World RX Teams & Tv Deals Presented at Barcelona Media Launch World RX teams & tv deals presented at Barcelona media launch The media launch for the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy was held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya today (13 April), as a series of announcements about the FIA’s newest World Championship were revealed to more than 200 international media, VIPs and sponsors. Eight permanent World Championship teams – SDRX, Marklund Motorsport, Ford Olsbergs MSE, Team Peugeot-Hansen, Volkswagen Team Sweden, EKS, ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport and World RX Team Austria – were present in addition to permanent 2015 drivers, Timur Timerzyanov and Robin Larsson. Britain’s JRM Racing – a new development team in World RX – was also in Barcelona with two of its brand new MINI RX Countryman Supercars plus American drivers, Danny Way and Dave Mirra. Martin Anayi – World RX Managing Director for IMG – spoke about various new TV deals for the upcoming World RX season, with a combined household reach to exceed more than 800 million homes worldwide. “The number of broadcasters taking World RX has grown steadily since IMG took over the rights to the Championship at the end of 2012 and we have commitment from a number of key broadcasters to show extended World RX coverage live in 2015,” he said. “The amount of free-to-air TV broadcast coverage has increased dramatically and we’ll continue to offer live coverage via our website to ensure that fans across the globe can keep up with the race for the World and European RX Championship titles.” One of the biggest announcements from Barcelona was the reveal of the new SDRX team, which sees reigning FIA World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg join Britain’s Liam Doran in a pair of Monster Energy-backed Citroen DS3 Supercars. “We’ve been working on the car for some time and I’m feeling very well prepared for the start of the season. We’ve got some pre-season testing in France with the DS3 next week ahead of the first race in Portugal at the end of the month,” confirmed Solberg. The Norwegian World Champion added: “I’m also very excited to be joining forces with a talented RX driver like Liam Doran. He has worked hard over the winter to refocus, and has come back stronger from a very tough season in 2014. This really shows his motivation to want to fight back. I think the dynamic will work well between us this year.” Meanwhile, for the ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport squad, 2006 Formula Renault 3.5 Series Champion and former F1 test-driver Alx Danielsson was in Barcelona to confirm he will compete alongside Rene Muennich in the first three World RX rounds in Montalegre, Hockenheim and Mettet. Reinis Nitiss and Andreas Bakkerud will once again drive with Ford Olsbergs MSE to defend their FIA World Rallycross Teams’ title in a pair of bold red Ford Fiesta ST Supercars. Also joining the squad this season is Russia’s Timur Timerzyanov, who will run a wild card campaign for the drivers' title in a third Fiesta. His entry will be fielded by Namus OMSE. "Team boss Andreas Eriksson wants to be the best and he will do anything to try to be the best," said two-time European Rallycross Champion Timerzyanov. "The people in this organisation know every bolt on the cars and they know what they need to do to win. I trust this team." Team Peugeot-Hansen was in attendance with new recruit Davy Jeanney and his 22-year-old Swedish team-mate Timmy Hansen, while Volkswagen was well-represented by Marklund Motorsport and new-for-2015 outfit Volkswagen Team Sweden. Ole Christian Veiby, Euro RX competitor for VW Team Sweden, was also in Barcelona. With EKS team boss Mattias Ekstrom unable to attend the media launch due to DTM testing, Edward Sandstrom stood in alongside permanent EKS driver Anton Marklund. Sandstrom will replace Ekstrom in the Audi S1 Quattro for World RX of Hockenheim. Five-time Dakar Rally Champion and 13-time Moto Trial World Champion Laia Sanz was also at the World RX media launch and spoke of her desire to compete at Barcelona RX later in the year at the wheel of an RX Lites car. In the overall standings, the Swede still holds second behind compatriot Johan Kristoffersson. In the teams’ classification EKS is third at the half-way stage of the season. Ekström made a flying start around the rollercoaster track in Norway. Despite torrential rain, the Swede coped the best with the slippery track at the wheel of his Audi S1 EKS RX quattro, and led the overall classification after the first day. “I was a little surprised that we were so fast in the wet, but that was quattro weather,” joked Ekström after the final. “In the dry conditions on Sunday, we struggled again to match the pace of the competition. In the final we lost crucial ground right at the start. This was our own mistake and this ultimately cost us the podium finish.” Although Ekström leaves Norway without a trophy, he still scored 23 important points for the overall standings. After six of twelve rounds, the World Champion is eight points behind the leading VW driver Johan Kristoffersson.

