PROVINCE OVERVIEW PROVINCE OF BATANES THE PROVINCE HAS SIX (6 MUNICIPALITIES) I. HISTORY The name Batanes derives from the word Batan, the local word for the Ivatan people is an archipelagic province in the Philippines situated in the Cagayan Valley region. It is the northernmost province in the country, and also the smallest, both in population and land area. OPERATIONAL UPDATE B. FIRE SUPPRESSION No Fire Incident Reported in the 1st semester of CY 2019 and CY 2020. C. FIRE INVESTIGATION No Fire Incident Reported in the 1st semester of CY 2019 and CY 2020. D. EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AND RESCUE SERVICES No emergency and non-emergency cases responded in the 1st semester of CY 2019 and CY 2020. List of Operational Fire Hydrants NEGATIVE IV. OPERATIONAL UPDATE • During the implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine, the OPFM Batanes personnel were deployed at different COVID- 19 checkpoints to implement the protocols of the ECQ ensuring public health and safety. • Decontamination of facilities and utilities often used by the frontliners was also conducted to prevent possible transmission of the deadly virus. • Basco Fire Station/OPFM Batanes established a dry decon area within the premises wherein the personnel are instructed to undergo the process of dry decontamination before and after entering the station. • The personnel joined at the info drive activity facilitated by the COVID-19 Task Force IEC Committee through Bandillo, an Ivatan tradition wherein news, instructions and information related to COVID-19 were announced thru the use of a megaphone of the firetruck. • OPFM Batanes despite with the poor signals of internet connection was still able to update and submitted continuous EOC monitoring reports V. Depleted number of Ivatan personnel to have a harmonious continuation of all programs of BFP in the locality 2. Procurement of New and Modern Firetruck must be suited to terrain of Batanes and quality of external composition of firetruck due tho sea breeze corrosive and deterioration is much likely to happen . 3. Procurement of PPE’s. 4. Must continue to participate Conduct 40 Hours training. 5. Procurement of firefighting equipment..
