The Drakul Wedding
You are cordially invited to The Drakul Wedding a short tale in several parts written by jakob free 1 The Blessed Couple* Chelsea Greenspan “The Bride” Johnny Drakul “The Groom” The Wedding Party Robin Yaffe Maxine Alba Roma Khan Maximillian Hoffman “The Bridesmaids & Bridesman” Vladimir Drakul Francois Stein Lester Wolvman Zeek “The Groomsmen” Guests of Honor Jamie Duboir Alen Feder Lilith Ogre Telli Goldstein *please use the appropriate hashtag in all social posts: #drakattack 2 Part 0: Somewhere in between Waxing Crescent Moon Chelsea Greenspan and Robin Yaffe were drinking overpriced prosecco in a bar somewhere downtown. The women hadn’t the slightest clue that the amount they had paid for two flutes’ worth of the bubbly golden liquid represented a nearly 50% markup of its actual price-by-volume, simply because neither of them knew anything at all about prosecco—they just liked the way drinking it made them feel. That is, it made them feel sophisticated and important. And both of the women would pay just about anything (without question) to feel that way but for a moment. Plus, they had both agreed, the occasion truly warranted it. Another beautiful wedding to attend, now officially on the books… “I wanted a destination wedding in Tulum,” Chelsea said. “Johnny wanted one in Transylvania, where his family is originally from, but to me that sounded like a nightmare. So we decided on Jersey where his brother Vlad lives instead.” Chelsea was the editor-in-chief of a well-known marital publication. It was simply titled L’ Mariage and was considered New York City's most prestigious of the half-dozen or so wedding magazines that had set up shop there over the years. -
Nesen I. the Horse in the Wedding Ritual of Central Polissia. Несен
ВИПУСК № 14 Irina NESEN Kyiv THE HORSE IN THE WEDDING RITUAL OF CENTRAL POLISSIA The wedding ritual as a complicated and developed system conceals various symbols and plots associated with them, which are represented by some characters. Sometimes they are animals reflecting different surrounding objects and phenomena. Such phenomenon forms a special zoological code1. In old times animals were objects of the cult (zoolatry). But this phenomenon is not always connected with totemism2. Horse occupies a prominent place among such animals and it is one of the oldest cultural symbols. But its role in the wedding ceremony is not examined enough because of the lack of the source base. A chief aim of the article is to distinguish horse role and place in Central Polissia wedding ritual. The research is based on the field materials gathered by the author on the region territory during the expedition, exactly in 30 villages of Emilchyns’kyi, Luhyns’kyi, Malyns’kyi, Narodyts’kyi, Ovryts’kyi, Olevs’kyi districts (Zhytomyr region), Ivankivs’kyi, Polis’kyi, Chornobyl’skyi districts (Kyiv region), Rokytnivs’kyi district (Rivne region), Iziaslavs’kyi district (Khmelnytsk region). In the world’s mythology the horse is always associated with the male deities – patrons of different worlds. Very often it is an inhabitant of the upper world air and in this meaning it possesses some birds features and is a zoomorphic deity or a helper at the last3. Among the Indo-Europeans horse is not only an assistant of the god of fire Agni, but a cosmic animal, whose parts are associated with the main parts of our Universe4. -

3450 Sycamore Drive Stow OH 44224-3999 p. 330.688.6411 f. 330.689.0186 www.holyfamilystow.org Marriage Guidelines June 2019 CONGRATULATIONS! On behalf of Holy Family Parish, we want to congratulate you on your decision to begin preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage. It is an important and exciting time in your lives and is important for our parish community as well. You have asked to celebrate a Sacrament of the Church, to publicly profess that your marriage is a sign of the love that God has for all people. This will place a special responsibility upon you to take seriously not only your marriage preparation but also the living out of your basic Christian commitment. It also places a responsibility on us to help and support you the best we can so that your life as a married couple is long and fruitful. The information in this booklet is only a guide. One of the most important contacts you will have with the parish will be the priest or deacon who will lead your preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage and preside at your wedding. On the Holy Family Parish Marriage webpage at http://www.holyfamilystow.org/Marriage there is a helpful Marriage Preparation Checklist that will help you through the preparation process. Please accept our welcome and our congratulations! We hope that your time in preparation will help you to know each other more deeply and help to open you to the ways that God may love you through each other and your witness to love in the Sacrament of Marriage. -
