The Mission of the Anaheim Community Foundation is to strengthen the Anaheim Community through people, partnerships, and pride.

The goals in support of the Anaheim Community Foundation’s mission are to:

 Encourage community participation, partnerships, and collaboration that result in successful responses to community challenges and opportunities.  Strengthen community-based organizations that effectively address community needs, promote volunteerism, and provide community leadership.  Promote community-building programs and events that inspire community pride and unity.  Provide individuals and businesses opportunities to make charitable investments that directly benefit the Anaheim community.

During Fiscal Year 2016/2017, the Anaheim Community Foundation continued to provide the means for people, organizations, and corporations in “Building Community through people, partnerships, and pride” in Anaheim. Under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors from the Anaheim civic and business communities, the Foundation linked citizens who wanted to give with neighbors who are in need of assistance, thereby enriching the community’s charitable spirit. Since its 1984 incorporation, the Foundation has continued to expand and provide leadership to meet community needs. In Fiscal Year 2016/2017, the Foundation maintained its firm dedication to supporting a broad base of programs, services, organizations, and facilities that enrich the lives of Anaheim residents.

In the Fiscal Year 2016/2017, the Anaheim Community Foundation Board of Directors continued to offer a well-managed non-profit organization that acts as a community vehicle for accepting donations of property, money, or securities from individuals, organizations, and corporations. All contributions are returned to the community. Managing assets of over $1,181,120 this fiscal year, the Foundation received $532,073 in donations and provided $544,458 in support to enhance programs and services that met human needs and aided local groups. The Board of Directors continued to provide the leadership support required to continue directing 100% of donations to the designated program and maximizing direct service to those in need.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

As a result of its leadership and reputation for sound fiscal management, the Foundation’s role as a community asset continued in Fiscal Year 2016/2017.

Endless Summer Celebrations – To thank the Anaheim community for being a part of the Disneyland Resort’s 60-year history, the ACF, in collaboration with the Disneyland Resort, was proud to host two of five family fun events for the residents of Anaheim. These large-scale celebrations featured Disney entertainment, non-profit booths, City Department booths, carnival games, and food trucks. All activities were free.

Helping Hands Grant Program - $14,000 in assistance was awarded to 19 local service organizations through its Helping Hands grant program. Helping Hands focuses on assisting community programs that improve arts and culture, youth and senior programs, community resources and emergency assistance. Grant awards range from $500 to $1,000. Funds are made possible by Anaheim residents who have made donations through their monthly Anaheim Public Utilities bill or online at anaheimcf.org.

Youth Scholarships – The ACF saw the return of this important program thanks to major funding from the Disneyland Resort, and donations from individuals and businesses. Over 185 youth received financial support to attend a recreational class or camp during all four sessions.

Anaheim Youth Services Assessment – The Anaheim Community Foundation was instrumental in coordinating the 2012 Anaheim Youth Assessment, which paved the way for a $3 million commitment from Angels Baseball, the and the Disneyland Resort through Accelerate Change Together (ACT) Anaheim.

The Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) serves as the managing partner and has brought additional funders to the program including the Ueberroth Family Foundation, Swayne Family Foundation, Donnie Crevier, and the Tarsadia Foundation. For the third year, the proceeds of the annual Anaheim State of the City event were directed to benefit ACT.

The ACT initiative is dedicated to meeting the needs of Anaheim youth. Funding priorities target effective programs that specifically address service gaps, challenges and barriers to the success of Anaheim’s youth as identified in the findings of the Anaheim Youth Assessment (AYSA) Report.

Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend – The ACF celebrated an 11-year partnership with runDisney in September 2016 as the official celebratory charity of the event. A donation of $7,500 to benefit youth programs was received thanks to this affiliation.

Anaheim Transportation Center- For over ten years, funds raised at the City of Anaheim Transportation Fair/Chili Cook-off have benefitted the ACF programs at Oak Canyon Nature Center.

CREATING A CARING COMMUNITY

Giving to the Anaheim Community Foundation allowed donors the opportunity to make a difference, be remembered, and enrich the quality of life in our community now and in the future. The Anaheim Community Foundation served as a charitable channel through which worthwhile programs including arts and culture, environmental/nature, gang-drug prevention and interventions, youth programs, human service/emergency assistance, senior programs, therapeutic programs, library, and scholarships were supported.

