Welcome to the Mary Queen of Peace Dinner Auction and thanks for your presence and support tonight!
“Grateful and Generous” is the theme of our Dinner Auction, and what a wonderful choice, because above all, Catholic Christians are called to be both grateful for the gifts that God has given to us and generous in sharing those gifts with others. This is the definition of Stewardship – being Grateful and Generous. In the weeks and months to come, we will certainly be grateful as Thanksgiving draws near and we will certainly be generous as Christmas comes around. But we can start here, tonight, and commit to being grateful and generous every day of our lives!
This year’s Fund-a-Need is really a Fund-A-Vision, and it is a vision that is near and dear to me as I dream of the future of MQP. I vision a parish where every member of our community – from our children to our oldest – is growing closer to Christ. This happens especially at the Eucharist, but also at school, PSR, Youth Ministry, and other faith formation experiences. We have great (and some new) staff members in place to lead us forward in faith, and I want to fund the resources they need to move their ministry forward – musicians for our Youth Ministry and PSR, training and assistance for our cantors and choirs, and stipends and resources for our Adult Faith Formation. Through this Fund-A-Vision, I know our parish family will grow closer to Christ, and that’s what it’s really all about!

THE 2018 GRANDPARENT HONOR ROLL
In September, we sent letters to the Mary Queen of Peace children’s grandparents asking if they would like to contribute to the MQP Grandparents Honor Roll. The Honor Roll proceeds are used for educational enhancements at our school. Thanks to Allison Brennan for reaching out to our MQP grandparents to lead this project. We had an overwhelmingly generous response from our wonderful grandparents and the contributions totaled over $2,700! These proceeds will provide a means to update and replace necessary items in the school. Thank you Grandparents for your kind donations to help keep our school up to date and our kids happy!

MQP Security This is a fundraiser for increased security to our school, church and surrounding property. You can choose the dollar amount of the donation, either through check or electronically online when you check in. How the money is spent will be determined by the amount of money raised. The amount of your donation is not published but the current total amount raised will be seen by all who are using the online bidding platform. ALL OF THE ITEMS BELOW ARE AVAILABLE AT CHECK-IN

Susan has been diligently working on these custom ornaments for months. Each ornament displays Our Lady that shines and looks down on Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. CHAMPAGNE PULL Again at the auction this year, we are selling small champagne bottles with surprise gift certificates attached. Each gift certificate has a TOTAL value of at least $25 for A COST OF only $25. But wait - there’s more! In several envelopes, there are gift cards with a much higher value! AUCTION RULES
Silent Auction ELECTRONIC BIDDING FOR THE SILENT AUCTION! All silent auction bids must be placed using the Gesture electronic bidding system. Not tech-savvy? Don’t Worry! Volunteers from Gesture will be available for a quick mobile bidding tutorial and for any questions or concerns you may have. If you could use some extra time to familiarize yourself with Gesture, you will receive information on how to sign up in advance of the event, or you can plan to arrive when the doors open to give yourself some extra time.
If you have not done so in advance, at registration you will be set up to use your mobile device or to use a mobile bidding device provided by Gesture. Your bid number will be linked to your name and that of your spouse, if applicable. Do not allow anyone else to use your bid number.
The Gesture system will contain all minimum bid information and the minimum bid increase amounts. Each new bid must be increased by at least the minimum bid amount specified by the mobile bidding system, or the bid will not be accepted. There is no “buy it now” option.
If you want to avoid constantly being outbid on a highly desired item, Gesture will allow you to tell the system to automatically bid for you up to your maximum designated amount for that particular item. If you choose this option for a particular item, the Gesture system will then automatically bid for you incrementally up to your maximum amount when someone outbids you.
The Auction Committee reserves the right to withdraw any item at any time without notice before the actual sale. In the event of a dispute involving any bid or item, the Auction Committee shall act as final authority in determining the winning bid.

If you make a mistake when bidding, please immediately see a Gesture representative for assistance. Mistakes cannot be corrected once bidding has ended.
Live Auction Live Auction bidding will begin at approximately 9:00 using good old-fashioned paddles. When bidding, please hold your paddle up high with your bid number toward the Auctioneer. The Live Auction will continue until all items are sold.
If a group is bidding on one item, please designate one person to place your combined bid. Auction items will be awarded to one purchaser only. A bid acknowledged by the Auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item.