With the ever-changing landscape that is covid I’m a bit cautious about the content of this introduction but hopefully we are heading in the right direction and with the return of ‘trainees’ (perhaps soon a grading name consigned to history…) and ‘taster days’ it’s beginning to feel a little more normal. On that point, taster days are an important tool for our recruitment teams and feedback from some attendees at the recent Brands Hatch Speedfest meeting (the first for a long while…) was highly positive, as can be seen from the following comments: “I thoroughly enjoyed the day and the contribution from the post crew were invaluable to making the day enjoyable and learning about the different roles / responsibilities. I’d definitely like to volunteer for more events and will join the BMMC”… “Great day! Give me more! Guys were great! Good fun, yes, give me some more! Good instructions and guidance”… “Thank you so much for yesterday, I haven't stopped smiling since getting home. Everyone on post 6 were just absolutely amazing! I can't fault anything! At the ninth round in Lohéac, the reigning World Champion finished third – the first podium result since his victory in Hockenheim last May. In front of 75,000 spectators, the Swede was only beaten in the final by his countryman Johan Kristoffersson and the French local matador Sébastien Loeb. In the overall standings, Ekström is third behind Kristoffersson and his team mate Petter Solberg – also like EKS in the team classification. Following heavy rain, the final race in Brittany became a mud festival featuring many overtaking moves. “Saturday sun and Sunday rather more swimming and sliding, a varied weekend,” confirmed Ekström. “I’m actually quite satisfied with my third place, but I’m a little annoyed because we weren’t so far from the front. In the dry and in the rain we were just missing a tiny bit, but we can certainly build on the performance.” In Lohéac, Ekström’s team mates Reinis Nitišs and Toomas Heikkinen once again made the semi- final races for the twelve fastest drivers, but drew the short straw at this stage. “After contact with Andreas Bakkerud my wipers stopped working, from there on I was running blind,” summarized Nitišs and added: “I’m disappointed with the result because it doesn’t show our real performance.” Heikkinen missed the final after a collision with Ken Block.

Transition theory emphasizes that development of sustainable technologies such as EVs can be achieved within niches, which are protective spaces that shield sustainable technologies from mainstream market selection pressures. An interesting environment that has generally been known for innovative developments with regard to mobility has recently seen an increased usage of EVs. This environment is the motorsport. This paper therefore aims to identify the role that the electric motorsport as niche plays in the development of EVs for a transition towards a more sustainable mobility system. In order to fulfil this aim, a qualitative research approach was used where both semi-structured interviews and grey literature was analysed. The electrification of certain categories of the FIA World Rallycross Championship as well as the Extreme E were selected to exemplify the entire electric motorsport. The protective space conceptualisation of Smith and Raven (2012) that focuses on shielding, nurturing and empowering processes was used to conduct the analysis and describe the electric motorsport as a niche. The analysis showed that the electric motorsport as niche shows great capabilities of making contributions towards the development of EVs, but currently is not utilised to this potential.

    23-08-2015 20:57 CEST Hard helg i Hell for Andreas Bakkerud Rallycross in Hell ble en eventyrlig suksess for arrangøren med over 19000 tilskuere over tre solfylte og flotte dager på Lånkebanen i Stjørdal. Publikum fikk oppleve tøffe fighter og heftig kjøring fra tidenes største startfelt med Supercars. For Andreas Bakkerud ble det derimot en hard helg, og lite mesterskapspoeng med hjem. – Akkurat det kan jeg skylde meg selv for, men arrangementet denne helgen har vært utrolig bra, forteller Bakkerud. Bakkerud havnet bakpå allerede før hjulene hadde rullet i gang i på Lørdagen. - Det ble en dobbel joker etter at bilen beveget seg på startplata i første omgang. Dermed ble jeg kjempende bakfra hele helgen. Vi hadde god fart på rundetidene, men klarte aldri å få det helt til totalt i heatene, forteller Bakkerud som endte som nummer 8 etter fire omganger. I semifinalen ble det virkelig action, og Andreas kom ut side om side med Petter Solberg. Det endte med en episode det ble snakket mye om i sosiale medier i ettertid: – Jeg gjorde samme manøver mot Tommy Rustad i fjerde omgang, men da uten kontakt mellom bilene. Jeg krysset linje bak Petter og prøver å gå for den luken som er der, men det blir kontakt, jeg treffer curbsen og slår i stykker mitt høyre framhjul. I ettertid er det enkelt å si at jeg burde bremset – men slik er rallycross det er tight og ting skjer raskt, forteller Bakkerud og legger til: - Det er jeg som ødelegger bilen min der ikke Petter. Bakkerud fortsatte å kjempe flere runder med bare tre hjul, men da felgen løsnet, og bremsene forsvant var det bare å parkere.

    News release 20.09.15 Petter’s best in Barcelona Norwegian superstar Petter Solberg celebrated victory at the maiden World RX of Barcelona at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya today (Sunday). Petter’s no stranger to winning, but it’s been a pretty lean summer in terms of time on the top step for the two-time FIA World Champion. Which is why he was so pleased to land a first victory since World RX of Great Britain at Lydden Hill in May. That and the fact he didn’t let his son Oliver down… Solberg, who is 35 points clear at the top of the World RX table with three rounds remaining this season, said: “We have fought hard for this win the whole weekend. We’ve run a lot of different set-ups on the car – we had to really work at it to catch Peugeot. All the time, the 208 was taking tenths of seconds, but eventually the brilliant PSRX engineers worked it out. “My son won a crosskart race in Sweden today; I got the message by telephone and he was joking and being quite confident and cocky in telling me I couldn’t let the family down – I actually really felt the pressure from that! “In the end, I could call him back and be quite cocky back with him. I liked that! “Everything was going quite well from the start, but in the third heat, I touched the wall on the left side – there was loads of dust in the car and I really couldn’t see so well.