Because of the Foundation’s minimal operating costs, donors had the unique opportunity to give locally and be secure in the knowledge that their gift was directed to the program of their choice.

During Fiscal Year 2016/2017 the Foundation actively sought funds from the following sources:

The Foundation will continue to look for opportunities to act as fiscal agent in order to facilitate fundraising and services to those in need. In addition, the Foundation will continue to encourage all forms of charitable giving as a means of expanding the delivery of critical services that improve the quality of life in Anaheim.

COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAM FUNDS

YOUTH PROGRAMS

Anaheim Youth Initiative – The Foundation managed the funding for the Anaheim Youth Services Assessment conducted by the Olin Group that focused on current youth services offered to youth living in at-risk environments. This fund has a balance of $3,792.

Ballet Folklorico Dance Program - The Project S.A.Y. (Support Anaheim’s Youth) Folklorico and Cultural Dance Program provides youth with an opportunity to learn about and strengthen the cultural heritage and rich history of Mexican folk dance. Youth dancers perform in monthly events including the Illumination Foundation, OC Fair, Sycamore Junior High & Student Rally, Dia De Los Muertos, State University, Fullerton – Felices Fiestas, Ponderosa Park & Family Resource Center - Dia del Nino, Miraloma Park & Family Resource Center – Dia del Nino, Project S.A.Y. Banquet, Cinco de Mayo at La Palma Park, Anaheim Senior Center, Children’s Art festival and various other community events. Support helps to offset the cost of dance costumes, shoes and shoe repair, and general supplies.

Community Service Volunteers/VolunTeen Recognition - The 37th Annual Volunteer Recognition Event “Our Volunteers are OZ-some” was held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Over 450 individual City of Anaheim volunteers were recognized for their valued support, including Fire, Police, and Community Services programs and facilities during the 2016 calendar year. Also recognized were contributors from local corporations and service clubs. Over $1,322,142 in support for important community based activities was received from local corporations and organizations including the Anaheim Arts Council, Anaheim Historical Society, Anaheim Public Library Foundation, Anaheim Senior Citizen’s Club, Anaheim Public Works – Employee Transportation Center, Disneyland Resort, City of Anaheim Employees, Friends of the Anaheim Public Library, Friends of the Canyon Hills Library, Kiwanis Club of Greater Anaheim, L-3 Communications, and Republic Services.

Downtown Anaheim and West Anaheim Youth Centers Events and Programs - The Downtown and West Anaheim Youth Centers continued to provide a variety of activities for its youth members. The Foundation managed funding of $13,146 which was used to help offset recreation and special event supply costs that enabled the program to serve over 980 youth. Contributions of $444 were received from the Employee Giving Campaign.

Project S.A.Y. (Support Anaheim’s Youth) Youth Development - Project S.A.Y. is the City of Anaheim’s Youth Development Program and uses a combination of outreach, recreation, sports, academic support, and individualized guidance to engage junior high and high school-age youth in positive and constructive activities that help them develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for their successful transition to adulthood. Over 25,000 Project S.A.Y. outreach and guidance contacts to at-risk youth and their families were made this past year. The Foundation managed funding that provided 950 youth with the opportunity to participate in (6) Youth Leadership Conferences, (8) educational workshops, multiple field trips to local museums and theaters, and many hiking activities.

Tiny Tots Academy - The Tiny Tots Academy provides a nurturing educational environment for children to acquire the skills necessary for kindergarten approaching learning by providing hands-on experiences inside and outside the classroom. The program assists children in their emotional, social and intellectual development so they may fulfill their own potential. The Foundation managed $3,680 in support with $899 received from the Employee Giving Campaign, $2,781 generated through fundraising efforts.

VolunTEENS The summer 2016 VolunTEEN Program had 115 active teens volunteering throughout the City and contributing 5,975 hours of service. Sites included the West Anaheim Youth Center, Pearson Park Amphitheatre, Oak Canyon Nature Center’s O.A.K.S. Summer Day Camp, East Anaheim Community Center, Anaheim City Hall, and Tiny Tots Program.