Terms of Sale Unless otherwise noted, all certificates for goods and services must be used within one year of the auction date. All items and services are subject to the terms and conditions specified by the donors.
All sales are final and there will be no refunds or exchanges. Mary Queen of Peace does not make any express or implied warranties or guarantees on auction items regarding quality or value of items or services. Mary Queen of Peace has attempted to describe all items correctly, but all items are offered and sold “as is” and “with all faults.”
Mary Queen of Peace neither warrants nor represents, and in no event shall be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance, or condition of the items. No statement made in this catalog or made orally at the auction or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warrant for tax purposes or market value. Items have not been appraised unless specifically noted.
Reservations for trips and vacation accommodations must be mutually arranged with the donor unless otherwise noted. No refunds will be allowed on travel packages for canceled tickets and/or accommodations. For those items requiring reservations, the winning bidder should contact the donor prior to December 31, 2018, or by the specific date indicated to ensure a mutually agreeable date.
By the buyer’s purchase, the buyer waives any claim for liability against Mary Queen of Peace, its elected or appointed officials, members and employees, sponsors, volunteers connected with the auction, and/or the donor of the item. Neither Mary Queen of Peace nor the donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damages that may result from the use of the property or services.
Tax Information The auction is a charity auction for the benefit of Mary Queen of Peace Parish and School. Mary Queen of Peace is a tax-exempt charitable organization described in Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c)(3). Guests are asked to view the auction policies and procedures with this in mind and to join in the charitable spirit of the event.
This catalog attempts to depict the fair market value of each item. The amounts are the Auction Committee’s best estimates and are not warranted by Mary Queen of Peace. Any amount you pay in excess of the actual fair market value may be available to you as a charitable contribution for tax purposes. Direct donations to Mary Queen of Peace qualify as charitable contributions to the donor and are deductible for income tax purposes to the extent allowable by law. Please consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of your dinner ticket, purchases and donations.
AUCTION CHECK-IN
Parking and Entrance Valet Parking will be available for the entire evening on Westborough Country Club parking lot. After parking, we ask that all guests please check in first at the golf pro shop and then enter the main doors of Westborough for optimal traffic flow. Thank you for your cooperation.
Check-In Your programs were delivered to the address of record on your reservation RSVP. If your program was not delivered or was lost, there will be a limited number of additional programs available at check-in. Greeters at check-in will be confirming your table number, providing you with your bid paddle, and distributing any program addendum. You and your spouse, if applicable, will receive one bid number which should be used when making bids throughout the evening. Please do not allow anyone else to use your bid number.
MQP Greeters and Gesture representatives will also be at check-in to ensure that each person is set up to use the Gesture electronic bidding system.
There are also several items available for purchase only at check-in: MQP custom-painted ornaments, raffle tickets and the champagne pull.
PAYMENT/CHECK-OUT/PICK-UP
Payment All items must be paid for by the end of the evening. The Gesture system will inform you if you were the highest bidder for any item(s).
If paying by credit card (Visa or Mastercard only, please), you will be able to pay electronically using Gesture. You will be asked whether you would like to include in your payment the amount equal to the credit card processing fee. While this is neither expected nor required, it is greatly appreciated. If paying using Gesture, you will be issued an electronic receipt and you can simply go pick up your item as noted below and skip the line at the bank.
If paying by cash or check, you must make payment at the bank located in the lobby. Credit card payments may also be made at the bank if you would rather not pay using the Gesture system.
Pick Up To pick up an item that is on display, simply show your paper or electronic receipt to the MQP or Gesture volunteer near the display and take your item. If your item is a certificate or other intangible not on display, it can be picked up at the bank in the lobby after payment.
All items must be removed from Westborough Country Club by the end of the evening. Neither Mary Queen of Peace nor Westborough Country Club is responsible for auction items left behind. FUND-A-VISION A Special Giving Opportunity for the MQP Community
Each auction year, we ask for funding for special needs that benefit our Mary Queen of Peace community.
This year, Father John is asking us not just to fund a need, but to fund a vision. The vision is this: that we create a parish where more and more people, from our children, to our teens, to our adults, to our seniors, enter more deeply into a relationship with Jesus. We would like to focus on music.
Music is the water on which the experience sails. “Music does what words alone cannot do. It is capable of expressing a dimension of meaning and feeling that words alone cannot convey.” More than any other element in the church’s weekend experience, it is the music that can touch and change people’s hearts – for better or worse. (White and Corcoran: Rebuilt. Ave Maria Press, 2017)
Consider investing in our Sunday experience, our children’s faith formation (both at MQP school and PSR programs) and all of our relationships with Jesus Christ. We invite you to make a gift, however large or small, to help fund this vision, and we thank you in advance for your generous donations and support.

Before the Live Auction, you will be offered an opportunity give. We’ll start at Level 1 or at $1,000. Everyone who wants to make a direct donation to Fund-A-Vision simply needs to raise their paddle, complete a Fund-A-Vision card on your dinner table and a runner will come pick up your card. We will see what we can raise in 15 minutes. One hundred percent of Fund-A-Vision donations will go directly to this need, and one hundred percent of your donation is tax deductible. Live Auction
Live AUCTION LIVE AUCTION GUIDELINES:
• The Live Auction begins at approximately 9:00 p.m. and continues until all items are sold. It is anticipated that the Live auction items will be auctioned in the order in the auction book and any addendum thereafter. However, the Auctioneer reserves the discretion to change the order.
• Please use your auction number for bidding. Acceptance of your successful bid by the Auctioneer is binding and will be confirmed immediately by your signature on the bid contract which will be delivered to you.
• To claim a purchase, a successful bidder may (1) pay the cashier in the bank; (2) pay a Gesture mobile bidding representative; or (3) pay through Gesture on your mobile device. No item will be released without verification of payment.
• All items that are not delivered to the successful bidder’s table can be picked up at check-out. Unless otherwise noted, the expiration date of all intangible items is November 3, 2019.
• For those items requiring reservations such as condos, airline travel, parties, etc. it is the responsibility of the successful bidder to contact the donor prior to December 31, 2018, to insure a mutually agreeable date.
• Payment in full on the evening of the Auction is mandatory. Cash, check, MasterCard or Visa are acceptable.
• All items must be removed from Westborough Country Club at the end of the auction; neither Mary Queen of Peace nor Westborough Country Club is responsible for any auction item left behind.
• Values set forth opposite items being auctioned are the auction committee’s best estimates are not warranted by Mary Queen of Peace Parish or School for tax purposes or general value.

#7 Female Labradoodle Puppy A labradoodle is a crossbreed dog created by crossing the Labrador Retriever and the Standard, Moyen or Miniature Poodle. The term first appeared in 1955, but was not popularized until 1988, when the mix began to be used as an allergy friendly guide dog. This puppy was born 8/29/18. She is gold/apricot in color and medium sized, most likely growing to 40-50 pounds at full maturity. Some Labradoodles do shed, although the coat usually sheds less and has less "dog odor" than that of a Labrador Retriever.
