Awakening David Duke • ; •• ••; .-• • AWAKENING DAVID DUKE ISBN #1-892796-00-7 $ 29.95 My Awakening is more than just a fasci- nating autobiography of a very controver- sial man. It is an incredibly honest book that dares to confront the most challenging is- sues of modern times. David Duke's book is not for the faint of heart or for those smug in their belief sys- tems. It is for those unafraid to be stimulated by facts and ideas that may well question established beliefs. It is a revolutionary and evolutionary book that Glayde Whitney (a prominent behaviorial geneticist) says may well "rattle civilization to its core." David Duke, devotes most of the book to his views on race and its implications for so- ciety and evolution, but it is also an exciting and revealing story of a man known only as a caricature painted by a hostile media. In advancing his powerful thesis, he of- fers copious research and amazing quotes from men both in historical and contempo- rary times. He offers over a thousand refer- ences and an extensive index for the re- searcher. Love him or hate him, you will be affected by his candid, totally open, hell-for-leather gallop across the politically corrected land- scape of our times. After reading My Awakening, you may never be the same again. "...more than just a book. It is a pains- takingly documented, academically excel- lent work of socio-biological-political his- tory that has the potential to raise tremen- dous controversy and change the very course of history." — Professor Glayde Whitney, a leading re- searcher in the field of behavioral genetics, from his Foreword in My Awakening. COMMENTARIES PIONEER'S BIG LIE Paul A. Lombardo* In this they proceeded on the sound principle that the magnitude of a lie always contains a certain factor of credibility, since the great masses of the people in the very bottom of their hearts tend to be corrupted rather than consciously and purposely evil, and that, therefore, in view of the primitive simplicity of their minds, they more easily fall a victim to a big lie than to a little one, since they themselves lie in little things, but would be ashamed of lies that were too big. Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf' In the spring of 2002, I published an article entitled "The American Breed" Nazi Eugenics and the Origins of the Pioneer Fund as part of a symposium edition of the Albany Law Review.2 My objective was to present "a detailed analysis of the.., origins of the Pioneer Fund"3 and to show the connections between Nazi eugenics and one branch of the American eugenics movement that I described as purveying "a malevolent brand of biological determinism."4 I collected published evidence on the Pioneer Fund's history and supplemented it with material from several archival collections-focusing particularly on letters and other documents that explained the relationship between Pioneer's first President, 'Paul A. GLAYDE WHITNEY—A CITIZEN-SCIENTIST Race, Genetics & Society: Glayde Whitney on the Scientific and Social Policy Implications of Racial Differences Edited with foreword by Kevin Lamb Washington, DC: Scott-Townsend Publishers, 2002 $22.00 pb. 181 pp. Reviewed by Brent Nelson he editor of this collection has appended to it a bibliography of the publica- tions of the late Glayde Whitney, which occupies almost thirteen closely Tprinted pages. Ninety percent of the entries cite articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Behavior Genetics, Journal of Comparative & Physiological Psychol- ogy, and Physiology and Behavior. Glayde Whitney, professor of psychology at Florida State University and president of the Behavior Genetics Association, was a scientist who approached psychology from its biological grounding. He was also a dedicated activist. He not only contributed to American Renaissance but honored The Occidental Quarterly and the Citizens Informer by becoming a member of their editorial advisory boards. Just as he had begun to take part in the activities of the Council of Conservative Citizens and to con- tribute almost regularly to its publication Citizens Informer, Dr. Whitney died at the age of 62 from an attack of the asthma from which he had long suffered. His death was a great loss. He was a brilliant man and, more importantly, an exemplar of honor and loyalty. This collection culls from Dr. Whitney’s work articles that he published in the later years of his life, a period when he undertook the great task of serving as an interpreter of science to the educated citizenry. He came to this task after decades of distinguished achievement as a research scientist who realized that psychology can only be founded on biological and chemical science, not ideol- ogy.

