Effectiveness and success of this strategy are to a considerable extent dependent on knowledge and practice of the target community regarding the IRS. Iran has entered the malaria elimination phase, and IRS has been considered as the main strategy for malaria vector control. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the household knowledge and practices about malaria and IRS in Bashagard County, one of the malaria-endemic areas in the southeast of Iran. Methods: A community-based cross-sectional survey was conducted among 420 households in Bashagard County. The participants who were selected using a two-stage randomized cluster sampling procedure were subjected to a tested structured questionnaire. During the survey, direct observations were made concerning the use of IRS as well as housing conditions. The data were coded and analysed using SPSS version 19. Results: Knowledge levels about malaria as a disease and the mosquito as its vector were high and of equal magnitude (85.5% and 85.4%, respectively), while knowledge levels of IRS were even higher (91.6%). The main source of households’ information about malaria and IRS was primarily community health workers (73.3%). -

Email: [email protected] Received 26 July 2008; accepted 14 September 2008 Abstract: The 12-year period from 1967 to 1978 was a period of intense ornithological activity in Iran. The Ornithology Unit in the Department of the Environment carried out numerous surveys throughout the country; several important international ornithological expeditions visited Iran and subsequently published their findings, and a number of resident and visiting bird-watchers kept detailed records of their observations and submitted these to the Ornithology Unit. These activities added greatly to our knowledge of the status and distribution of birds in Iran, and produced many records of birds which had rarely if ever been recorded in Iran before. This paper gives details of all records known to the author of 92 species that were recorded as rarities in Iran during the 12-year period under review. These include 18 species that had not previously been recorded in Iran, a further 67 species that were recorded on fewer than 13 occasions, and seven slightly commoner species for which there were very few records prior to 1967. All records of four distinctive subspecies are also included. The 29 species that were known from Iran prior to 1967 but not recorded during the period under review are listed in an Appendix. Iran eyes $4b in developing two Oilfields: Minister 4/9/2018 5:23:00 PM Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh says Iran expects to generate a total of 4 billion dollars by developing Aban and West- Paydar oilfields that it shares with neighboring Iraq. Addressing a ceremony to sign a contract to develop the two fields here in Tehran on Wednesday, the official said oil recovery from the two fields is pretty difficult but once the envisaged 67 million barrels of crude is produced from the fields, the country will have generated 4 billion dollars given the current oil prices. Aban oil field is located 38 kilometers southwest of the city of Dehloran, and Paydar-e Gharb field is situated 150 kilometers northwest of the oil-rich city of Ahvaz and 35 kilometers from Cheshmeh-Khosh processing facility in Ilam Province. Both fields are jointly owned by Iran and Iraq. Their current production together stands at 36,000 b/d. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with Zarubezhneft on July 12, 2016 for the Russian company to study the Aban and Paydar-e Gharb fields under the newly developed model of contracts (IPC) with a view to accelerating oil and gas fields Iran shares with neighboring countries. For the purpose of improving recovery and increased production from these two fields, the current agreement is signed between the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) on one side and Zarubezhneft and its Iranian partner Dana Energy on the other for a period of ten years. “By implementing this contract, crude oil production of Aban and West-Paydar fields will increase 67 million barrels from currently 38 million barrels to 105 million barrels,” Mr. -

For this purpose all of the statistical data have been gathered by referring to the responsible organizations. After that, by using the desk study, field work and selecting some of the industrial units as studied cases and by referring to their production processes and obtaining the curtained analytical results, the industries have been separated to several groups including Food ,Textile , Pulp & Paper/, Chemical, Non- metallic mineral, Metal and Electricity & electronics Comparing the number of active industrial plants within the boundaries of Khuzestan province at 5 catchments area, indicates that Karun, Dez and Jarrahi basins with 1044. 324 and 290 active plants, respectively, are crowded with a lot of industries. Nature of the examined parameters has been selected in view of the production process type and includes pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity, chloride, sulfate, BOD, COD, TSS, iron. Results indicates that Dez river basin, being compared with the other two basins, impose the most degradable organic, nutrient substances and suspended particle loads to Dez River , and the metal pollution load at Karun basin is more than the other two basins , caused by the steel industries concentrated in Ahvaz city. -

Accurate pore pressure prediction is vital for several aspects of well planning, such as casing and cementing design, as well as the prevention of potentially disastrous kicks, losses and blowouts. Pore pressure analysis represents a key part in reducing drilling costs and optimizing drilling, both in the planning and operational stages of drilling a well. Another serious concern to well completion design and production management is the casing integrity. Many factors can negatively affect the integrity of a well’s casing. The most common culprits are hydrogen sulfide (H2S), which is highly corrosive, and mechanical failures due to geomechanical influences. Mature wells, especially those undergoing secondary recovery, are particularly susceptible to integrity problems. The casing may simply leak in which case formation water can intrude in to the casing. The influx of external water increases the water-oil ratio of the produced fluid. Another casing failure phenomenon is severe casing deformation and the resultant difficulties in working over the well. The workover tools will have difficulty passing through a certain section of the casing that is significantly deformed. In the worst case scenario, a sidetrack may be required. This 3-day course will start with the fundamentals of pore pressure measurement, overpressure generation, overpressure analysis, and pore pressure prediction in order to provide attendees with an understanding of the core components of pore pressure prediction. -

The depth and style of faulting in this event are consistent with shortening of the shallow Arabian crust within the Zagros Mountains in response to active convergence between the Arabian and Eurasian plates. Because this event is an intraplate event, occurring almost 300 km south of the main plate boundary, and since the event likely did not break the surface, precise identification of the causative fault is difficult at this time. On a broad scale, the seismotectonics of southern Iran are controlled by active convergence between the Arabian and Eurasian tectonic plates. -

The importance of renewable energy effects on Iran’s environment and economy is also discussed and the issue of the contribution of renewable energy for producing electricity in the future will be shown. Also this paper highlights the ability of Iran to manufacture the components of the wind turbine and solar system locally, and its effect on the price of wind turbine and solar energy.
