FACTS ABOUT WAPA RADIO NETWORK:

WAPA-AM San Juan, , WISO-AM Ponce, Puerto Rico and WGYA-AM Guayama, Puerto Rico are the main stations of the all news/ network "Cadena WAPA Radio". It is composed of six AM stations transmitting from the six most important cities of the Island.

WAPA is owned by Wifredo G. Blanco-Pi, an electrical engineer who was the fist in developing an AM synchronous station network in the United States. All the stations in the network are synchronized using a 10Mhz. signal derived from the Naval GPS Satellites converted to the operating frequency of the stations. The audio is also synchronized between the stations using a microseconds digital audio delay.

ALL THE STATIONS IN THE NETWORK BROADCAST THE SAME PROGRAMMING THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE BROADCAST DAY.

The AM synchronous stations network is composed of six powerful stations transmitting only on 3 frequencies: 680 KHz., 1260 KHz. and 1590 KHz. The radio station network can be tuned on 680 AM over the North and East parts of the Island, on 1260 AM over the South, Southwest, West, and Northwest parts of the Island and on 1590 AM over the southeast part of the Island.
