A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR FATHER JOHN: Dear Mary Queen of Peace Auction Guests, Welcome to the Mary Queen of Peace Dinner Auction and thanks for your presence and support tonight! “Grateful and Generous” is the theme of our Dinner Auction, and what a wonderful choice, because above all, Catholic Christians are called to be both grateful for the gifts that God has given to us and generous in sharing those gifts with others. This is the definition of Stewardship – being Grateful and Generous. In the weeks and months to come, we will certainly be grateful as Thanksgiving draws near and we will certainly be generous as Christmas comes around. But we can start here, tonight, and commit to being grateful and generous every day of our lives! This year’s Fund-a-Need is really a Fund-A-Vision, and it is a vision that is near and dear to me as I dream of the future of MQP. I vision a parish where every member of our community – from our children to our oldest – is growing closer to Christ. This happens especially at the Eucharist, but also at school, PSR, Youth Ministry, and other faith formation experiences. We have great (and some new) staff members in place to lead us forward in faith, and I want to fund the resources they need to move their ministry forward – musicians for our Youth Ministry and PSR, training and assistance for our cantors and choirs, and stipends and resources for our Adult Faith Formation. Through this Fund-A-Vision, I know our parish family will grow closer to Christ, and that’s what it’s really all about! Thanks to the Home & School Association who sponsor this biennial dinner auction, and special thanks to those who worked so diligently for so many months to make it a success. The Cavaliers sported a four- game win streak heading into the game against East Alton-Wood River. Though struggling for a tad in the first quarter, the Cavaliers were able to pull away from the Oilers in a 56-27 decision at the CHS gymnasium. Carlinville (9-4) has won five straight heading into Tuesday’s clash with Greenfield/Northwest- ern (see story from Tuesday on enquirerdemocrat.com). Grace Zachary opened the game by hitting a pair of jumpers in the first minute of the game, but the Cavaliers then struggled shooting from the field the rest of the quarter. Carlinville forced nine first quarter turnovers against the Oil- ers and built a 7-2 lead. East Alton-Wood River got within 7-5 on a free throw by Carly Campbell and a jumper by Abbie Cathey. The main objectives of this internship experience were to 1) gain practical experience in a specific area in the sport industry under professional supervision and guidance and 2) to apply theories and principles from my formal education to specific situations within the sports industry. I choose to intern with the Joliet Slammers Professional Baseball Team and over the course of my internship, I critically analyzed and evaluated the organization's policies, procedures, and overall business strategy. Based on my personal experience and research, I conducted a SWOT analysis; which examined the organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats; identified seven recommendations for the organization based on this analysis; and then devised a comprehensive business proposal to implement one of the specific recommendations.
