The baseball program directors of the 2016 season will be the Pony League with President Special Events Richie Lopez and Vice President Robert Baker. Pershing Field Sports Complex Description Project GLAD It is the primary aim of the Department of Recreation to oversee the provision of activities that are rich in leisure, culture and physical fitness to the residents of Jersey City. The Department ensures Soccer the utilization of the City’s recreational Spin Class facilities, both indoor and outdoor, encouraging people of all ages to partake in Summer Fun Camp activities that rejuvenate the body as well as Summer Food the mind. Swimming/Sprinklers Specifically, the Department offers a wide array of activities that encompass but are not limited to Teen Girl Mentoring ice skating, aerobics, swimming, and gymnastics as well as more conventional activities such as track, basketball, baseball and football. Tennis & Badminton Instruction The Department offers after school programs at the Jersey City YMCA and Armory and various Volleyball public schools throughout the city. Track & Field Team During the summer months, the city’s children are invited to participate in the Summer Fun program which is a day-camp style experience, held at a multitude of parks and school gymnasiums throughout the city. The Jersey City Department of Recreation strives to meet the needs of the athletic and active, all the while encouraging each and every resident to stay fit, relieve stress and become further acclimated with their surrounding community by way of recreational activities. So scroll City Government down the page and check out Specialized Fitness Classes, Water Aerobics, Weight Conditioning, Yoga, Bowling, Art Classes and other activities. Programs, times, and sites vary throughout the Department of Recreation year. Adult & Senior Activities Boot Camp Program After School Program Description Baseball & Softball Programs The Jersey City Department of Recreation is proud to present our Boot Camp Program, open to adults ages Basketball 18 and up. Participants should bring bottled water and Boxing a towel to this intensive workout! Track & Field Team Adult Fitness Class Conducted by Helen Clark, the Adult Fitness Classes guarantee a full body workout using a variety of stretches, low impact aerobics, elastic bands, and seated weight workouts. Program activities vary according to site. Proper exercise attire is required. Location This Program is held at Grace Church Van Vorst, Pershing Field, and Curries Woods. Yoga Instruction Conducted by Carol Lester, the Yoga Programs offer seniors and adults a chance to work on form and alignment while focusing on strength, flexibility, and balance. This Program is designed to accommodate all levels of experience and including floor work, vary according to site. Locations This Program is held at Pershing Field Community Center, Ocean Point Towers, NJCU - John J. Moore Athletic Center, and Grace Church Van Vorst. Participants must wear proper exercise attire, such as sneakers and clothes they can move in. Floor mats are required. Registration Registration takes place on-site & is on-going for all Yoga Programs. Just show up and have fun! Water Aerobics Start your day the fun way with Aerobic Water Exercise. A year-round program on-going registration that is open to adults and senior citizens who reside in Jersey City, this Program offers a variety of cool skill levels!
