran to reduce production costs and meet the government’s policy to maximise local capabilities. Bidders that propose a high level of local production will score more highly during the assessment of their bids. The closing date to download the tender documents is 17th October.

IOOC Reconstruction Master Plan on Agenda Hamid Bovard, the Managing Director of Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) stated that the master plan for reconstruction and renovation of his company will be in effect soon and will be considered in the sixth national development plan. Bovard noted that in the past one month, about 8,000 crude oil was added to the daily capacity and in the short term it will reach between 30,000 and 50,000 bpd. The company has 195 platforms and about 60 storage tanks. Bovard stated that the IOOC oil is the symbol of Iran’s sovereignty in the . The Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) is a subsidiary of the National Iranian Oil Company. IOOC, an independent legal entity, is based in Tehran and operates in southern Iran. Its activities cover important areas of the Persian Gulf and its main operations are in Bushehr Province and on , and Lavan Island.

Iran already produced 11.4 million tons of crude steel in the current year According to statistics released by World Steel Association (WSA) Iran produced 11.4 million tons of crude steel in the first eight months of the current year, showing a 5.11 percent rise compared with the figure for the same period of 2015, which was 10.8 million tons. Only in August, Iran produced 1.3 million tons of crude steel, which is 8 percent higher than the corresponding figure of 2015, which was 1.2 million tons. Global steel production in August amounted to 134.1 million tons, which shows a 0.19 percent growth compared with the July output that reached 133.8 million tons. WSA is the international trade body of the iron and steel industry. The association represents approximately 170 steel producers, including 17 of the world's 20 largest steel companies, national and regional steel industry associations and steel research institutes. Its members account for around 85 percent of world steel production.

Siemens delivers first F-class turbine to Iran The German industrial group Siemens has shipped the first F-class gas turbine for Iran’s 600-MW power plant, six months after signing an energy agreement with the Iran’s power-generator constructors, MAPNA Group. Siemens was one of the first major companies to agree on deal with Iran after lifting of sanctions, signing a USD 1.6bn memorandum of understanding on Iran’s rail infrastructure and a long-term road map with MAPNA on the power sector. The delivery covers more than 20 gas turbines as well as the associated generators over the next four to five years. Iran has planned to invest USD 30bn by 2021 in the power sector, including construction of new power plants, expansion of network and increasing the share of the combined-cycle power plants in the total electricity generation from the current 25 percent to 50 percent. Thermal power plants generate 83 percent of Iran’s total electricity.

Iranian food exports hit USD 850m in the last five months Iran exported USD 850m valued food products in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year, which started on 20th March, stated Mojtaba Khosrotaj, the director of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO). Based on the report, dairy products are on the top of the food exports list with a value of USD 256m, followed by confectionary and processed products, valued at USD 178m. Canned foods also were among top exported items, which accounted for USD 70m of the total exports value. After the sanctions, lifting Iran is able to export to other parts of the world, stated Khosrotaj. H.E. Abdolmahdi Bakhshandeh, the Iranian Deputy Agriculture Minister for Planning and Economic Affairs, said that the exports of Iranian agricultural products increased 12 percent in terms of weight and stood at 2.86 million tons during the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year. The value of exported agro products in this period hit USD 1.92 bn.