Youth Park Playground Programs – With $86,059 of Foundation managed support, youth programs continued to provide after school activities, day camps, special events, and the “Fun on Wheels” mobile recreation programs to the Anaheim Community. Contributions included a $1,700 grant from the Anaheim Arts Council. Over 60,000 children participated in these programs this past year.

Youth Scholarships for Recreation and Personal Enrichment Programs – During this fiscal year, the Foundation provided 287 recreational youth scholarships totaling $13,259 to families who met residency and income criteria. Thanks to the generous support of the Disneyland Resort and numerous individual donors, qualifying youth were able to participate in a variety of recreational opportunities offered through the Community Services Department including: music and art classes, a variety of day camps and various sports programs.

CULTURAL AND PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAMS

Center Gallery - The Center Gallery, which is free to the public, houses beautiful craftsman-style wall, counter, pedestal, and hallway niche display cases. Exhibitions are scheduled year-round and include a wide variety of artists and media. Throughout FY 2016/2017, a variety of Orange County artists provided seven exhibits that were viewed by thousands of Center Gallery visitors. The Foundation managed $569 in support of the Center Gallery.

Concerts in the Park - The free summer concert series held at Ronald Reagan Park provides four concerts where neighbors and families can enjoy good music, family fun, and picnics in the park. Community support was outstanding with an average of 2,000 per night and the music styles range from classic rock, top 40, and tribute bands. The Foundation managed $36,275 in support, which included a $1,700 grant from the Anaheim Arts Council and donations from the Disneyland Resort, Concourse Bowling, Karen & Kimberly Schonherz, Anaheim Public Utilities, Republic Services, Anaheim Hills Rotary Club, and College Nannies + Sitters + Tutors.

Pearson Park Amphitheatre - The 2016 ‘Summer Nights Under the Stars’ season included musical theatre, circus acts, magic, and of course – music! Special evenings featured Polynesian and Asian cultures and the Anaheim Ballet School. More than 10,000 area residents traveled to Pearson Park Amphitheatre on Friday and Saturday evenings to experience the excitement of live theatre programming. The Foundation managed $68,650 in funding support. Donations received totaled $24,250 – which included: Disneyland Resort, The Anaheim Arts Council, B&M Lawn & Garden, Brookhurst Tow, DEVOTE, Kiwanis Club of Greater Anaheim, L3 Communications, Republic Services, United Methodist Church, and Council Member and Mrs. Stephen Faessel. The Drop-A-Dime Campaign provided over $1,000 in anonymous contributions that were donated throughout the season.

Pearson Park Shade Project – An account for the Pearson Park Amphitheatre Shade Project established in 2012 will provide funding for a custom designed structure comprised of sails that will provide shade for the entry, seating and stage areas.

SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMS

Advantage Assistance - The Foundation managed funding of $77,540 provided by Anaheim Public Utilities. This funding made it possible to provide $58,826 in assistance to 365 families by paying the electrical portion of their utility bill.

Community Assistance Special Events - The Foundation managed funding of $22,720 designated in support of Community Assistance Special Events. In FY 2016/2017, the funding for this program provided programs and special events to over 4,000 individuals with programming including support towards the annual Toys for Tots Program, program supplies and refreshments supporting the Annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, the Ponderosa Park Skate Park Groundbreaking, and entertainment and rental equipment for the Day of the Child Event. Donations this year included a grant stipend of $3,000 from the Orange County United Way for support and implementation of the annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

Emergency Assistance – In FY 2016/2017, the Foundation managed funding of $125 that provided support to one Anaheim family with the non-electrical portion of their utility bill.

