Hockey Special Announcement - Baseball Ice Skating The Department of Recreation is proud to announce that Baseball is officially underway at Pershing Lacrosse field . The baseball program directors of the 2016 season will be the Pony League with President Special Events Richie Lopez and Vice President Robert Baker.

Pershing Field Sports Complex Description

Project GLAD It is the primary aim of the Department of Recreation to oversee the provision of activities that are rich in leisure, culture and physical fitness to the residents of Jersey City. The Department ensures Soccer the utilization of the City’s recreational Spin Class facilities, both indoor and outdoor, encouraging people of all ages to partake in Summer Fun Camp activities that rejuvenate the body as well as Summer Food the mind.

Swimming/Sprinklers Specifically, the Department offers a wide array of activities that encompass but are not limited to Teen Girl Mentoring ice skating, aerobics, swimming, and gymnastics as well as more conventional activities such as track, basketball, baseball and football. Tennis & Badminton Instruction The Department offers after school programs at the Jersey City YMCA and Armory and various Volleyball public schools throughout the city.

Track & Field Team During the summer months, the city’s children are invited to participate in the Summer Fun program which is a day-camp style experience, held at a multitude of parks and school gymnasiums throughout the city.

The Jersey City Department of Recreation strives to meet the needs of the athletic and active, all the while encouraging each and every resident to stay fit, relieve stress and become further acclimated with their surrounding community by way of recreational activities.

Yoga Instruction

Conducted by Carol Lester, the Yoga Programs offer seniors and adults a chance to work on form and alignment while focusing on strength, flexibility, and balance. This Program is designed to accommodate all levels of experience and including floor work, vary according to site.

This Program is held at Pershing Field Community Center, Ocean Point Towers, NJCU - John J. Moore Athletic Center, and Grace Church Van Vorst. Registration is on-site and on-going, so just stop by and work on that Downward Facing Dog or Feathered Peacock Pose! Download Flyer with times & locales!

Home Ice Skating At Charlie Heger Pershing Field Ice Rink (Seasonal) City Government A Jersey City tradition, the skating season will run through until March! Skate rentals and classes are available, as well as a concession stand for all the snacks you can eat and hot cocoa you can Department of Recreation drink!

Home Lacrosse is a fast-paced sport that combines the speed of hockey, the strategy of soccer and the City Government teamwork of basketball.

Department of Recreation Youth lacrosse in Jersey City is organized through a partnership with Jersey City Lacrosse (www.jerseycitylacrosse.org) and the Department of Recreation of Jersey City. Adult & Senior Activities

Basketball The program is for boys and Girls from Kindergarten through eighth grade. Boxing

Football Children K-2 play in the Little Laxers program, which exposes kids to the game of lacrosse through Golf drills, games and modified scrimmages. The program uses a soft ball and players only need a Hockey lacrosse stick.

Ice Skating

Lacrosse In the Spring, starting in 3rd grade, boys put on equipment and play on teams in the Spring season Special Events (March through June). The teams play a full game schedule as a member the North NJ Junior Lacrosse League. The home field is at , and teams travel to play teams in NY and Pershing Field Sports NJ, including tournaments. Jersey City Lacrosse also hosts the Chilltown Classic boys lacrosse Complex tournament. Project GLAD

Description City Government The park at Pershing Field, which is located in the Heights section of Jersey City, covers over 14 acres of recreational space and includes tennis courts, a basketball court, bocce ball courts, Department of Recreation baseball fields, a running track, a children’s playground with water sprinkler, a community center, an ice skating rink, and a swimming pool. After School Program The Jersey City Futbol Academy Baseball & Softball Programs

Basketball The Jersey City Futbol Academy (JCFA) is dedicated to the Boxing promotion and development of youth soccer players in Jersey City. The objective of the JCFA is to provide a year-round soccer training Football program designed to develop elite players to their full potential, Golf focusing on top-quality instruction and exposure to the highest levels Hockey of competition. Our Academy will form boys and girls teams (if applicable) in age groups from U8 through U19. JCFA teams compete Ice Skating in the EDP (Eastern Development Program) and other elite level Lacrosse leagues. If you're an experienced player looking for a high level club team that stresses player Development above winning and is Special Events committed to Improving technical ability, developing tactical Pershing Field Sports awareness and strengthening player I.Q. you may be a good Complex candidate for our program. Our program also provides a "Pathway to College" platform for those Project GLAD players at the high school level that are interested in playing college soccer.

Swimming/Sprinklers Shoot for the Stars Soccer Teen Girl Mentoring One of the only Recreation programs offering participation for Tennis & Badminton children as young as 3 years of age, Shoot for the Stars Instruction Recreation Soccer is an opportunity for boys and girls ages 3- Volleyball 14 to learn and enjoy the game of soccer in a fun, safe Track & Field Team environment with heavy emphasis on the word FUN. The Shoot for the Stars coaches are licensed, certified and eager to help instruct your son or daughter in the basics of the “beautiful game” in a non-competitive setting please.

The Jersey City Recreation League is the oldest Recreation soccer program within the Department of Recreation. The program is administered by head coach, Edgar Bautista and operates six days a week with games played on Saturdays. The department utilizes various public school pools throughout the year. In addition, Pershing Field Pool is open all year round. Pavonia Pool and Lafayette Pool and Aquatics City Government Center are outdoor pools which are open for the summer months. There is a fee required for Pershing Field Pool.
