Medan.2019 This study is about the use of locutionary acts used by Prabowo subianto and Joko widodo in the 2019 presidential candidate debates. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the types of locutionary speech acts in the first session of the presidential debates in Indonesia in 2019 based on the classification of Austin speech acts. Qualitative research design is used to analyse the data. The results showed 64 utterance of Locutionary act were found the most utterance used is phatic acts 32 utterance or 50%, next phonetic acts 18 utterance or 28.1% and last rhetic act acts 14 utterance or 21.8%. Phatic acts where realized in saying certain vocabulary by forming direct sentence, while phonetic acts in producing sounds, and rhetic acts in using certain vocabulary by forming indirect sentence.
