Lent and 2020 at the Cathedral of St John the Baptist Norwich Introduction from Canon Paul

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the solemn Lenten season, which helps us to prepare for the saving acts of celebrated in Holy Week, which lead us into the glorious celebration of the resurrection at Easter.

No matter how many Lents we have celebrated in our lives, each one is a gift from God to help us deepen our faith and understanding of what it means to enter the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I would like to invite all of us this Lent to engage with our Lenten programme to help us make a prayerful preparation for our celebrations. Our Lenten devotions help us to do this through the traditional acts of prayer, penance, and almsgiving.

Please do support the two charities which we will be collecting for this Lent: Aid to the Church in Need & SVP East Anglia. May God bless you, and help you keep a Holy Lent.
