Ligue 1 Guide 2021/22
2021/2022 Ligue 1 Preview Guide INTRODUCTION After a historically close title race that saw four teams in the running Ligue 1 is back with no small amount of fanfare following a busy summer. Of those four sides, while Lille and Lyon have been relatively quiet as they try to consolidate under new managers, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain have been eager participants in the mercato, buying well in a way that addresses the two sides’ needs. Nice and Rennes have also done some canny business in the offseason, to say nothing of Marseille’s flood of arrivals, but the discussions about pro- spective title favorites in France have to start and end with the capital side. Even as rumors swirl around the potential departure of Kylian Mbappé, it’s hard to argue that Paris Saint-Ger- main haven’t done their utmost to convince their young star to stay. At least, that is, if one judges by their transfer activity. The arrivals of Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Achraf Hakimi have bolstered Mauricio Pochettino’s side in key areas whilst also adding another layer of dynamism. If he can keep his squad happy and balanced, this team looks as potent as any in Europe, Elsewhere, Monaco are probably best-equipped to challenge, even as they will have to contend with playing European football. The arrivals of Myron Boadu, Alexander Nübel and Ismail Jakobs look to be upgrades, and so long as Niko Kovac’s exciting, front-foot football remains in place and so do all of its key elements. -

No. 190 MAY/JUNE 2020 OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE UNION OF EUROPEAN FOOTBALL ASSOCIATIONS 2m No.190 • May/June 2020 No.190 STAY SAFE EDITORIAL Aleksander Čeferin UEFA President FOOTBALL WAITS… AND SHOWS ITS BEATING HEART t is only a matter of weeks since European football was looking forward with great anticipation to an exciting climax to the UEFA and domestic competition seasons, as well as UEFA EURO 2020, a unique tournament Ibridging 12 countries and celebrating the 60th anniversary of the continent’s premium men’s national team competition. Since then, life in Europe and beyond has been turned on its head by the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus. Football has been brought to a halt at both European and national levels. UEFA has been forced to postpone all its club and national team competitions until further notice, while moving EURO 2020 to the summer of 2021 and UEFA Women’s EURO 2021 to the following year. UEFA reacted swiftly in making these decisions, within a full and frank consultation process not only with its 55 member associations, but also with fellow football stakeholders – clubs, leagues and players’ unions. It was the correct decision at the right time, based on common sense, in compliance with national measures and World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. The unprecedented circumstances indeed made it impossible for any sport to take place. I have been extremely proud of how UEFA and its stakeholders have acted together in a spirit of full and honest cooperation at this time. This spirit remains truly alive within a situation that is in a state of constant evolution. -

The Gffn 100 2018: Ten to Watch
GFFN 100 2018 THE GFFN 100: AN INTRODUCTION Welcome to another edition of the Get French Football News 100. Published at the end of ev- ery year by GFFN, the guide you are reading is as detailed and comprehensive a set of player profiles as one is likely to find, especially in English. Some of these players are well-known, even to the casual fan, and though they have been the subjects of countless profiles, we hope that you can gain a bit more depth in knowledge of their stories. This is especially true with the likes of Neymar and his Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Kylian Mbappé. In 2018, neither was ever far from the limelight in a year in which France won the World Cup, thanks in large part to the teen- age sensation. Neymar may have garnered the odd headline for less positive reasons, but both remain as compelling off the pitch as they do on it. It is thus no surprise to see Mbappé top the rankings again; it does not take much objectivity to realise his immense talent and potential, but the present document is much more than a narra- tive driven by celebrity. We have watched the matches that do not generate headlines, seen the teams that are rarely on television, especially internationally, and artfully blended statistical anal- ysis with old-fashioned scouting to create what we feel is a definitive guide to the professionals currently plying their trade in France. If some rankings seem high, or low, read the profiles before making a snap decision as to our choices; this is a meritocracy. -

The time of the Congress will be 09:00-14:00 hrs. The Congress will be held at the Mäetaguse Manor Hotel & Spa (official hotel for WTDGC) which is 500m from the Disc Golf main course. This is the first time the annual Congress has not been held in conjunction with an Ultimate Championship since 2007. Our Annual Congress is composed of several types of discussions. First, there are the business matters of the federation requiring voting approval of the members: approval of the proposed budget, acceptance of the financial statements, approval of the Auditor, the annual risk assessment, and approval of key play related matters. All of these materials were sent initially back in June to ensure you had sufficient time to review them in advance of Congress. Second there are a variety of presentations made to apprise you of our activities: the Census, disc community survey, the report on the many WFDF sanctioned events, activities of the disc sport committees, anti-doping issues, marketing and broadcast, the work of the Commissions, and the updates from our Continental Associations.
