Master Gunnery Sergeant Genao is native Hoboken, New Jersey. He entered the Marine Corps on January 21 1992. MGySgt Genao is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Marine Corps Detachment Fort Gordon. His other assignments included, Radio Operator, Communications Company 3rd Force Service Support Group Okinawa Japan; Communications Material Security Clerk, 3rd Marine Air Wing, El Toro CA; Canvassing Recruiter, Recruiting sub-station Austin South, Austin TX; Terrestrial platoon Radio Chief, 8th Communications Battalion, Camp Lejeune NC; Communications Chief, 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division (2MARDIV), Camp Lejeune NC; Frequency Manager, 2MARDIV G6, Camp Lejeune NC; Spectrum Manager, II Marine Expeditionary Force G6 Frequency Management Office, Camp Lejeune NC; Communications Chief, Marine Air Support Squadron 2, Okinawa Japan; Operations Chief, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 (MWCS), Okinawa Japan; Communications Chief, 1st Battalion 6th Marines, 6th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune NC; Operations Chief, Detachment Alpha, MWCS-28, Cherry Point NC; MGySgt Genao had been deployed Operation Iraq Freedom (2003), OIF 4-6 and OIF 5-7. He has also deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom (2011) with 1st Bn, 6th Marines.

He is married to his lovely wife Linda of 22 years. They have two young boys, Jacob and Marcus.