Helping Hands - The Foundation managed funding for the Helping Hands program with $13,384 received from individual contributors in FY 2016/2017. The Foundation awarded $15,500 in grants to community organizations including: 4GIRLS, Altrusa, Anaheim Arts Council, Anaheim Ballet School, Anaheim Fall Festival, Anaheim Family YMCA, Anaheim Public Library Foundation, Assistance League of Anaheim, Chance Theater, Healthy Smiles for Kids of O.C., Kiwanis Club of Greater Anaheim, Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center, Orange County Family Justice Center, Pathways of Hope, Project Access, Inc., Project Dignity, Serving Kids Hope, The Joyful Child Foundation, Tiger Woods Foundation, Tilly’s Life Center, Women’s Transitional Living Center, and West Anaheim Neighborhood District (WAND). This fund is supported by donations from residents through the Anaheim Public Utilities Department billing system and, in addition to these grants, provides one-time emergency assistance for utility bill payment.

Homeless Service Projects - The Foundation managed $3,913, which made it possible for one Anaheim family to move from a motel to stable housing providing assistance with their rent. Financial support of this program is made possible by donations to the ACF.

Motel Families Project – In FY 2016/2017, the Foundation managed funding of $1,557, which provided support to the initiatives of the Collaboration to Assist Motel Families, including maintenance and support of a webpage. Financial support of this program is made possible by donations to the ACF.

NATURE PROGRAMS

Community Trees – This year the Foundation managed $5,367 in support of planting trees in City parks. Contributions of $690 were received from the Employee Giving Campaign to help offset costs of purchasing trees and supplies for tree planting projects. This year, trees were purchased for planting projects at Hanson and Circle Parks.

Oak Canyon Nature Center - The City of Anaheim’s Oak Canyon Nature Center is a natural park nestled in the Anaheim Hills. Located on site is an Interpretive Center with live animal and regional natural history exhibits. The ACF funds programs that encourage children to learn about the environment and nature. During this past year, the Nature Center has served over 100,000 visitors, and the Foundation managed $31,051 worth of funding for this facility. Contributions received from the City of Anaheim Employee Transportation Fair totaled $9,600. The Disneyland Resort donated $20,000, and $1,451 was received from individuals. Oak Canyon Nature Center used the funds from the Disneyland Resort donation to host the third Annual Spring Fling & Eco Fun Faire special event. The center was also able to implement an environmental education program in partnership with ten Fun on Wheels sites. The remaining funds will be directed toward enhancing the Interpretive Center’s educational interactive exhibits and the provision of activities that encourage children to learn more about the environment and the nature elements around them.

SENIOR PROGRAMS

Senior Citizens Emergency Assistance – During FY 2016/2017, the Foundation managed $7,300 in emergency assistance funding which provided nearly $2,000 in support to senior citizens with the non- electrical portion of their utility bill. Senior citizens were also provided with additional utility assistance from the Advantage Assistance program.

Senior Citizens Program and Senior Performing Groups - The Foundation managed $15,287 to help offset costs for food and refreshments, supplies, equipment, and entertainment for the Anaheim Active Older Adult Program special events at three Community Centers in Anaheim. Over 1,500 seniors participated in special events including the St. Patrick’s Day Dance, Holiday Luncheons, and the Annual Health Fair, Country Western Dances, Chinese New Year’s Celebration, and Health & Fitness classes. During FY 2016/2017, a total of $3,330 was received in monetary donations from individuals and businesses. These funds were used to offset expenditures for hiring accompanists for rehearsals and performances of the Anaheim Active Older Adult Program, and program supplies for performances by the Active Older Adults Program Dapper Tapper group.

Senior Fitness – The Foundation managed $5,946 in support of fitness programs provided to nearly 1,400 active older adults. Active older adults participated in local Table Tennis Tournaments and the National Senior Olympics, Health and Wellness fitness classes, and Zumba Gold fitness classes.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Flag Day Ceremony - The Foundation managed $3,652 in financial support for the annual Flag Day Celebration held on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Pearson Park. More than 1,200 youth and adults enjoyed the patriotic parade and A Musical Tribute to Old Glory program. Contributions from both individuals and businesses totaled $6,388.

Nutcracker Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting - The Nutcracker Holiday Committee planned and conducted the 22st annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown Anaheim on December 3, 2016. The program featured Special Guest Stars “Darth Vader” and his entourage, a “holiday village,” snow play area, train rides, performances from the Anaheim Union High School District Choir, Marching Band, and the Anaheim Ballet School, and a special visit from Santa Claus. The Foundation managed $12,275 worth of funding for this event. Contributions were received from the City of Anaheim $7,500, Anaheim Public Utilities 1,500, and $3,275 from local businesses.

