Taking a Break...... 17 3 Introduction

I will watch with my family. We will watch the show from home rather than going to a theatre. This keeps everyone safe. 4 Show Structure

There are two parts to the show. A prequel and the main show. A prequel is something that comes before the main part. 5 The Prequel

The prequel comes first. It happens live on Zoom. This means the actors can see me if I want them to. If I don’t want to be seen, I can ask my adult to turn the camera off. That’s okay. 6 The Prequel (Cont.)

During the prequel, I will meet the characters of the show. They might ask me questions. They might ask me my opinion on a problem. If I want to, I can share what I think. My mic will be turned on so I can talk. 7 The Prequel (Cont.)

During the prequel, there will be some activities to do with my body and voice. I can stand up and join in if I want to. If I don’t want to, I can sit and watch. 8 The Main Show

After the prequel is over, my family will get access to the main show. We can watch it right away, or we can wait. It’s up to us! We can see the main show for 24 hours after the prequel is over. 9 The Main Show (Cont)

The Main Show is prerecorded. This means the actors can’t see me. Watching it is just like watching a movie. 10 The Actors

The Snow Queen story is told by four actors. The actors play four children named Kai, Gerda, Kragen, and Angorra. The children work together to tell the story of The Snow Queen. They play all the different characters of the story. Each actor might play many different characters during the show. 11 The Story

There is an evil magician with a magic mirror. When you look through the mirror, everything beautiful looks ugly. One day, while the magician’s helpers were carrying the mirror up to the sky, they dropped it and it broke into many pieces. 12 The Story (Cont)

Kai and Gerda are good friends, and they play together often. One day while they are playing, a piece of the broken mirror falls into Kai’s eye. This makes him act mean towards Gerda without realizing why he’s being mean. 13 The Story (Cont)

While Kai is out sledding fast, the Snow Queen appears, and she takes him to her ice palace. Gerda is very sad, and she cries for many months. She decides to go looking for her friend. 14 The Story (Cont)

Gerda meets a crow who says he knows where Kai is. The crow takes Gerda to a princess’s castle where Kai is living. The person living in the castle isn’t Kai. He only looks like Kai. The crow was wrong. The princess decides to help Gerda. She gives her many valuable things. 15 The Story (Cont)

Gerda is on her way to find Kai, but she is attacked by robbers: a girl, and her grandmother. The girl decided to capture Gerda and make Gerda tell the story about Kai. Gerda asks the girl's pet reindeer if he knows the way to Snow Queen’s castle. The reindeer says he does. The robber girl decides to let Gerda and the reindeer go. They go to the Snow Queen’s castle. 16 The Ending

Gerda gets to the Snow Queen’s castle. She finds Kai doing a puzzle that he can never finish. She asks him to come home, but he refuses. This makes Gerda cry, and her tear breaks the spell from the mirror piece that was making Kai mean. The Snow Queen goes away, so Gerda and Kai go home. Taking a Break 17

If I need to, I can pause the show to take a break. Here are some things I can do during my break.

Take a walk I can take a walk through my house and pretend I’m looking for Kai like Gerda. Do I see any forest animals as I’m walking?

Take some deep breaths I can take some deep breaths to help calm my body. I can hold my hand at my mouth and pretend there are snowflakes in my palm. I can breathe them in deeply then pretend to blow them around my room and watch them fall. I should do this three, four, or five times.

Tear some scratch paper If I’m having really big feelings, I can ask my adult for a sheet of scrap paper. I can rip this paper up to make mirror pieces like in the show. I should focus on each rip I make, and I should try to make the most pieces I can. I will clean up the pieces afterward, so they don’t blow in someone’s eye.
