REDISCOVER Downtown Volume IV, 2013 A Peek At What’s Happening Downtown Those of you who have been following closely know there is a lot happening in downtown Las Vegas, where an urban renaissance is fully underway! Here is a pictorial sampling of a few of the over 70 projects either recently completed or currently under development downtown. Several new places have opened in the Fremont East Entertainment District. These include Park on Fremont (pictured to the left) on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street. Next-door is a new Radio City Pizzeria. Both opened this March. A topping out ceremony was held in late March for the $35 million, 11-story Federal Justice Tower, currently being built on Las Vegas Boulevard next to the Lloyd D. George Federal Courthouse. This halfway point marks the phase where the facade will be placed on the building and internal construction will begin. The 140,000-square- foot, Class A office development will house the executive and administrative offices of four federal government agencies. Approximately 300 employees will work in this building. In addition, a total of over 450 local construction workers are expected to be employed in building this facility. The estimated completion date is December 2013. Family-owned Simpo Sandwich recently opened on Charleston Closed since 2006, the former Lady Luck complex will re-open in Boulevard in the late 2013 as the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino.
