Viticulture in Serbia According to Statistics and Viticulture Zoning
VITICULTURE IN SERBIA ACCORDING TO STATISTICS AND VITICULTURE ZONING Dragoslav Ivanišević, Darko Jakšić Apstract: After more than 50 years, the Census of Agriculture, conducted in 2012 by Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, collected data on present situation in agriculture and viticulture. At approximately the same time, after more than 40 years, new geographical zoning of viticulture production areas in Serbia was carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. In Serbia, the area of about 25000 ha is under vine, out of which 22150 ha is in Central Serbia and Vojvodina. About 75.7% of total area is used for the production of wine grapes and 24.3 % is used for the production of table grapes. Viticulture zoning divides the territory of Serbia into three wine growing units which comprise 22 regions, 77 wine growing districts and a large number of wine growing oases. Advancement and planned development of viticulture can only be achieved if there is awareness of current state of area under vine, knowledge of assortment, seedling age, potentials of some wine making regions and other necessary conditions. INTRODUCTION ACTING DIRECTOR OF THE PE “ROADS OF SERBIA” ZORAN DROBNJAK “When you want to develop an area, equip it with good roads”, prof. dr Milan Vujanić says and I entirely agree with this. Interdependence of industry and roads is quite evident because roads, in addition to their main function concerning the transport of people and goods, also generate growth and development of all places through which the road network passes as well as all other which are indirectly connected with motorways and other important routes in the Republic of Serbia. Thus it is the main dedication of the PE “Roads of Serbia” to achieve what is expected from us – to successfully finish all investments and provide the same level of quality of all the roads in Serbia with constant increase of the level of traffic safety, with cordial assistance of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure. This is an imperative of our work, not only because of the expectations in front of us regarding the accession to the European Union, but also because good roads are one of the pillars of every serious and modern country. Road towards the achievement of big results starts with the devotion of individuals, each one of us. Owing to an exceptional devotion of the employees in the PE “Roads of Serbia”, achievement of the adopted plans is possible, regardless of the difficulties and not always favourable work conditions which the time sets upon us. Daily perseverance, devotion and openness of our employees to new knowledge and changes is obvious. -

S EPS Focused on Ecology and Sustainable RES Projects
Serbia’s EPS focused on ecology and sustainable RES projects ZelEPS for environmental responsibility As a pioneer, two years ago, Serbian energy company “Elektroprivreda Srbije” (EPS) started selling green energy to customers on the free market. It is energy produced in EPS hydroelectric power plants, and every kilowatt hour from the ZelEPS package has a guarantee of origin. Green energy sold with a guarantee of origin in 2020 was ten times higher than in 2019. Responsible and sustainable projects: The plan is for total environmental investments to reach 1.2 billion euros in the coming years Environmental protection and increasing the share of renewable energy sources in electricity production are an important part of the strategy of Electric Power Industry of Serbia. Every investment project includes environmental measures as part of responsible and sustainable business. So far, about 540 million euros have been invested in projects improving the quality of air, water and soil, and thus EPS has taken a leading position among investors in environmental protection in Serbia. The largest Serbian energy company will continue on the Green Road in the coming years, and additional environmental investments are planned in a number of projects protecting and improving environmental quality. The plan is for total environmental investments to reach 1.2 billion euros in the coming years. The largest environmental projects, currently in progress, are flue gas desulphurization plants. Electric Power Industry of Serbia will invest around 610 million euros in the construction of these systems in thermal power plants. So far, the project worth 96 million euros in TPP Kostolac B has been completed, which lowered sulphur dioxide emissions below the limit of 200 mg/m2. -
