Situation Overview

TROPICAL STORM "ISANG" HAS PASSED THE BATANES AREA AND CONTINUES TO MOVE IN A WESTWARD DIRECTION. Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to occasionally heavy rains within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. This weather system will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon that will bring light up to heavy rains over and the rest of particularly over the western. Section and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Resident of these areas as well as of areas with TCWS are alerted against possible landslides and flashfloods

At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm "ISANG" was Location of eye/center: estimated based on all available data at 60 km West Northwest of Basco, Batanes ( 20.7 °N, 121.5 °E) Maximum sustained winds of 80 kph near the center and Strength: gustiness of up to 97 kph Forecast Movement: Forecast to move West at 2 0 kph

24 Hour( Tomorrow morning): 615 km Northwest of City, Norte (OUTSIDE PAR)(21.6°N, 116.0°E)

Predictive Analytics for Humanitarian Response

Based on the PAGASA WRF and GSM initiated on 19 August 2017 UTC 1800H, 11 Regions are projected to receive an accumulated rainfall of at least 100 mm from August 19 to 22, 2017, which may trigger flooding and landslide. Using this available data, the DSWD predicts an exposure of 252,223 families based on the 2015 PSA Population Census and 54,802 poor families based on the 2016 DSWD Listahanan (see Tables 1 and 2).

Status of Prepositioned Resources: Stockpiles and Standby Funds

DSWD-FO CAR DATE ACTION(S) TAKEN ● Per the Provincial/Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (P/MDRRMOs), the region is experiencing cloudy skies with intermittent rain. No 21 August 2017 preemptive evacuations monitored.

DSWD-FO I DATE ACTION(S) TAKEN ● is currently experiencing cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers. Hence, there were no tropical cyclone signal raised in the region. ● The Disaster Response Assistance and Management Section (DReAMS) staff members are closely monitoring the possible effect(s) of Tropical Storm “Isang”. ● The Quick Action Response Teams (QUARTs) of the DSWD-FO I and the 21 August 2017 Provincial Operations Offices are currently monitoring and preparing pre-disaster activities in close coordination with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) – Region I and with the different P/C/MDRRMOs for the adverse effect that may be brought about by Tropical Storm “Isang”.

DSWD-FO II DATE ACTION(S) TAKEN ● For the Province of Batanes, the weather is cloudy with intermittent rains. ● The SWAD Team in Batanes is on alert and closely coordinating with the DSWD-FO II on the progress of Tropical Storm “Isang”. ● The SWAD Teams in other provinces were alerted on the situation of the Tropical 21 August 2017 Storm. ● The rest of the provinces in the region are also experiencing cloudy skies with intermittent rains.