Nutcracker Tree Lighting Ceremony

Mobile Entertainment Unit – This fund has $3,000 in contributions towards the purchase of a new Mobile Entertainment stage for the Anaheim Community Services Department.

Therapeutic Recreation Program – The Therapeutic Recreation Program is currently in transition from Maxwell Park to the Anaheim Accessibility Center. The Anaheim Train Depot is being renovated to comply with ADA standards and will offer direct services to residents with developmental disabilities. During this Fiscal Year there were no transactions with this fund.

West Anaheim Neighborhood Development Council (WAND) - The West Anaheim Neighborhood Development Council (WAND) is a vital link in the community and the Foundation managed its $9,903 in financial assets. WAND hosted the 20th Annual Western Barbeque on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Twila Reid Park. The event was a culmination of hard work put on by the WAND committee in conjunction with City of Anaheim and Foundation support. This successful event drew over 5,000 local Anaheim residents who enjoyed a fun-filled day that included live musical and stage entertainment, pony rides, children’s activities, an antique car and craft show, a ‘Jaws of Life’ demonstration by Anaheim Fire & Rescue, and the Disneyland Resort Junior Chef Activity! Exhibitors including the Anaheim Public Utilities, Anaheim Code Enforcement, Friends of the Anaheim Public Library, West Anaheim Community Garden, Anaheim Historical Society, Orange County Family Justice Center, Anaheim Fire & Rescue as well as many others provided interactive and informational booths. Twila Reid Park was also the host site for WAND’s Annual Holiday Magic Christmas Tree Lighting event which was held December 2, 2016. The event was attended by over 1,000 people and included a variety of live musical entertainment, a bonfire, children’s craft activities, ceremonial tree lighting, and a special guest - Santa Claus who brought delight and 14

special gifts to children and their families. The Foundation provided $500 in support of these events. Contributions totaling $12,624 were received from various businesses and organizations as well as the Disneyland Resort in appreciation for WAND hosting one of the Endless Summer events at John Marshall Park.

Youth Tennis Tournament - The Foundation managed $75,936 for the Youth Tennis Program. The 53nd annual sanctioned “Anaheim Junior Tennis Tournament” was held the first two weeks in December 2016 at various locations throughout the City including the Anaheim Tennis Center. As a result of this event, $3,500 in revenue was deposited with the Foundation. The new STARS Youth Tennis program provided recreational opportunities and instruction to youth in Anaheim. The program served 33 children during the year and includes (6) weeks of free (1) hour sessions quarterly to participants brought to Anaheim Tennis Center from four STARS sites (Pearson, Modjeska, Miraloma, and Juarez). All programs are designed to teach the fundamentals of tennis from professional instructors.

OTHER SUPPORTED ACTIVITIES

Anaheim Health Fair - The Anaheim Health Fair celebrated its 11th anniversary in April with founding partners GBS Linens, Inc. and Anekant Community Center. Additional sponsors include the WalMart Foundation, Anaheim Public Utilities, and the Clubhouse at Anaheim Hills. Dr. Nitin Shah and Mr. Pravin Mody have dedicated their time and expertise to organize health fairs that ensure individuals and families throughout Anaheim can enjoy free access to basic medical attention.

Anaheim Police Department Homeless Resource Fund – This new fund provides a valuable resource to the officers interacting daily with the homeless population and facilitates funding to expedite providing resources such as bus passes, meals and other necessary purchases to support their efforts.

Anaheim Police Department’s Mounted Unit - The Anaheim PD Mounted Enforcement Unit celebrated “21 years of hoof beats” in 2016. The unit – consisting of eight officers, a sergeant, lieutenant and a deputy chief, and their horses – is part of the Orange County Regional Mounted Unit, which consists of the seven police agencies in O.C. with mounted units (Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Newport Beach, Buena Park, Huntington Beach and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department). This fund supports expenses for the horses as well as charitable activities like visiting CHOC Children’s to put some smiles on the faces of ill kids at the Orange hospital by delivering toys. The fund balance is $6,059.

