Tour I North Saaremaa and Sõrve Peninsula TOUR I NORTH SAAREMAA AND SÕRVE PENINSULA Day 1 – Muhu Island and North Saaremaa 10.15 Ferry from Virtsu to Kuivastu 10.40 The ferry arrives at Kuivastu Harbour, where the guide meets the group and the tour begins Places of interest: Koguva Village (birthplace of Juhan Smuul on Tooma Farm, old village school and handicraft made by Muhu women) lives its every day life but functions also as a museum Choices for groups: 1) Laasu Farm - ostriches, emus, nandus and kangaroos (products made of ostrich skin, feathers and eggs at sale) Or after crossing the Small Strait 2) Military Museum and collection of weapons in Orissaare – one of the biggest and most extraordinary private collections in Estonia Dam of the Small Strait – 3-km- long dam road takes you over the Small Strait 13.15 Lunch in Orissaare. Booked in advance if necessary Places of interest: Ruins of Maasi Stronghold – a medieval stronghold, which is being excavated and restored Karja Church – the smallest and the most extraordinary medieval sacral buildings in Saaremaa Angla Windmills and the Cultural Heritage Centre – a group of windmills including 5 windmills and the Cultural Heritage Centre built of Selgase dolomite and opened in 2011, having a peculiar architecture and interior design, providing different activities. Laugu Glass Workshop – possible to see glass artist Peeter Rudaš at work in his studio and buy his products (only from June 1 until August 31) Panga Cliff – the highest cliff in Saaremaa 18.30 Arrival at the accommodation place on Värava Farm, Selgase Village, Mustjala County.
