Date: April 2017 NirBahadur Ale ABSTRACT The research entitled "Knowledge and Practices of Family Planning Methods in Magar Community of Golbazar municipality”has been conducted in Siraha District. The Magars were selected for the study because the study of Magar knowledge and practices of family planning was not done till now. Besides, Magars are economically, politically and educationally backward in Golbazar municipality ward. 3. The main objective of the study is to Lind out the knowledge and practices of family planning methods of Magar. The KP of family planning is the most important factor for launching family planning Programmers effectively. The researcher has considered that family planning is more broaderthan birth control and contraceptive prevalence. That is why? The researcher has included responsible parenthood, girl child's education, women empowerment, maternal and child health in this study. The research was conducted within the boundaries of Golbazar municipality ward. 3 Tetariya Villages. the total number of respondents were 92 married couples aged 20-30 years. In this study, the required information was collected with the help of interview schedule. Simple numerical and statistical techniques were used for data analysis and interpretation. On the basis of collected data the researcher has derived the following major findings and recommendations: Regarding the age at marriage, 48.91 percent got married before the age of 20 years.It is found that less respondents have knowledge regarding vasectomy, minilap and laparoscopy whereas 78.26. 31.52, 2.17,I.68. 1.08 percent of respondents had the knowledge of condoms, pills, Depo-Provera IUD and Norplant respectively. Majority of the Magar community had negative knowledge towards the contraceptive devices due to their cultural.It is revealed that 15.21 percent of the respondents used contraceptive devices Knowledge and practice of family planning were affected by the socio-cultural. So education about family planning method is very necessary for the Magar community. Most of the health workers and family planning volunteers working in community level did not give emphasis on L211;;;.■ Magar community. Therefore, community health workers should motivate the Magar community to use contraceptive devices.The NGOs, working in Siraha in the field of family planning and social welfare should conduct their services especially in Magar community. In social weather and family planning program, the communitymember should be encouraged to participate in social, educational and other related activities.
