    Chair’s Report to C20 Southern Region AGM – 28 March 2021 Introduction At our AGM in February 2020 we were looking forward to another programme of outdoor meetings and events. Things changed so quickly from that date and everything very quickly moved online. I hope members have been able to join the many and varied Zoom events organised by C20 Head Office. More recently our Group has been working with the South West and West Groups to host a series of online events – our first on Seaside Architecture to be followed on 28th March (the day after our AGM) by a session on Ecclesiastical Building. We were pleased to have 65+ people attend the Seaside Architecture session. Future Programme We will be guided by C20 Head Office as to when we can resume outdoor events and the format these may need to take including numbers. These were the plans we had for 2020 and would seem to be a good basis to plan our next schedule subject to discussion with the original hosts: Hooke Park, near Beaminster and Briantspuddle (model village) with Mike Henderson (access to this event would be by car as no public transport serves these locations) Christchurch, Dorset Emsworth, West Sussex with Paul Underhill Woking, Surrey with Caroline Martin and Pauline Mousley Brighton with David Robson Potential Event on Hampshire Schools Others to consider: Shute House Garden, Shaftesbury, Wiltshire, 1969 – Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe A return to Poundbury – trip to be organised jointly with the South West Region Expanding the Committee The existing officers of the committee are proposing that we expand the committee to a total of six that means we have three vacancies to fill.

    drastic steps were taken to hinder any enemy attack by blowing a 120-foot hole in to the Pier's decking near the South Pavilion. A section of the pier was blown out by the military in 1940 to stop German ships unloading troops and supplies at the pier-head in the event of an invasion. Following the explosion large amounts of barbed wire were strung between the blocks and land mines were laid under parts of the shingle beach. 1940 – A section of the Pier was blown away by the military Pill boxes, anti-aircraft guns and searchlight batteries were also strategically positioned around the town, RAF wireless and Radar stations were built on the outskirts at Poling, Highdown and High Salvington and most of the South Downs, north of the town, were used as a training area for the British and Canadian armies. In 1942 when fears of an invasion had lessened the Pier became a recreation centre for troops complete with a canteen, library and billiard tables. Entertaining WWII Allied Troops Just after the war ended Worthing Pier had a lucky escape, when a large sea mine drifted between the girders. If the mine had touched the steel girders then it is very likely the Pier would have been destroyed. Following this luck escape the Borough Council put in a claim to the Government's War Damage Commission to repair the hole in the decking, and refurbish the Pier after years of military occupation and general neglect. The Pier reopened to the public in April 1949.

    Sussex Hospices Trail Part 4 Goring-By-Sea to Shoreham-By-Sea

    USSEX OSPICES RAIL A 9 mile linear seafront walk from S H T Goring-by-Sea railway station to PART 4: Shoreham-by-Sea railway station in West Sussex, forming the fourth stretch GORING-BY-SEA TO SHOREHAM- of the Sussex Hospices Trail. BY-SEA The walk is almost entirely along the coast with varied seafront pathways and promenades and fantastic views of the sea throughout. The route goes down, heading south, Easy Terrain to the seafront from Goring-by-Sea and then follows the coastline, in an easterly direction, all the way along through Worthing to Shoreham-by-Sea with magnificent views of the English Channel. The return leg can be completed by one train journey or a bus journey. 9 Miles The hospices of Sussex are dedicated to providing specialist end-of-life care. Friends of Sussex Hospices has worked with partners and supporters to create the Sussex Linear Hospices Trail, a 200 mile long-distance path to support and raise awareness of the twelve hospice care providers 5 hours that serve the adults and children of Sussex. Toilets and refreshment stops are plentiful along the route. 090619 Getting there The walk begins at Goring-by-Sea railway station and ends at Shoreham-by-Sea railway station. The two railway stations are connected by a fairly regular train service which takes just 15 minutes. Alternatively you can return via bus. As with all public transport connections, please look up the bus or train times before you set out. If you are coming by car there is parking in the Goring-by-Sea station car park which costs £3.90 per day and £ 2.00 on Sundays (correct October 2015).

Många av dessa kände att de hade velat prata med er, dela sina historier om Marie med er, om vad hon betydde för dem, och hur mycket hon har förändrat deras liv. Det ni håller i era händer är en samling av över 6200 berättelser, funderingar och minnen från människor ni förmodligen inte kän- ner personligen, men som Marie har gjort ett enormt intryck på. Ni kommer att hitta både sorgliga och glada inlägg förstås, men huvuddelen av dem visar faktiskt hur enormt mycket bättre världen har blivit med hjälp av er, och vår, Marie. Hon kommer att leva kvar i så många människors hjärtan, och hon kommer aldrig att glömmas. Tack för allt Marie, The Daily Roxette å tusentals beundrares vägnar. A A.     Annual Report April 2019 - March 2020 We listen to, support and connect children and young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or unsure of their gender identity and/or sexual orientation (LGBTU+). Welcomes From a Youth President, Chair of Trustees and CEO Welcome from our Youth President I found Allsorts during a rough patch of my life. I remember my first group session, watching while I sat nervously in my seat. I was amazed by how accepting everyone was, I was never once questioned as I changed my name badge three times over the coming months, before finding the name and pronouns I felt comfortable with. It was in a Talk it out session when I first heard about the prospect of becoming a Youth President, I wanted to help make changes to the society we live in and felt so empowered that somebody thought I was capable of this role. Now I definitely see this as a big turning point in my life, as now I had an outlook of hope and positivity. From struggling to attend school and battling with mental health demons I now saw a project that believed in me. A light had been switched on at the end of a very dark tunnel. Since finding Allsorts I no longer sit in silence, I speak up and air my views. I have been to all of the locations which groups take place over the past year. It’s clear to see the huge impact that they have on such a wide array of young people's lives and wellbeing.
