O ne o f t he ar eas t hat JICA has be en closely i nvolved for the last few ye ars i s the non-formal education sector. In order to pr ovide educ ational acce ss t o the chi ldren of disadvantaged families, J ICA ha s supported the Alternative Schooling Program (ASP) consisting of School Outreach Program (SOP) a nd Flexible Sc hooling Program ( FSP) through a pr oject called Community-Based Alternative Schooling Project (CASP) since January 2004. After the implementation of CASP ASP a ctivities in D hading and Siraha, J ICA implemented similar a ctivities in Kathmandu district. The present study is an attempt to asses the CASP ASP outcomes with the possibility of their replications to the other parts of the country. First o f all, Teacher E ducators' S ociety N epal ( TESON) w ould like t o ex press its s incere gratitude t o IC N et L imited, J apan for their c ontinued t rust to T ESON f or gi ving us yet another o pportunity t o undertake this study. CASP ASP has been the pilot activity to create a community based sustainable model to serve the underserved children in order to bring them to the mainstream education system. CASP/JICA pr oject s upported the implementation o f C ASP ASP in ni ne Alternative Schooling Program (ASP) centers of Kathmandu district for three years and the pilot phase of the pr oject c ompleted in M arch 2009. C ASP/JICA c ommissioned t he pr esent s tudy to document the results of the CASP ASP program extracting the key implicative elements for their replication to the other ASPs. Objectives of the study The objectives of the Endline Situation survey of Kathmandu district were as follows: 1) To review t he implementation o f C ASP ASP and analyze t he cur rent s ituation o f t he graduates of CASP ASP 2) To assess t he outcome o f C ASP A SP c omparing ordinary ASP, a nd identify t he influential factors of its outcome 3) To provide recommendations for potential interventions after CASP The data for the study were co llected from the key stakeholders o f the CASP ASP program from po licy level, implementation le vel a nd the b eneficiary level.
