BRAND NEW, Stan The Man: The Life Story of Stan Wall, from Top Rugby League Referee to Super League's Most Famous Kitman, Stan Wall, Andrew Quirke, This is the story of a life well lived and a true character of the game of rugby league. Stan Wall is today best known as the oldest kitman in Super League still working part-time at St Helens RLFC at the age of 79. However, Stan's amazing story encapsulates so much more. Once hanging up his whistle, Stan became an assistant coach at Leigh and St Helens, the latter club eventually giving him the role of kitman, a role he has fulfilled for two decades. As a vital part of the successful St Helens backroom team, Stan was also appointed in the same role for both England and Great Britain. This book lis the lid on what really goes on in the dressing room of a top Super League club, on international team tours and all the characters contained within. Indeed, Stan has a tale on many people in rugby league and in turn, they have one to tell on him too! • Two Kiwis on Their Way out of NRL: Kiwis Coach Stephen Kearney Is Philosophical About Two Kiwis Leaving the NRL to Pick up More Money in England
TO: NZRL Staff, Districts and Affiliates and Board FROM: Cushla Dawson DATE: 18 May 2009 RE: Media Summary Tuesday 12 April to Monday 18 May 2009 They are happy helping others: One helps out people from the other side of the world, one mentors the troubled kids at her league club, and another just looks after his mum. What the five winners of this year's Young Community Leaders Awards have in common, though, is a dedication to social work, rather than their social lives. Emma Daken, Teresa Edge, Henare Mihaere, Fofo Molia and Libby Tuite were chosen from nearly 60 nominees to receive the awards, which recognised Wellingtonians under the age of 25 working in the not-for- profit sector, either as a volunteer or in a paid position. Anzac test to stay - and it'll be in Brisbane: Despite the Kiwis' dire results in mid-year tests across the Tasman, the Anzac league test is likely to survive and remain in Brisbane because the New Zealand Rugby League cannot afford to host the game. NZRL chairman Ray Haffenden admits there are conflicting views about the test's value after New Zealand's run of eight successive defeats but has given it his backing and said the league cannot afford to scrap the game, nor host it. No sign of league World Cup cash: Six months since the World Cup final, the much-trumpeted tournament profit apparently still sits in a Rugby League International Federation bank account. New Zealand has not been told what the final profit is, or how it will be distributed and RLIF boss Colin Love couldn't be reached last night.

Clegg Chairman’s Message 2013 A warm welcome to visitors, old and new, as we embark on the 2013 Rugby League season; it seems like last season passed by in the blink of an eye. This season is, again, one of innovation for the Cumberland Rugby League with the advent of the Cumbria Men’s League and the Iggesund Cumberland League becoming the single Cumberland based competition. It has to be said that this is a positive step for the game in Cumbria as a whole. The Cumbria League will provide an intensely contested competition for the higher level clubs and the rejuvenated Cumberland League will mean that clubs get a better quality league with closer games and fewer matches conceded or having ‘blow-out’ scores. This, coupled with the successful transition to summer rugby, augurs well for the long term health of the game in our part of the world. Last season was another part in our learning curve here at Aspatria; a slow start meant that we were chasing the coat tails of our nearest rivals but a change at the helm, with Mike Hazlewood taking over, meant that we made some big strides forward.