  • An Analysis of Stormfront Discussions on Race
“So Much for Darwin” An Analysis of Stormfront Discussions on Race Dianne Dentice Stephen F. Austin State University ABSTRACT Even though people who actively participate in the white nationalist movement appear to be a relatively small percentage of the global popula- tion, it appears that racist and anti-Semitic attitudes continue to inform a new generation of white nationalists, many of whom populate discussion forums on Stormfront, online since 1995 and billed as the first Internet site in the hate genre. Membership in extremist groups and support for sites like Stormfront embody specific attitudes about race, the importance of the exis- tence of biological races, intellectual superiority of whites, and justification for these beliefs that is sometimes framed with a religious perspective such as Christian Identity. This project is based on a content analysis of Storm- front discussion forums posted online between the years 2010 and 2017. The findings indicate that some discussants are willing to admit the exis- tence of small percentages of mixed DNA without giving up their white identity. They understand the concept of mass migration and human breed- ing patterns. Others stand ready to argue these points and discredit DNA testing whenever possible. Hatred of Jews is a recurrent theme throughout Stormfront forums, no matter the topic of discussion and both William Pierce and Wesley Swift are gaining currency with younger discussants on the site. Additionally and maybe most importantly, a mentoring system is in place where more mature and seasoned white racialists share race science anecdotes and articles from J. Philippe Rushton and Arthur Jensen, among others.

One of these tools is genealogical analysis, and one of these concepts is “ biopower. ” Spe- cifi cally, this essay seeks to demonstrate that Foucault’s concept of biopower and his genealogical method are valuable as we consider moral questions raised by genetic enhancement technologies. First, it examines contemporary debate over the development, marketing, and application of such technologies, suggesting that what passes for ethical deliberation is often little more than political maneuver- ing in a fi eld where stakes are very high and public perceptions will play a crucial role in decisions about which technologies will be funded or disallowed.

1 A Scientific Conspiracy Founded in 1970, the Behavioral Genetics Association (BGA) is dedicated to the “scientific study of the interrelationship of genetic mechanisms and behavior, both human and animal.”1 Like many profes- sional organizations, the BGA has the president of the association address the banquet at the annual meeting. In 1995 the president of the BGA was Florida State University psychologist Glayde Whitney, who had been on the editorial board of the association’s journal, Behavior Genetics, for a number of years and had an established research program investigating taste preferences in mice. His address, “Twenty-five Years of Behavioral Genetics,” started in a typical fashion for such occasions, as Whitney re- counted his training at the University of Minnesota and his arrival at Florida State University in 1970, where he established his “mouse lab” and began his lifelong research program. The address soon took a differ- ent turn, however, as Whitney began discussing the racial basis of crime. Such an investigation had been hampered, he declared, by the dogma that the environment determined all behavioral traits and by the taboo against scientific research into race. Whitney decried these trends, as he saw them: “The Marxist-Lysenkoist denial of genetics, the emphasis on envi- ronmental determinism for all things human . [represents an] invasion of left-liberal political sentiment [that] has been so extensive that many of us think that way without realizing it.” Whitney’s invocation of Ly- senkoism was a quick one-two punch for his audience of geneticists. First, it called up the discredited doctrine of the inheritance of acquired char- acteristics.

