The report was prepared for section 46 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, in accordance with the requirements of that Act and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Act 1983. It was approved by the Board on 11 September 2019 and provides a comprehensive review of the ABC’s performance and delivery in line with its Charter remit. The ABC continues to be the home and source of Australian stories, told across the nation and to the world. The Corporation’s commitment to innovation in both storytelling and broadcast delivery is stronger than ever, as the needs of its audiences rapidly evolve in line with technological change. Australians expect an independent, accessible public broadcasting service which produces quality drama, comedy and specialist content, entertaining and educational children’s programming, stories of local lives and issues, and news and current affairs coverage that holds power to account and contributes to a healthy democratic process. RECONCILIATION ACTION PLAN Buŋgul Sydney Festival 2020 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY Sydney Festival would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which the Festival takes place, and pay respect to the 29 clans of the Eora Nation. We acknowledge that this land falls within the boundaries of the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council. We would also like to acknowledge our Darug neighbours in Parramatta. We pay respect to Elders both past and present, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples whichever Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nation they come from. INTRODUCTION Originally launched in 2013, our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) outlines our commitment towards improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by creating and fostering an organisational environment that cherishes respect, creates opportunity and builds cultural awareness. Sydney Festival recognises that Sydney is a vast, complex and exuberant city of cultural contrasts and social diversity, that Sydney’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage and contemporary cultures lie deep within the city’s identity and are key to an enlightened and progressive festival. They can give us justice for the past and hope for the future. The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria will be our voice as we work towards Treaties. The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria will be set up this year, with its first meeting set to be held in December. The Assembly will be a powerful, independent and culturally strong organisation made up of 32 Victorian Traditional Owners. If you’re a Victorian Traditional Owner or an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person living in Victoria, you’re eligible to vote for your Assembly representatives through a historic election process. Your voice matters, your vote is crucial. HAVE YOU ENROLLED TO VOTE? To be able to vote, you’ll need to make sure you’re enrolled. This will only take you a few minutes. You can do this at the same time as voting, or before you vote. The Assembly election is completely Aboriginal owned and independent from any Government election (this includes the Victorian Electoral Commission and the Australian Electoral Commission). This means, even if you vote every year in other elections, you’ll still need to sign up to vote for your Assembly representatives. Don’t worry, your details will never be shared with Government, or any electoral commissions and you won’t get fined if you decide not to vote. -

Directors The Directors of the Company at any time during or since the financial year are: Jenny Morris OAM, MNZM Non-executive Writer Director since 1995 and Chair of the Board A writer member of APRA since 1983, Jenny has been a music writer, performer and recording artist since 1980 with three top 5 and four top 20 singles in Australia and similar success in New Zealand. Jenny has recorded nine albums gaining gold, platinum and multi-platinum status in the process and won back to back ARIA awards for best female vocalist. Jenny was inducted into the NZ Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Jenny is also a non-executive director and passionate supporter of Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Australia. Jenny presents their biennial ‘Art of Music’ gala event, which raises significant and much needed funds for the charity. Bob Aird Non-executive Publisher Director from 1989 to 2019 Bob recently retired from his position as Managing Director of Universal Music Publishing Pty Limited, Universal Music Publishing Group Pty Ltd, Universal/MCA Publishing Pty Limited, Essex Music of Australia Pty Limited and Cromwell Music of Australia Pty Limited which he held for 16 years. -

Music Reading Read the passage, the e-mail and the festival guide. The Glastonbury Festival is an unforgettable sight. For three days, 280 hectares of peaceful farm country in the beautiful Somerset Valley become a vast, colourful tent city. The Glastonbury Festival is Britain's largest outdoor rock concert, and it attracts crowds of more than 100,000 people. It has six separate stages for musicians to play on. It has eighteen markets where fans can buy things. It has its own daily newspaper and is even broadcast live on television. It also raises large amounts of money for several charities, including Greenpeace and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. Glastonbury is just one of many events on the international music festival calendar each year. For dance music fans, there's Creamfields, the Essential Festival and Homelands - all in the UK. Rock fans have Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Fuji Rock and Summer Sonic in Japan, and the Livid Festival and the Big Day Out in Australia. And the crowds just keep getting bigger. In fact, the size of some of these festivals is causing problems. Since the deaths of nine people at Roskiide in 2000 and the death of a young woman at the 2001 Big Day Out, festival organisers and local police have been working together to make sure festival-goers stay safe. Despite these tragic events, festivals are more popular than ever. And it's not just about the music. It's about making new friends and partying non-stop for days at a time. It's about dancing till you can't stand up anymore and then crashing in someone else's tent. -
