Media Strategy

1. Press Release: The Platform will share a press release promoting the Side Event in the lead up to WHS. 2. Press conference: We aim to have a press conference after the Side Event on 23 May. 3. Media Campaign: A social media campaign featuring information bites from the WHS philanthropy report, featured blogs and quotes from speakers will be available in the coming days, please share on your and organization social media channels. 4. Liaison with Key Journalists: The Platform and UNDP will reach out to local and international accredited media agencies to ensure the event will be covered in full and by leading development writers. 5. Commitments to Action Document: Monetary and non-monetary commitments made by foundations as well as the bridging of new partnerships created as a result of the Side Event will be recorded and published. Blogging for Humanity: In collaboration with Side Event partners and select foundations, the Platform welcomes all Side Event partners and collaborators to write a blog to be featured on www.worldhumanitariansummit.org. Please ensure blogs are covering the Side Event key messages and one or more of the core WHS 2016 responsibilities: 1) Prevent and end conflict; 2) Respect rules of war; 3) Leave no one behind; 4) Working differently to end need; 5) Invest in humanity. 7. Social Media: The Side Event will be promoted through Platform social media channels and Facebook, search SDG Philanthropy Platform or PhilSDGs to connect with us. Use #PhilSDGs and #ShareHumanity to join the WHS conversation during the Side event. 8. Storify: This media tool will collate influential Side Event tweets, social media posts, and images to share with partners, the public and foundations post-event.

Amplify philanthropy voices during WHS and link philanthropy with WHS core messages. 2 Catalyze collaboration on addressing the critical challenge of bridging development and humanitarian , leaving no one behind, and closing financial gaps for what are necessary investments in humanity. 3 Advocate SDG Philanthropy Platform as a vehicle through which philanthropy can realize commitments and collective actions towards the WHS Agenda for Humanity.