Anaheim Police Department’s Awards and Retirement Ceremony – This fund was established in support of the annual Anaheim Police Department’s Awards and Retirement Ceremony. The ceremony includes awarding of the Medal of Valor, Distinguished Service, Life Saving, Joseph T. Malloy Career Achievement Award, Special Recognition, Special Unit of the Year, Division Employee of the Year - both Sworn and Civilian, and Randall W. Gaston Community Service Award. The ceremony also honors all current retirees. The Foundation managed $19,715 in funding resources toward event related expenses in FY 2016/17.

Anaheim Therapeutic Recreation Building Fund - This fund was established at the Foundation’s inception to build funding support for the proposed relocation of the Anaheim Therapeutic Recreation Center (ATRC) to a new site. Pending the initiation of a capitol project campaign or the awarding of a building grant, “shovel ready” plans exist for a proposed expansion of the Brookhurst Community Center that includes a multipurpose complex with therapeutic recreation wing. This fund has a balance of a $60,300.

C4K - Cops for Kids - C4K is a program of the Anaheim Police Activities League (APAL) that serves all children between the ages of 5 and 17 who live in or attend school in Anaheim and aims to establish positive relationships among youth, police, and the community at large. APAL's goals are to provide alternatives to gangs, drugs, and other criminal activities through a vast array of programs. In particular APAL provides a variety of cultural, educational and recreational activities for the youth of Anaheim. These diverse programs help youth develop a positive self-image and successful interpersonal skills which will encourage them to stay in school and play a constructive role in the community. The Foundation managed $12,846 in funding resources, generating $389 through Employee Giving Campaigns.

Community Gardens – There are currently four community gardens in the City run by the neighboring community members. The Community Gardens project began in 2012 as a way to transform vacant and unused spaces throughout Anaheim into community gardens that encourage relationships and healthy living. Garden plots are available to community members at each garden. The Foundation manages donations to support each of the projects.

DEVOTE – Anaheim’s Dedicated Employee Volunteers Offering Time and Energy - DEVOTE raises funds and organizes special events for people in need throughout Anaheim. It is comprised of City employees who donate their time and energy to work on philanthropic community projects. The Foundation managed $14,362 in funding resources on behalf of DEVOTE, generating $12,939 through Employee Giving Campaigns and $1,423 through the Casual for A Cause Program. DEVOTE awarded $6,194 to numerous Anaheim based organizations including the Orange County Family Justice Center, Anaheim Community Service’s Annual Adopt-A-Family and Meals from the Heart annual events, Community Foundation’s Senior Assistance Fund, 2017 Pearson Park Amphitheatre’s Summer Nights 16

Program, as well as 30-day bus passes for Anaheim teens commuting to/from school from motels in Anaheim.

DISNEYLAND RESORT DIAMOND CELEBRATION (60TH ANNIVERSARY) – The Disneyland Resort honored 60 years of community giving by announcing the Million Dollar Dazzle and contributing to many significant Anaheim Park improvements that were completed including the installation of skate parks at Palm Lane Park and Schweitzer Park, a Pickle Ball court at Twila Reid park, and field renovations.

Fire - CERT Program - Anaheim Fire Department’s CERT Program promotes the ongoing training and participation of its volunteer force by providing many educational opportunities to better prepare for and respond to disasters. CERT volunteers re-certify on an annual basis to maintain their active status as a Disaster Service Worker. The Foundation managed $9,128 in funding resources, generating $147 through the Employee Giving Campaign.

Fire Education/Community Relations - Anaheim Fire Department’s Education/Community Relations program includes the Emergency Management Division which is dedicated to providing disaster preparedness education and information to the City of Anaheim. This includes the Anaheim city government, its residents and businesses. The City has a comprehensive Emergency Management Program which includes all elements necessary to respond quickly and effectively to major emergencies. These elements include an Emergency Operations Plan, Emergency Operations Center, Public Safety Officers, Public Education Programs, and trained volunteers. The Foundation managed $1,005 in funding resources in FY 2016/2017.

