This show was notable for acquainting the New York School with the medium as its artists would go on to embrace collage, creating objects that ranged from small compositions of handmade paper to mural-sized works of torn and reassembled canvas. Despite the significance of this development, art historians consistently overlook collage during the era of Abstract Expressionism. This project examines four artists who based significant portions of their oeuvre on papier collé during this period (i.e. the late 1940s and early 1950s): Lee Krasner, Robert Motherwell, Anne Ryan, and Esteban Vicente. Working primarily with fine art materials in an abstract manner, these artists challenged many of the characteristics that supposedly typified collage: its appropriative tactics, disjointed aesthetics, and abandonment of ―high‖ culture.

THE PHILOSOPHER AND THE WORDS. JULIÁN MARÍAS IN THE REAL ACADEMIA ESPAÑOLA Abstract: This article explains the contribution of Spanish Philosopher Ju- lián Marías (1914-2005), Ortega and Gasset’s disciple, to the Real Academia Españo- la, which has a long history since Foundation, 300 years ago. Marías was an outstan- ding intellectual in Spain and America and because of that, he was able to improve philosophical Spanish. Especially interesting is when we analyze his ownership to the Royal Academy, his Lecture for the admission act and his Answers for Antonio Co- lino, Miguel Delibes, Salvador de Madariaga, Manuel de Terán and José Luis Pinillos’ admissions and the homages that he paid to Ramón Menéndez Pidal and Gregorio Marañón.

Yo he manejado la segun da edición (Basilea, 1555).

Lane Glisson 461 Breaking the Spin Cycle: Teaching Complexity in the 19.3. Age of Fake News portal Lane Glisson publication, abstract: This article describes a discussion-based approach for teaching college students to identify the characteristics of ethical journalism and scholarly writing, by comparingfor fake news with credible information in a strategically planned slideshow. Much has been written on the need to instruct our students about disinformation. This librarian shares a lesson plan that engages students’ critical thinking skills by using a blend of humor, analysis, and a compelling visual presentation. The teaching method is contextualized by research on the distrust of the press and scientific evidence since the rise of hyper-partisan cable news, Russian trollaccepted farms, and alternative facts. and Introduction edited, Throughout our culture, the old notions of “truth” and “knowledge” are in danger of being replaced by the new ones of “opinion,” “perception” and “credibility.” copy Michio Kakutani1 What if truth is not an absolute or a relative, but a skill—a muscle, like memory, that collectively we have neglected so much that we have grown measurably weaker at using it?