  • Beyondism: the Thinking of Raymond Bernard Cattell (1905–1998) on Religion, and His Religious Thought
BEYONDISM: THE THINKING OF RAYMOND BERNARD CATTELL (1905–1998) ON RELIGION, AND HIS RELIGIOUS THOUGHT by MAGRIETHA ALETHA CORNELIA MAGDALENA LOTZ submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF THEOLOGY in the subject RELIGIOUS STUDIES at the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AFRICA SUPERVISOR: PROF JS KRÜGER NOVEMBER 2008 ii BEYONDISM: THE THINKING OF RAYMOND BERNARD CATTELL (1905–1998) ON RELIGION, AND HIS RELIGIOUS THOUGHT Summary Having gained a particular understanding of religion from his anthropological knowledge and psychological research, Raymond B Cattell claims that morality and ethics could be motivated scientifically. He further postulates that the results of scientific research could be implemented effectively to thwart the modern trend of moral collapse. Consequently Beyondism is presented as a religion from science, working from without inward by starting from the outer reality and moving inward to intention. Beyondism is based on the acceptance of evolution as the prime process in the universe. It differs greatly from other alternatives to revealed religion such as humanism and existentialism. This study explores Cattell’s views on religion, epistemology, cosmology and morality, reflecting his Darwinian approach of evolutionary advance and cooperative competition. The evaluation of the viability of the idea of religion from science is performed by means of Ken Wilber’s systems theory and JS Krüger’s conditionalist criteria for religion. Read in the light of his work on personality, intelligence, heredity and environmental influence, his approach to genetics is considered outside the fashionable opinion by which his views have suffered negation, misrepresentation and rejection. Considering recent scientific and social developments, his authentic research and visionary interpretation could be of value not only in the field of psychology, but also in the study of religion.

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE PIONEER FUND: RESPONSE TO RUSHTON William H. Tucker* INTRODUCTION Recently in the Albany Law Review, Professor Paul Lombardo described the origins of the Pioneer Fund, noting the Nazi sympathies of Wickliffe Preston Draper, its founder, and Harry H. Laughlin, its first president.' My own recent book-The Funding of Scientific Racism: Wickliffe Draper and the Pioneer Fund-came to similar conclusions about Pioneer's early history and went on to document the role played by its key directors in opposing the civil rights movement on the basis of putatively scientific evidence of black intellectual inferiority.2 In response, Professor J. Philippe Rushton, the new president of the fund, denied all these charges as based solely on the distortion of "misleading pieces of evidence very selectively picked" and the use of "invective and name-calling."3 Rushton accused me in particular of taking the "low road" and characterized my work as "propagandistic. 4 Before offering my own reply to Rushton, let me first observe that I am pleased he has decided to air this issue in an academic journal. Even before reading my book-indeed, even before its publication- Rushton wrote to the executive editor at the University of Illinois Press and to the university president, with a copy to Pioneer's attorney, claiming, on the basis of the description on the Press web page, that I had defamed Pioneer, and suggesting that the Press "withdraw or amend" its advertisement.' This apparent attempt to *William H. Tucker is a Professor of Psychology at Rutgers University, Camden.

If used properly they hold great promise for preventing and curing disease. If abused they could open the door to a powerful new eugenics that would objectify human life and undermine the foundations of human civil society. I These technologies are being developed very rapidly. Neither policy makers nor civil society as a whole have had sufficient opportunity to understand and assess their implications and agree upon policies to prevent their abuse. I In recent years advocates of the new eugenics have become increasingly vocal and explicit. A strong response from concerned leaders is imperative.

  • Genes and IQ Research
The past did not go away Research on genes and IQ and why it must be stopped 1. Introduction Early in 2013 Chinese and American scientists announced that they plan to reveal the results of research identifying specific genes that influence IQ 1. In October 2013 a row broke out in the UK media about a leaked document from a DfE adviser, Dominic Cumming which endorses this kind of research and would use its results to shape UK education policy 2. In the same month, Robert Plomin, the scientist at the centre of all this research, published a book advocating using the results of ‘IQ gene’ testing to tailor children’s education to their genetic makeup. This research is the culmination of a right-wing, racist and eugenic agenda that stretches back 100 years. Nothing could be more socially harmful: if the scientists identify such genes, the first inevitable use of this information will be attempts to show that certain racial groups are genetically inferior to others. Other extremely harmful consequences will be the use of genetic tests to stream children for education from birth and eventually to select embryos to produce children with high IQ. Steven Hsu, who started the Chinese project, approvingly quotes British eugenicist Ronald Fisher in his presentations 3, which include plans for a eugenic breeding scheme using embryo selection to improve the overall IQ of the population. Robert Plomin, has been attempting to find ‘IQ genes’ since the 1970s. Up till now it has been extremely difficult to identify any such genes, partly because the science behind the idea of ‘IQ genes’ is very questionable (see below).