Fire - EXPLORER Program - Anaheim Fire Department’s EXPLORER ‘Learning for Life Program’ offers young adults 14 through 18 years of age the opportunity to become part of the Anaheim Fire Department’s Explorer Post. Fire Explorers learn firefighting skills, hose lay evolutions, ladder techniques, salvage operations, wild land firefighting procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, basic first aid, and leadership skills that can be applied to any career. After meeting the minimum requirements they have the opportunity to participate in the ride along program where they are side by side professional Firefighters and respond to actual fires and emergencies - riding on the Paramedic Engines, Ladder Trucks, or performing an inspection. The Foundation managed $3,358 in funding resources, generating $1,522 through Employee Giving Campaigns.

Fireworks – This program was transitioned to a community non-profit fundraising opportunity in 2016 offered through a lottery to select the organizations chosen to sell Safe and Sane fireworks in certain areas of the City. The Foundation fund balance is $20,182 and saw no activity this past year.

JMh Anaheim –Love Anaheim is a partnership between churches, local businesses, and the city to love and serve Anaheim. The quarterly one-day events show love to neighbors and spread goodness, meet needs, and demonstrate kindness. The ACF managed $6,025 in funds for community service projects through Love Anaheim.

Kash for K9’s – This past year, this group successfully completed fundraising to purchase two bronze monuments to honor the dedication of the Anaheim Police Department’s K-9 units. One monument is in the La Palma Dog Park and the other is located at the Olive Hills Dog Park, which was dedicated in August of 2016.

Library - The Anaheim Public Library Foundation is a clearing house for community input and sponsors Library fund raisers such as the Annual Mystery Authors Luncheon held each spring. These Library friends care about the welfare of the library and strive to strengthen the library's resources to the community. Proceeds go to support library collections, special programs, and many valuable extras that enhance the library experience. The Foundation managed $3,694 in funding resources, generating $4,238 through Employee Giving Campaigns and $3,525 through individual donations.

MUZEO, Inc - The MUZEO engages the community by exploring and celebrating our diverse heritage, culture and arts through creative programming. The MUZEO hosts three traveling exhibitions per year which would otherwise not be displayed in the region. A new model for urban cultural centers, the MUZEO features a unique variety of changing exhibitions, special events, lectures, classes and weekend festivals. The 25,000 square foot MUZEO complex encompasses Anaheim’s original Carnegie Library (built in 1908) and a new state-of-the art gallery space which has been seamlessly integrated into an urban setting. The Foundation managed $525 in funding resources generating through Employee Giving Campaigns.

Orange County Family Justice Center (Formerly Anaheim Family Justice Center) - The Center is a safe, confidential and friendly place where assistance is provided to survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and elder/dependent adult abuse. The Orange County Family Justice Center works together to make a difference by restoring hope through the dedication of trained advocates, on- site partner and support staff. The Center is not a Police Station, but rather a "one-stop place" to secure various social services. The Foundation managed $7471 generated through Employee Giving Campaigns.

Park Improvement Fund – This fund supports donations to fund park enhancements. The account has a balance of $1,000.

Sister City – This program’s focus has been on the cultural/education exchange and recently expanded its objectives in the hopes of realizing a more meaningful benefit to both the City of Anaheim and our partners. While recognizing the value that the cultural exchange program, the development of economic benefits and international commerce will also be a key objective in our sister city activities and interactions. The primary responsibilities of the Sister City Commission are to maintain the integrity and spirit of the existing relationships, implement the council's vision for expansion, and provide the Mayor and Council with recommendations on future sister city relationships based on revised objectives. The Foundation managed $16,121 in funding resources and provided $14,413.76 toward program related expenses in FY 2016/17.

Veteran’s Working Group – The City of Anaheim has continually honored its veterans and active military personnel for their sacrifices to this country and unyielding bravery. In return, the City has frequently explored additional opportunities to provide assistance and well-deserved recognition to Anaheim veterans and active military personnel. The Veterans Working Group consists of individuals from veteran-based non-profit organizations, active community members, other government jurisdictions and multiple City department staff. The group coordinates funding for veteran programs and activities. The Foundation managed $8,500 in FY 2016/2017. This group had no activity this past year.
