Les intouchables worksheet answers Continue I can't think of a better way to expose my top-level students to a genuine language and culture than to show a well-chosen film in the target language. Although my students don't always appreciate French movies as much as I do, Intouchables has proven as popular among my students as it was with the rest of the world. While the R-rated may make it impossible for some teachers to show this movie, I have included parental advisory information from IMDB on my slip permission and all parents have allowed their children to watch the movie. Once I got their permission, the second step was designing a unit that would ensure that students were involved in all the ways of communicating as we watched the film. I started this unit with both the interpretation of reading and interpretation of Listening the challenge of introducing students to the film and the true story on which it is based. In developing the reading task, I did my best to simulate the types of questions that are used in the AP French exam. Thus, questions are a plural choice and include the basic idea, support for details, contextualized vocabulary and withdrawal issues. Although I started to include these kinds of issues last year, I still try to write good questions of this nature. Unfortunately, my students seem to have so much difficulty answering these questions as I write them, and I don't end up considering this task as a class. I do, however, learn a lot from this process. When I returned the documents to the students, I asked them to highlight a passage where they (presumably) found each answer. There were many Aga moments during this activity as students understood why they made the mistakes they had when they were forced to justify their answers with proof from the text. I will continue to require students to highlight excerpts when answering multiple-choice questions in order to make sure they draw conclusions rather than guesses. Here's the challenge, as I wrote it, with the caveat that I'll make significant changes before I use it again-all suggestions are welcome!!! intouchables_reading Unfortunately, I was not more successful in developing an interpretation of the Listening Challenge, which was suitable for students at this level. Although I wrote an open task rather than a few options, the video was too difficult for students to understand on their own. After receiving feedback on this from the first few students to try the challenge, I ended up showing the video in the whole class activity and stopping to ask questions verbally. It worked well and I think it was valuable for students to see the real lives of the men behind the characters in the film. Here's a task that I originally designed, in case you would like to see the video I chose. watched only the first few minutes of the second video.) Listen After these introductory introductory It's time to show the movie. Over the next four days, I showed about 30 minutes of film each day and then gave the students time to discuss the tracks they watched. Here is a draft discussion of the issues that I started with (film_guide), although I encourage them to use these issues as a springboard for a broader discussion that included their own ideas. I was very pleased with the way these discussions went, and the students seemed to feel good about their ability to participate in these discussions. I was circulating among groups every day, and could formly evaluate each student by the last day. When the film ended, I managed the IPA that a colleague and I wrote for the film. As shown in this paper (untouchable IPA), IPAs included another AP-style reading score (for a couple of movie reviews) a few selections of listening scores (on video in which passers-by give their opinion about the film), Presentation Letters (movie review) and interpersonal tasks (a role-playing game based on the scene in the film). Students practiced each of the role-playing games with their partner the day before the IPA, but were not allowed to choose which role-playing game they would play or who their partner would be on the day of the evaluation. Although I don't yet have all the data (we started IPAs today), students are showing some improvement in their ability to answer multiple reading questions (most of which were written by my colleague). I am optimistic that both my ability to write these questions and their ability to answer them will improve with practice. Students have also been able to demonstrate understanding of the video, although there is still, of course, many opportunities for improvement. I would be very grateful for any feedback and suggestions from those of you who teach AP level students. Do you write AP style a few selection questions for your interpretations of tasks, or more open ones? Are your students generally successful in these matters? Thank you in advance for your help!
