The Channel [V] stage coverage will be live on Foxtel for two hours on Friday February 13 from 5.30pm and Saturday February 14 from 4.30pm bringing you music performances and event highlights with the stunning backdrop of Manly Beach. The surfing and skating will take a backseat when the Channel [V] stage is graced with the presence of new announced electronic up-and-comer Kilter at 5.00pm followed by indie rockers DMAs at 5.30pm and last but definitely not least, psychedelic dance trio Jagwar Ma will shake things up from 6.30pm on Friday. On Saturday morning we will cross live from our brand new [V] Music Video Show straight down to the sun, sand and surf to catch the morning hype and cure your hangover. Your Saturday arvo is sorted with Winterbourne hitting the stage at 4.00pm followed by San Cisco at 4.30pm and finishing with none other than ARIA nominee Vance Joy at 5.30pm. DMAs have been compared by many to legendary band Oasis when the Sydney based trio shot to stardom last year with their Top 15 debut EP. Straight from Sydney – Kilter is a 20 year-old who has mastered the collaboration of hip-hop and electronic genres to prep your Friday evening with summery vibes and lush flowing beats. 2013’s winner of Triple J’s Hottest 100 with the global hit ‘Riptide’, Vance Joy is the gift from Melbourne that keeps on giving. His debut EP God Loves You When Your Dancing (2013) was just the beginning, and he released his number one album Dream Your Life Away album late last year. Four-piece WA locals San Cisco are responsible for sensational indie-pop tracks like “Fred Astaire” and their brand new hit single “Run”. Jagwar Ma hit the Sydney dance scene in 2011 producing old school electro hits such as ‘Uncertainty’ and ‘Howlin’ and are certain to bring the house down. Brand new folk rock duo Winterbourne have had sell-out shows in Sydney recently and are among some serious talent that were featured on Triple J unearthed in 2014. Channel [V] is proud to partner with the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing to bring top local artists to perform on Manly Beach for their loyal fans. Join the conversation on our website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram when Channel [V]’s coverage of the Australian Open of Surfing hits your screens on Friday February 13 from 5.30pm and Saturday February 14 from 4.30pm only on Channel [V]. vmusic.com.au / facebook.com/vmusic.com.au / twitter.com/channelv / @channelvaust About Foxtel Foxtel is one of Australia’s most progressive and dynamic media companies, directly employing around 2,500 people, and delivering a diverse subscription television service to both regional and metropolitan areas over cable, satellite and broadband distribution. Introduction Seedesign Studio and our collective team are happy to present the concept design of the new Kings Square Urban Play Space. Through the RFQ process, along with subsequent meetings with the City of Fremantle and extensive information obtained through the community consultation process, we have developed an Utopian play space based on the character and history that makes up Fremantle. Titled ‘Freotopia’, the urban play space attempts to combine robust industrial and architectural elements of a strong Fremantle identity to become a tactile wonderland; highly identifiable, highly functional, completely unique. We’ve approached the design of ‘Freotopia’ as an all inclusive brainstorm of elements the community requested, responses required from an urban play space, as well as adding our own ideas and thoughts into an initial collage (provided by our art consultants). We’ve then taken the style of this collage and extracted it into 3D forms to re-imagine Fremantle into a tangible and magical world that will allow families to explore the rich history of Freo in a fun and engaging way. The San Cisco members attended the same high school in Fremantle. Singer and guitarist Davieson and drummer Stevens had known each other since early childhood and were former members of the rock groups "The Real Life Animators" and "The Flairz"; Biondillo and Davieson shared a common interest in skateboarding and music. Stevens is the daughter of Phil Stevens, who founded the Jarrah Records label with John Butler Trio and The Waifs, two bands also managed by Phil Stevens . Biondillo stated that he started playing guitar in high school when he was around eight or nine years old, but played mostly by himself in his room until he met Davieson.
