DISCUSSION The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) proposed a modification to the renewal process for TPPDs, in a report dated November 21, 2011, Council File 11- 1987, recommending that the City Council delegate authority to the General Manager of LADOT to administratively renew expiring districts. Due to administrative delays in processing LADOT's request, a number of the TPPDs have expired in recent months. In Eddit~on, LADOT is currently working on reforms to the City's preferential parking program to substantially modify current policy and set up new procedures for renewal of TPPDs. Considering that the great majority of the TPPDs included in the attachment to this report have been in existence for many years without any changes to their boundaries or parking restrictions, LADOT recommends the approval of the TPPDs as a package to avoid the time-consuming preparation of multiple individual reports, and review of individual reports in the Transportation Committee and the City Council, as resources are being devoted to the city budget considerations.
